You know sometimes with people living in their cars or vans i think how nice it would be to have a business that caters to this type of person, whether by choice or otherwise. What i mean is touching base with a place once a week, getting a pre-chilled efficient cooler stocked with a weeks worth of frozen tasty meals, having access to a laundry machine and shower and other comforts one would want access to, and a battery exchange to swap out an empty power bank with a full one. It would be like a one stop shop type of thing to resupply and get back on the road.
i think there’s also a market for no-build campers. a company with huge resources can go and design kits for various layouts for different car types. sorta like IKEA type where you can just look at their designs, buy and set it up yourself. it brings a little bit organization inside the car specially when it comes to say having a table or a bed. i know there’s one doing this right now but they only have one design but they’re quite expensive and ships only to mainland US. lots and lots of people are into these now for various reasons. some like to see the country. others are having 2-3 jobs and would rather stay somewhere in between shifts or jobs. so on and so forth. so there’s huge potential.
It wasn't too many years ago that people living in their cars were poor and homeless and to be pitied. But now your video shows that it's necessary for some working people because of the crazy cost of living. It's empowering and quite a positive message you spread that it's okay to live that way.
I lived in my van for 2 years. Where do you keep your clothes, extra shoes, paper towels, all the random things some uses when living in a vehicle. Water jugs, pee bottle, dirty clothes, plates cups, backpack, trash can
As a minimalist & a RAV4 owner, this setup is a dream come true. I currently have a storage unit so I keep the bare minimum in my set up, only what I need for a few days. I bought a jackery mainly for my fridge & after seeing one of your other videos explaining watt hours and all that, I immediately knew I made a mistake & am totally getting that battery you have! 4x the power for $20 less blew my MIND. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Where do you keep your clothes and your toiletries and your food and you’re cooking utensils and supplies? If you remove that air conditioner, you would have a little more room.
@@RavRoving Thank you for sharing. I am about to start my journey and I really appreciate your tips. You seem so organized. Be safe out there! God bless you.

i have liked and subscribed since you talk about the starlink. I will be retiring in 3 years and wished to do the van lifer thing, to be able to travel and see places...enjoy life, enjoy the freedom of mobility.
Great tour. I’ve started car camping whenever I travel since getting a Tesla 3. It’s much smaller than yours but the camp mode keeps the temperature perfect and with the back seats folded there is a perfect flat space for a regular twin mattress. I stay in state parks with RV power usually so I can get a nights sleep and 300 miles of range for $20-30 the camp mode works without plugging in but if I need to charge anyway the campsites are good value. I’ve been thinking of getting an old Tesla X and stripping out all the seats to do something like you’ve done. I think that would be the perfect budget car camper.
Thanks for watching! A lot of people trash talk tesla's but the ability to have climate control integrated into your vehicle is something I envy alot. A Model X build would be really neat to see
I've thought about leasing a Tesla and doing something similar, but I am concerned about the EMF exposure. Any thoughts about that? I own a ICE vehicle currently but have to make the necessary adjustments to facilitate sleep.
Wow...I've watched tons of these kinds of videos. Your setup is top notch, one of the best I've seen. You definitely have checked all the boxes. I would probably add a rooftop storage box and an optima yellow top deep cycle starter battery. On my vehicle I also added a 12 light bar to the front bumper. I call this low beam assist. When traveling at night it's a real game changer and perfectly legal.
Okay Austin!!! I got the battery, eyelet plug, & power inverter!! Now I've just got to connect it all. I love the battery. Those side usb charging ports were awesome last night when 2 of my fans died.
You know watching all these videos I think a good business model that would really help vehicle dwellers or even homeless is a place for services that would help them or be useful. Like showers and laundry. People go to the gym and many times it just for a shower. all that equipment and they are just getting cleaned. perhaps bath houses should come back. a business that has showers, laundry and microwaves to heat up hot meals. Perhaps also a food pantry that would work better for some one with no fridge or needs dry goods donations. What about sleep pods with lockers to hold personal items daily and be cheap. i am thinking like in japan. And it be very clean that someone would want to stay at. And safe. Not to mention mail services and additional help getting your official documents reordered. If you loose everything imagine trying to get it all back.
Bro, just get a house 😂 everything you're suggesting costs money. You know very well they would charge an exuberant $. People live in their car because they're broke and or trying to save $. A small percentage are doing car life to travel. So all that wouldn't make sense
I think that this is a very good idea. It would be nice to see a city develop a model For these kind of services. There are state and federal funding sources. Services to keep people stable are balanced by reduction in emergency services. The basics would be charging, Laundry, Food pantry, Case management, And coffee area for socialization. First expansion would be supplies. Like bedding, flashlites, first aid kits, containers, low dollar items. Second Expansion would be to do streamlined build outs For people That don't have them. Third expansion Could be more expensive items--batteries, inverters, coolers, car top storage, tires, etc.

I also have a Rav4 hybrid (2018) and have been trying to make it work for camping as a test for an upcoming 6 week road trip. It's a challenge with those batteries taking up so much room and preventing a flat space in the back. And then the little slanted-topped storage cubby unit that comes in it. I think I may take the back rests on the backseat out, as well as have the front passanger seat taken out. Was hoping not to do that. 😢
Beautiful setup. Sometimes less really is more. Having a storage unit or a homebase, makes living out of a vehicle, so much more comfortable. I found I actually prefer my daily driver for my roadtrips to the class b, van that we got the year before my husband passed away. For one I just don't need all that space and the daily driver is stealthy, nimble, gets better fuel economy, and is a better ride for driving. I have escaped winter 2 years in a row in my daily driver and just like it better than the big van. Thank you for taking the time to create this video, you have 3 items that could definitely make my travels in my daily driver, more comfortable than the lold clas b van. ❤😊

Thanks for sharing this. You have a lot of cool gadgets. Seems like the power cord 75 feet thingy w outlets on it is ingenius. The AC is VERY important but wouldn't it leak water? The stadium seat in a small vehicle like that is perfect. Your whole set up is really cool. I guess you could use more of a kitchen set up so you can more easily prep and even cook food. I didn't see anything regarding that topic except for the cooler. The other thing that would be good is if you could make space for solar panels perhaps putting them on the dash board so they can charge while your car sits and when you drive. Then you wouldn't have to always be looking for an electric outlet. Not sure if the dash board of your car would work for that purpose but it's a thought. I wonder if they have something like a kitchen in a bag that you fold open and have your utencils and a hot plate and such. If it had pop out legs on it that would be perfect. Thanks again for sharing you home on wheels with us. Happy trails!
Thanks for watching! the AC has a drain hose that comes with it that i can drain into a gallon jug. I forgot add the footage to the video, but there is a small tote with cooking supplies underneath my bed. I do own some solar panels that I recently just got. But they are pretty large and lay on top of my roof when im staionary for a bit.
Clever ideas. I notice your setup is more minimalistic compared to a year ago. I have a Thule roof and bike rack, and I’m only using my 2015 Rav for road trips and camping, so I don’t really need to stealth it, but I’ll definitely use some of your ideas. The battery for the fridge looks great.
@@RavRoving Was just mentioning the Thule because it’s not stealth like your setup, which is better if you are trying to live in it and be stealth at times. Mine is more for camping, so I mainly keep a paddle board and other outdoor gear in that anyway. I definitely would like to remove back seats to have more interior room like you have.
Thanks for watching! My bed is essentially just two 2x4's running the length of the frame. I have a piece of plywood cut to size, but not drilled down in case I need to disassemble in a pinch
Can’t you plug all appliances into the solar generator and use the 100Ah battery with a DC output into the solar generator? That way when you start up the big battery gets charged up and that in turns keeps the solar generator battery charged up.
Subscribed, of course. Looking forward to see more. I just got a 2024 Mazda CX-5, I don't have the heart to remove the seats but I see your point. Having a storage unit...that's thinking. I liked the Lifepo4 battery solution. Well, just thanks for sharing.. nice... really nice... :)
I love the simplicity of your setup. Then, you have tons of power. Good fridge, air conditioner, great bed. All the important things. I wondered about toileting, cooking and food storage other than the fridge. Do you cook? Make coffee? Are you always in a city? And you mentioned plugging in your big cord. Where do you do that? I camp out of my CRV and am always looking for better ways to do it. This video made me a new subscriber.
Thanks for subscribing! I keep all mt dry food in cooking under my bed where my starlink dish is stored. I forgot to add it to the video. There are different spots around my town with outlets on the light poles and I also have a spot at work I can plug into
Dude, that's awesome. I have a Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Matrix in disguise. Similarly set up, I like your power options! I also have 2 tents. One I can stand up in, the other is just a small one person, that the wind in the desert won't destroy. I'm 59 & have loved camping & travelling since a kid. I'm going back out to the southwest in October. I live in Virginia, but over the next year, I'll be car & tent full time. Best of luck my friend.
Thanks for sharing your setup! I've never seen a battery like that so of course i will do more research. I have a highlander I'm going to travel in and i appreciate your minimalism approach 😊
Thanks for watching! The battery is a huge advantage if you want more power for less. You'll have more room in your highlander than i have in my Rav. Im jealous
Very smart more watt hour in almost three time less price ,than fancy power station in market , bcz most important is watt hour in off grid living , thanks
I believe it's more efficient to charge the battery under your bed from you car via 12volt connection instead of the inverter. It would be simple to do with a continuous duty solenoid rated for the correct amperage.
Very nice setup I like it so much and also I love to live in my Mazda CX 8. Living outside and going for a long drive with a car is really so much fun 😊
Let me know how you drain the Wave 2. On drain free mode for me, it will last maybe an hour. I like the unit but for me, you have to use the drain option.
I like the options. At $100+ A night for a hotel-- This makes travel An option for people who are not going to spend thousands of dollars On hotel rooms. Also , Eating at restaurants And fast food has gotten very expensive. Removal of the back seat really opens up the space

Love how streamline and functional your set up is. Well thought out. Looks pretty pricey for all of the "necessities" you have acquired. Easily several thousands (US $$$$) in today's economy. Do you aspire to having a bigger vehicle as your next No-build ?

2:12 😂 “14 aug” A.W.G., “Ay double-U gee,” is an acronym for American Wire Gauge. It represents how many times solid wire, as opposed to a modern stranded wire, would have been drawn through a die to achieve that outer diameter of the copper.
I forgot to add it into my video, but if you look under where my starlink is stored you'll see a blue tote. That's where i keep my cooking supplies/dry food
Powering the EcoFlow Wave 2 with AC has a 20% inverter loss. Wave 2 works well on 48V DC and external venting… otherwise it’s cooling the air with the waste heat.
Have you got an opinion on using a RAV4 Hybrid instead of your set up. Built in climate control built in battery built in generator If money was less of a limitation would you consider a Hybrid rav4?
Peplink with multiple cellular data links is far more reliable than satellite in urban areas. Peplink Transit Duo, two simultaneous LTE connections or the BR2 for 2x5G.
Im brand new to living in my car, like yesterday. How do you keep up all the power plug ins. How do charge power strips or what maintains their power to power all of your electronics?
The way my stuff is set up is when i drive it constantly charges the batteries. And if i need to I can find an outlet around town to top them off. But thats rare. Public parks in my area have lots of outlets, as well as the street light poles
Curious to see how the A/C unit works after thunderf00t made a video on them a few years back saying they were a scam. …. At night for sleeping should be alright not sure about summer daytime temps but hey better than my solution which is just a fan.
Thanks for the tour, you have one of the best setups I’ve seen. Love the idea of the 100Ah battery with the eyelets/12v connection. Do you also run the ac off the 100ah battery?
I just started living in my van, I'm spending way too much on food though. Most of it is due to the extremely hot weather right now, that in raccoons and squirrels state parks that get into everything.
Thanks for watching! The battery is going to have more total power for a fraction of the cost of the power station. Only thing is that a power station has built in outlets
Alot of public parks in my area have outlets on their light posts, or under the canopy areas. Also my place of work has outlets on their street lights as well
So I bought the battery highlighted in this video. I'm currently testing it to see how long it will power my fridge/freezer. Question tho- what is up with the power light on the battery that lights red in color? It's powering the fridge now but the light isn't on. When do you "turn it on" using the red button light? Thank you
What do you use to check the remaining power in the battery? I've had my freezer going now for over 24 hours and wondering how I check to see how much battery charge is left?

Thanks for this video. I saw your short last week and was really interested. I move into my car in 2 weeks and I just want to keep my fridge running.
Thanks for watching! Good luck with everything, i hope you find a battery solution that works for you😅
Thank yew. For the info on your suv layout.
Thanks for watching
Like someone else posted, grab a dc-dc charger to run the Blueti off your alternator, you can get 400w in with some of them.
I saw that, that was some good info
Beautiful. Simple and highly efficient, no clutter. Can you share the bed set up? How do you secure the board in place? Thanks
Thanks for watching! My bed is essentially just two 2x4's running the length of the frame. I have a piece of plywood cut to size, but not drilled down in case I need to disassemble in a pinch
@@RavRoving : Thank you for the reply.
Loool. I love that the video lasts for 13 minutes and 12 seconds.
Good Set Up nothing crazy, just efficient.
Thanks
Can’t you plug all appliances into the solar generator and use the 100Ah battery with a DC output into the solar generator?
That way when you start up the big battery gets charged up and that in turns keeps the solar generator battery charged up.
Sweeeeeet!!!!! I like the battery idea for your fridge.
Thanks!
Thanks for the sub! Mazda makes good vehicles, sound nice! Yeah the storage unit really opens up alot of possibilities
Practical and sensible setup! Thanks for sharing and wish you all the best!
Thanks for watching!
Appreciate that! You're absolutely to be living my dream life. Traveling around. Stay safe out there!
Im jealous
That’s a nice set-up 2006 Toyota RAV4 & up have some many room and space b cuz I owned a 2006 Toyota RAV4.
Nice, i love my Rav!
You are living great.not a lot but what you need 🎉🎉
Thank you🙏🏻
Very smart more watt hour in almost three time less price ,than fancy power station in market , bcz most important is watt hour in off grid living , thanks
Exactly!
I believe it's more efficient to charge the battery under your bed from you car via 12volt connection instead of the inverter. It would be simple to do with a continuous duty solenoid rated for the correct amperage.
I think you're correct
Very nice setup I like it so much and also I love to live in my Mazda CX 8.
Living outside and going for a long drive with a car is really so much fun 😊
Thats cool, mazda's are great vehicles! Long drives are the best😎
Let me know how you drain the Wave 2. On drain free mode for me, it will last maybe an hour. I like the unit but for me, you have to use the drain option.
Yeah i just drain it into a gallon jug, the drain free mode is kind of worthless
I like the options. At $100+ A night for a hotel-- This makes travel An option for people who are not going to spend thousands of dollars On hotel rooms. Also , Eating at restaurants And fast food has gotten very expensive. Removal of the back seat really opens up the space
Exactly! You get my thought process
@@RavRovingI really like everything there, I have the same SUV and I will start doing that, I want to live in it for few months to save money, but I still wondering how I say cold in the heat? That’s what really scares me, please help 🙏 how much do you think I need to keep the car cool like a house? Thanks a lot ❤️
Interesting, I’m somewhat intrigued as to where all your food , including water is kept other than your fridge
I keep a gallon water bottle that i take with me to work and refill throughout the day. And i forgot to include it in the video, but that blue tote you see in the video that is under my bed where the starlink is, thats where i keep cooking supplies and dry foods
Love how streamline and functional your set up is. Well thought out. Looks pretty pricey for all of the "necessities" you have acquired. Easily several thousands (US $$$$) in today's economy. Do you aspire to having a bigger vehicle as your next No-build ?
Appreciate it! I look at it from a more long term perspective. If i invest some money to make life comfortable this way it'll ultimately be cheaper spending thousands on rent a month. I think i will stick to my Rav because im comfortable in it
@@RavRoving I completely relate. Excellent plan.
Omg thank you for this video I have been looking for a air conditioner because I gave up van life because of the heat
Can you do some videos about staying warm and dry,
especially in the winter?
Highly suggest to mount some things on the wall but this is such a realistic set up. Love the video
Appreciate that man!
Thanks for sharing your setup. Love the no clutter
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching
Nix the air mattress, it’ll keep giving you problems over time. Nice and simple set up(my kind). Cover windows so you can hang w light inside rather than having to stay low always.
Good points
Good job with this car-living! Kept it simple, clean, functional, safe, and easy to use! Nice job!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing, this has got some great little tips like the nice battery!
Thanks for watching!
Lived in a Nissan pathfinder with my eco flow wave 2 it was a life saver
It's honestly a game changer
Well how long does it last on that power station?
@@piggy310 what?
At the end of your vid having watched many channels I have NEVER seen the battery that you plug your refrigerator Directly to your power source😱‼️I need to buy one. Great Vid and Thanks for Sharing Ideas Tips
👍👍⬆️
Yeah it's a nifty battery for sure. Thanks for watching the video!
Hey there Austin.I have just found you channel and I am so happy I did, I am now new subscriber .I was blown away with the fllyrower lifepo 4 ,I use a Ecoflow River Pro for my Engle Fridge/Freezer .Thankyou so much for your efforts putting this vlog together ,now im going to binge your other Videos😂Take Care Stay Save and more IMPORTANTLY have FUN Dude👍From Me V Australia the Land Down Under🥰
Thanks for the sub! The battery is a really good deal. I hope to make it to Australia one day to explore 😅
Thanks for the detailed information!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info on the battery!!! I'm definitely going to get it. I'll make sure i use your affiliate links.
I like your set up a lot, you definitely wouldn't know someone was sleeping in there. I've been watching vanlife videos for a couple years now. I just bought a Toyota Sienna a couple weeks ago and I'm starting to get it set up. I want to go to Quartzsite in January. I'll take a few trips in it this fall to prepare.
Stay safe out there- No more trips to the south side of Chicago 😂😂😂
Appreciate that! You'll have way more room than me in your sienna im jealous haha. When i hit the road full time I'll definitely have alot of arizona spots i want to see. And yeah no more south side Chicago trips😂😂
2:12 😂 “14 aug”
A.W.G., “Ay double-U gee,” is an acronym for American Wire Gauge. It represents how many times solid wire, as opposed to a modern stranded wire, would have been drawn through a die to achieve that outer diameter of the copper.
Im aware of what the acronym is and what they indicate...what exactly is your purpose for commenting?
Wow, living that car...Respect. I would get me a Ozzi Tent put it on the roof and take it of for sleeping.
I really like the set up….
Stealth mode in a Rav….
Thanks😎
What about cooking set up, do you have a pantry of sorts, bathroom?
I forgot to add it into my video, but if you look under where my starlink is stored you'll see a blue tote. That's where i keep my cooking supplies/dry food
Maybe put your StarLink antenna on a lazy Susan table so you can swivel the dish to get the best reception from the satellite.
That's a good idea!
Great setup, only change i would do is some front tint
Yeah that would help with the stealth
Fantastic.. definitely my style.. practical..simple .
Appreciate that
Hi I really like watching your videos ! I also have a Rav 4 too and I love it so much.
Thanks for watching my videos😅 Rav4's are the best
Powering the EcoFlow Wave 2 with AC has a 20% inverter loss. Wave 2 works well on 48V DC and external venting… otherwise it’s cooling the air with the waste heat.
Good to know!
How do you eat, cook, pots, pans, shower...that's all part of living too?
Have you got an opinion on using a RAV4 Hybrid instead of your set up.
Built in climate control
built in battery
built in generator
If money was less of a limitation would you consider a Hybrid rav4?
I definitely think a hybrid model would make this life way more simple for sure
@@RavRoving If you had a do over - is there any reasons you would not consider a Hybrid???
Good job nice well thought out plan thank you for sharing 😊
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching
Peplink with multiple cellular data links is far more reliable than satellite in urban areas. Peplink Transit Duo, two simultaneous LTE connections or the BR2 for 2x5G.
I like my starlink in my rural area
So far at night time temps it's worked great. Low 80s outside but i can get it down to 58° in my vehicle. Perfect for me since im out all day anyway
Make sure you’re venting that AC it will work a lot better make sure you get the AC drain too
I vent it out the window during long term use, for the sake of the video I just turned it on real qucik
Thanks for the tour, you have one of the best setups I’ve seen. Love the idea of the 100Ah battery with the eyelets/12v connection. Do you also run the ac off the 100ah battery?
Appreciate that! And no I'll usually use the bluetti for the ac unit to cool down the car
@@RavRoving okay thank you!
I just started living in my van, I'm spending way too much on food though. Most of it is due to the extremely hot weather right now, that in raccoons and squirrels state parks that get into everything.
Thank you for a great video. I'm just curious as to what the advantage is to getting the battery versus the power bank? Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks for watching! The battery is going to have more total power for a fraction of the cost of the power station. Only thing is that a power station has built in outlets
@@RavRoving Thank you so much! I confess electronics give me a headache, so it's good to know this is an option! 😊
Where do you keep your clothes and toiletries and kitchen supplies? Stove etc?
Under my bed
Brilliant young man 😊😊😊
Thanks😅
Just wondering, where do you find places around town to plug in? Thanks for sharing.
Alot of public parks in my area have outlets on their light posts, or under the canopy areas. Also my place of work has outlets on their street lights as well
Very nice! I have a Rav 4 and was wondering if you have to vent our air conditioner?
So I bought the battery highlighted in this video. I'm currently testing it to see how long it will power my fridge/freezer. Question tho- what is up with the power light on the battery that lights red in color? It's powering the fridge now but the light isn't on. When do you "turn it on" using the red button light?
Thank you
That red light activates the usb ports
@@RavRoving oh okay, thanks...
That isn't mentioned in the manual that I got with it. Ty
What do you use to check the remaining power in the battery?
I've had my freezer going now for over 24 hours and wondering how I check to see how much battery charge is left?
@originalsixx this is what I use. They probably sell them in stores too
a.co/d/338XUEm
Keeping it simple how much is the storage unit and do they mind you sleeping there?
It cost $40 a month. Its only a 5x5 storage locker. But usually storage units dont like if you sleep in them
I see. Good price I thought you rented the open garage part.
That’s a very sweet setup
Thanks!
Great video, would you consider a hybrid rav
it would definitely be more helpful, but I don't want the car payment haha
Omg thank you for the information on the power station
Where did you get the eco flow wave 2 window kit. The nylon looking one. Can you provide a link
That's a pretty comfortable minimalist setup! How do you cook or boil water? I noticed you had eggs, so I would imagine you'd need to cook them.
Thank you! I have a small propane stove i use for that
If the Ecoflow is blowing out hot air on the other end, doesn't it heat the cabin back up unless you vent the hot air to the outside?
it has a long vent hose that i vent out the window
How did u remove your front seat without creating a problem with the airbag system? 😊
what about the carz seat sensors & airbags alerts, etc.. after taking out seats, what year is the car, thanks
Something popped up on my dash i just cleared the code. My car is a 2018
Great setup thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I really like your setup.
appreciate that!
