We've been to Death Valley many times and just love it. It was the variation in the colours in the rocks, mountains and land that astounds me every time. The mauve/purple at Artist Pallet is sometimes hard to capture with the camera. One plus of the road to the kilns being closed is you now have an excuse to visit again! Hello Sue. Did you take this journey in late January? When you arrived at the end of Golden Canyon, about what time was it (frame 13:28)? And, do you have any idea when the last rain was before you filmed this trip?? Your filming is very helpful for me as a photographer . . . Thanks!
I was there on February 2nd, and it had rained on February 1st, and into the morning of the 2nd. Not sure what time I got to the end of Golden Canyon but I would guess around noon. The 360 degree view of the canyon was filmed at Red Cathedral peak, so if you're walking through Golden Canyon, follow signs for Red Cathedral, which is another 0.5mi.
So many questions .... Did you eat before taking those pictures .. ? What was the time in standard time ? Did it rain before your photoshoot ? Did you read the rocks or just call them?
Well, the questions are important, because they give me a sense of what the light is, and also the contrasts. And, Sue did a superb job of giving me an idea for timing, as well as how to get there.
