Hyperactive, hardworking, gorgeous dog who licks you to death. What's not to love ? Your understanding and lack of judgement of your dogs is brilliant.
Thank you Sean, you are so good at describing the nature of your dogs. You know them so well and you can put it into words so nicely. It is lovely to watch. Thanks. Enjoy your time with them.
Storm sounds like the surgeons ive worked with. When they are operating, they are calm and collected and easy. When not…they drove all us nurses mad fidgeting, questioning every little thing, winding everyone up without realizing it…just bundles of energy with no where to go!
Thanks for the closer look at Storm. She is such a beautiful dog. ... And oh, I can't wait to learn a bit more about Kate the Great. Yes, she is my favorite ❤
I used to call my border collie 'OCD dog' because she couldn't stop (like storm) lol. Grooming, patrolling the yard, chasing squirrels and birds, herding our cat, chewing her toys, etc. she had to keep everything in order ;-)
Thank god, Storm was born and rest her live at the countryside. Dogs like her breaking apart in the city. But, she is kinda special, she is quite awsome! 😊
It's like César Milan says when meeting a strange dog, "No talk, no touch, no eye contact. You forgot the most important thing about Storm and that is that's she's incredibly beautiful dog.
@@bmyra Uhm... He's an animal abuser? I am all for balanced training but this guy is brutal to dogs. He uses compulsive methods and believs in alpha theory.
Simply love the differences and good/cautions about all 3 dogs and your interactions with all of them! Kate the Great is all time best, but so is Storm and Echo! Loved the time wĥen shecame and took back her young just-birthed pup as if to say " that'll do!" Like no you can't take my pup! Lol made our hearts smile 😅
I enjoy your posts for a long time now and I don’t have my sheep. Thanks for doing a bio on Storm. I’m also interested in your question on why Storm likes elevated areas to chill out. I know about cats and elevaofor safety. Could Storm be part cat.
Your management of Storm's over-enthusiasm is basically what Jan Fennell recommends in "The Dog Listener.' She calls it the Five Minute Rule . On coming home, no eye contact, no talking to the dogs, no interaction at all for the first five minutes.
Lovable tomboyish girl, Storm!🥰🥰Good to see the storm has all recovered (+ increased energy)🥰The overflowing energy of the storm is definitely passed on to the running energy of Echo🥰
Thanks for introducing Storm in such a nuanced way-it’s very interesting how her behavior varies whether she’s at home or working. Your descriptions made a lot of sense to me! And I can sure see more how much of a team she makes with Echo. 😊
Thank you so much for this awesome portrait of beautiful Storm! I love her so much, because she has pretty much the same temperament like my 11 year old, male border collie Logan. He also wants to be elevated, he needs a lot of attention and affection, and he has a huge collection of toys (which he knows by name), and we rotate through them daily. He doesn't get along with most other dogs because of his energy, but he once was friends with an older, blind dog (who kept his cool around Logan). Logan is friends with a tiny Maltese terrier named Yuki. They have a similar energy, and they like to play tug or, when outside, they knock over buckets full of water (they then chase the water to see where it flows). Logan loves to meet people, also new ones, but he barks at joggers when they ignore him. I guess he thinks they're sheep.😂 Keep the fantastic, and very informative videos coming, Sean!
Another great video Sean giving us some insight into Storm's personality. You are very fortunate to be blessed with these three magnificent Border Collies, and I'm glad that you chose to spotlight each of them individually. Looking forward to to hearing about the matriarch of this wonderful family. 😀
My 11yo rescue female JRT mix loves being elevated. She loves to observe and sniff whilst perched on her tree stump in the garden, and indoors on the top of the sofa back. Storm is amazing, as are all of them! 💕🐾
Always best to not approach any dog just ignore them let them approach you not direct eye contact. It's the best way to make a new friend. Chewing is like a pacifer it's calming and makes dogs happy. I love Storm and I love how you know your dogs. To me it's just wonderful. She likes to push and tess. You do know that's a really intelligent dog.😊 Love what you do. 🐾❤️
Storm is a hard worker who loves Sean so much that he inspires me.❣️🤭 Seeing the interactions between Stom and Sean, who is overwhelmed by Storm’s stronglove, makes me feel happy . ☘️☘️👨 🐶💨💕💕☘️☘️ Storm’s honest heart and beautiful fur are wonderful. ✨✨✨
Thank you so much for this, Sean! The first video I watched on your channel was when you were herding with Storm, and you said that you need to trust your dog when herding on that spot of the hill. I was in awe seeing Storm herding for the first time. Storm is my favorite, I love her eyes. I can see her passion for work and affection in them. With her energy, she's living up to her name. Stormy, you're definitely a beautiful and an intelligent dog!
Love your channel and watching the dogs work and run and man, can they run, well it is more like flying very low to the ground at mach 2 :D . You're doing a brilliant job with them.
It's interesting that you say Storm doesn't care for people who come in & make a fuss over her right away---as a teacher & an auntie, I find that young children are the same way---anyone who comes in all cooing & talking baby talk & forcing themselves on them. Small kids tend to like me b/c I wait for them to come to me after quietly saying hello. My greyhound was so upset by people who fawned over her the minute they met her that she would bite them---very unusual greyhound behavior. The dog I have now is the opposite, totally happy-go-lucky, would tell a burglar, "Come on in, pet me, what can I get for you?" I would say that Storm is a perfect example of a highly enthusiastic dog that needs a job, a good description of most border collies. And she wanted to grow up to be tall like you, sean, so she stands on things!
Hey Sean 👋 👋 good to finally see your arms, hopefully the weather is turning around for Scotland. Storm the middle child ❤❤ Why is the no eye contact effectivel. Met a Cane Corso, and knew and told owner the rule but didn't no the why..the dog responded and came to me.. Storm has good habits and they all 3 get on so well. My sister and I had brother spaniels who would fight fearcly had to keep them apart while outside. Abrupt ending 👋 👋
You realy know your Dogs . Its sad in the city .i see people with earbuds on walking there dog and you know they have tuned out the dog . Then i see. Fat doggs . Ive also talked to city dog owners and they know nothing of the breed .very sad . Thankyou for showing us your wonderful doggs .
I love Storm. If Border Collies are the most intelligent dog breed, wouldn't Storm's trait of pushing boundaries align with that? And she is intelligent enough to know when to try it - not at work. It may be a little annoying now and then, but it is an asset. And besides, somebody named her Storm. Gotta live up to her name sometimes.
This series of character descriptions of your dogs is fantastic! I have a border collie who has a lot of character traits in common with Storm and Echo (work-drive, meeting other people, too much energy for some other dogs). It takes a huge effort from me constantly explaining to other people that they should not treat her like a Labrador. People tend to have these stereotypes of how dogs are - or supposed to be - and they thus put a lot of working dogs in uncomfortable situations. With people people realize that for example there are introverts and extroverts, with dogs, many people are not aware of their specific needs.
you explaining her personality was very much the description of my Kelpi! Someone told me that when they climb on something high, it's another way for them to assert themselves.
This is so informative. I have a Border Collie. She's a "rescue". I know her back story. She had very little people association when she was a puppy. I got her when she was 4 months old. I'd never had a BC. We bonded immediately. I'd say, fortunately for me, she's a type B - not hyper but she is different. I've had other dogs. What I find is that she is very particular as to the dogs she likes. I don't know why but she's in love with my brother's Golden Doodle. When I walk her I don't let her engage with other dogs because I don't know how she'll take it. She is not agressive but she'll stand her ground. She is the most intelligent dog I've ever had - ZERO herding instinct. My BIL has always had BC's. He adopts dogs that have been abused by shepherds. If a dog won't work, they can be beaten. He has one dog now who after my 3 years of knowing her will not get within 6 ft of me. Since I understand this it doesn't bother me. If you raise your hand she cowers because she has been abused. Some BC's get better when they "age out" and I have to say this dog is getting closer to me. I doubt she'll ever let me pet her.
Thanks so much for this video and the one about Echo. I love hearing about their personalities and working styles. I also love seeing them interact with you!
Have always had some sort of platform on or near doghouse. Don't know about standing, but they seemed to prefer to be up higher. Mainly, laying in the sun
I had a dog (Chow-Chow), she also liked being up high. I interpreted this as seeking the advantage of high ground. She was friendly, and non-aggressive. She is missed.
This is a great dog. I think her liking for elevations may relate to wanting to see around her. She likes to know what is going on and whether there is anything of interest approaching.
Storm’s affection for you is obvious. Love her energy.❤ it’s infectious!
Storm making sure you got a good clean there 😂

Your blessed to have dogs that love you and will give everything for you. For They are truly gifted.
"She just confuses her tongue with her teeth sometimes." LOL!!! (me too sometimes!)
Just before you commented on how clean Storm keeps herself, I was noticing how brilliant her white fur is and how shiny the black is.
Storm sounds like the surgeons ive worked with. When they are operating, they are calm and collected and easy. When not…they drove all us nurses mad fidgeting, questioning every little thing, winding everyone up without realizing it…just bundles of energy with no where to go!

Agreed, although this rule is rather commonly known amongst dog trainers so no need to mention that guy.
