My neighbours kept their wellies upside down on wellie holders outside their back door. They were puzzled when, one at a time, they started disappearing, until our local sheep farmer told them one day, that he was baffled by the pile of assorted wellies that was building up next to the sheepdog kennels.😂
My collie hates cleaning cloths - any scourer or micro fibre cloth that's left on the floor for a millisecond - out into the garden and bury it as deep as you can. Sadly she does it to my hats and gloves too if she get the chance
Perfect Kate! She knows her job and does it well! She also produced another lovely girl who produced a beautiful son. Kate can see herself runn8ng into the future with Storm and Echo!. I have no doubt that Kate was a wonderful ,mother!🥰❤️❤️
Kate was the first dog I saw you running on UA-cam. Her intensity when she site on the back of the bike is endearing. She knows when you are about to release her, and she is always off like a rocket! Love the videos, and the Dogs. Keep the videos coming, and I'll keep watching! There is nothing better than a Working Dog, in their element, doing what they are bred and trained to do!
I just love Kate’s cheeky snaps! To me they are the border collie version of a swear word, as if she’s calling the cows “b@stard!” as they go past her 🤣🤣
One thing I am reminded of over and over again when I am socializing with sheepdogs is their exquisite sensitivity. I think that lies at the heart of some of their behaviours that are most incomprehensible to us. I have a rescue dog whose mother was a Border Collie and his Dad was an Anatolian Shepherd. He does the "snap" thing when he thinks supper is late, and when he wants to be brushed. Please give Queen Kate cuddles from me. She's just such a great dog, you are both so lucky to have each other! 🥰🐾🐾🐾❤️🙏
She's acting precious and social. Kate snapping her jaw when you look at her is similar to a dog we had. It wasn't aggressive it was a game of cutesy, like a form of Doggie Dare; "I'll try and scare you when you look at me..okay?". Whenever you leaned in, our dog would hide his head in his bankie.
I find that the quirkiest people and animals are the most loyal and I typically have a deeper connection with them. I've heard that from horse trainers quite often. Their best horses had silly little quirks, but they never tried to break those quirks. From experience, they learned that if they tried to break them of those silly quirks the "spirit" or "light" would leave and the connection would be lost. The little things matter ❤
"Weaponised timidness" is such an amazing description, I instantly knew _exactly_ the behaviour you're talking about! LOL Smart, sensitive dogs like Kate are an absolute joy & there's something truly special about the bond you form. 💜 And while I've only just found your content & don't have full context from other videos, Kate's 'snapping' @ 2:00 strikes me as a "silent bark" of sorts... a quiet way of communicating loudly, if that makes any sense. You can tell she's intentionally making a tapping sound with her teeth each time but I can't hear any other vocalisations bubbling up, like a lot of dogs will do when they are snapping playfully. And if she's very sensitive to loud noise & big movement, she may have developed this as a way to communicate frustration, excitement, or to grab attention without barking & startling the cows & sheep... and now it's just evolved into a little game with you. 😊 They all have their wonderful quirks, as do we! My Weimaraner was a big sook & he'd "talk" to me constantly through grumbling & huffing... he'd even huff & snore when he was asleep! 😂 While in contrast, a friend's very sensitive Dalmatian would rarely vocalise but we developed a greeting where she'd 'smile' & chatter her teeth together to let me know how happy she was... my friend loved seeing people's reaction when we'd bump into each other in public, seeing this woman & a dog smiling & chattering at each other! 😏
I love Kate too; she reminds me of my Tess, in looks and behaviour. Being older, is she retired? Tess liked to watch other dogs walking in front of our house. She loved people too. What happens when Border Collie retire?
Queen Kate, The People’s Favorite-Oh I love her! and that she’s a klepto 😂 She knows she might need those wrappers one day😊 such a joy to listen to you as always ❤️ Michigan, USA 🇺🇸
Really appreciate what you said Sean. Good details about Kate's abilities and disposition. You're very attuned to your dogs. If I ever get to Scotland I'd like to meet you and the dogs.
I didn't hear Kate's age. I know she's older, but she has some gray and hoping she stays well. Lost my Last border collie to lymphoma at 12. I miss her every day. First time in my 52 yrs of marriage without a dog. I lost her the same month I was diagnosed with incurable cancer, and 25 years ago had lymphoma. I LOVE BORDER COLLIES. I watch your site everytime you have a new story.
Sean, living the life of Reilly with his faithful companion Kate. If I win megabucks, that farm and land will be yours for you and Stacy. You belong to the land. Gorgeous .
Kate is so special. I love your dogs. Each of them are amazing. Thank you for sharing your fur babies with us. May the Lord bless and keep you and Stacy. And each of the fur babies. Love from a sister in Christ.
Kate, part time grand matriarch, part time thief😂. What a character! I didnt know she was so friendly with people. Thanks for all the details about her Sean, bless you and your family 🙏
How cute to see you all relaxing. At first the dogs acted like they wondered where the holiday sheep were! Nice to see them relaxing, good for a working hound!
Love Kate the Great, Miss Personality! The love and respect for your devoted working staff, the beautiful collies, is palpable. Thank you for another enjoyable video.
I loved how she looked at you when you telling her kleptomania cracked me up. That snap almost looks like a silent bark. When she did it to you I expected a bark. She reminds me of my Kenzie, who had her energy, he was a barker. The eyebrows and her energy make her a star!
Came across these videos just now. Beautiful dogs. I had a border collie when I was a child in England. Love the Scottish scenery. Great videos. Thank you. From Fountain Hills , Arizona. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
Thank you so much for the "get to know" about Kate. My girl Tonka was much like Kate, but less affectionate, even aloof. Similar attitude towards other dogs, but very dominant. I now have a little Red Collie with a heart defect, my companion that simply loves life.
All of your dogs are beautiful, but Kate has such a personality. I absolutely love your accent, I could listen to you talk all day! One of these days I will visit Scotland, I live in Oklahoma, United States.
Kate is adorable, quirks and all. Reminds me of a couple of things similar to my bordie collie who recently passed Jet. He did the snappy of the mouth and lost part of his bottom front tooth by trying to 'wrangle' a chainsaw when he was young, and laying low and watching and waiting. I truly believe he would have been a fantastic sheep dog. We have another from a different breader, he is fast. I think Kate is my favourite. Thank you again for sharing her with us. Love from Australia
❤ I love all 3 of them, but there's something special about Kate 🫶. I'm very impressed by your discription of your dogs. I don't think I could describe my late boy that accurately, you definitely know your dogs very well 🫡❤❤. Thanks Sean, it was a pleasure 😊. I love that she steals things and hide them in her bed 😂❤.
Sean, I love your channel because I love watching your border collies as they work and run like the wind. It's hard now because I just lost my 14 yr. old male BC to old age just a month ago, just one month shy of his 15th birthday. His back legs had atrophied over the past couple of years, but he had been able to push himself up from a lying position to get up on all fours and his hind legs would swing into action. I would take him to the vet every couple of months for a laser treatment on his spine and hind legs and a shot for his arthritis, but it would only delay the inevitable. On Sunday, September 8, we had a bit of cooler weather, and I saw my Scotty push the door open from my den to my patio and go out into the grass where he lay down and was enjoying the cooler weather. His head was up and he looked relaxed. I began working on cooking a pot roast in my kitchen, and was occupied with that for a bit over an hour, and when I looked out the window, he was not where I had last seen him. I went into the back yard and found him lying next to my tool shed, and he was panting heavily trying to get up but couldn't. His front legs had given out and he just collapsed. I picked him up and tried to get him to stand but he collapsed again. I brought him inside and got a bag of ice and put it on his neck, trying to cool him down as he was overheated. I remembered our little kiddie wading pool and got it out of my shed and put a couple inches of water in it and laid him in it and with my cupped hand splashed water over his back and head. It worked and cooled him down. Then I laid him on a towel on my patio to dry him off and eventually carried him inside and put him on his bed in the corner of my den. My wife was out of town for the night and when she got back that afternoon, Scotty tried to rally a bit when he saw her, but he still couldn't stand. He refused water and food. I comforted him in the evening and lay next to him on his bed and stroked his head and told him I loved him, and we fully expected that he would pass in the night, but he was still alive the next morning. His time had come. I called our vet and we took him there later in the morning to end his suffering. God, it was so hard, and it never gets easier even though I had been through this before with several of our dogs over the years. This dog was just so special to me. My wife was with me at the vet clinic, and when the aide came in to shave his leg to insert the i. v., I kissed him on the head and said my goodbye. I just couldn't stay until the very end. It was too hard. I loved that dog like a child and he was my constant companion for nearly 15 years. He had amazing herding instincts but he was just our family pet. I live in a city and had no sheep for him to herd. The man we got him from would go to Wales and Scotland every few years to buy his breeding dogs, and according to this man, my dog's great-great grandfather on the dame's side was an international sheepherding champion from Scotland. That's why we named him Scotty. The house still seems empty without him here, as it's just my wife and me and our cat now. My two kids are grown and gone with their own families now, and we're in our mid-70's and will just have to cherish the incredible memories and photos we have from our life with this amazing Border Collie named Scotty. Hopefully, the grief will pass in time but he will never be forgotten. I have such admiration for Border Collies, they are truly astounding creatures. Scotty so resembled your dogs. My best to you and your wife and your amazing dogs, from south Louisiana.
Kate the “Snapper”. Cracks me up! It’s been really special getting to know the dogs and their unique characters. Thank you, Sean! When it’s time to wean the babies, the moms can get really stern. It may appear even mean. I watched the same thing happen with my cat when it was time for the kittens to stop nursing.
You say that she is a fan favorite? How could she not be?! All of your dogs are incredible but Kate stands alone above them. I have had a dozen dogs over the course of my life and she is something special.
Superb dog, your Kate, -- thanks for this detailed profile of her, wondrous individual that she is! We so enjoy these posts -- thanks a million for doing them.
Sean! That was super interesting and really fascinating. The 12 minutes just flew by. Thank you and God bless you❣❣Love from San Diego, California, USA❤
Mom had a 2 day yard sale several years ago and asked if she could keep my Border Collie overnight so she could leave her stuff out and not have to put it out again the next day. Sunday morning when mom went out she discovered that during the night Delilah had shoplifted all of the stuffed animals and they were never seen again!
Lovely Kate is the spitting image of my precious Lacey that made it to within a week of 16 years old. She was the daughter of Imp. Mirk that won the Futurity here in the US and Imp. Flo that was the Purina Pro finals #4 one year. I only ran her in Novice trials because I was a novice but her breeding and instincts made us look like pros. She placed in the top 3 in every trial I ran her in. She used to try to run behind the big floor print big screen TV we had in the day to try to get behind the sheep when we’d watch One Man and His Dog episodes. What a sweet, sweet girl. I’ll miss her always even as my current 3 year old Winston enjoys your wonderful videos with me here on our couch in Ohio tonight.
Correction…She placed top 3 in all trials we ran in except one in MN where she had only lost one point through the cross-drive where a ewe turned on her and would not budge. Lace gave her a bit and then she nipped (like a shark bite a spectator told me) to get her moving. That was the end of that run and I still don’t blame her for giving that ewe the what for. 😊
I am really glad you gave personality profiles of your dogs, as it puts into perspective the herding effort on the field, and the brain of each one working with you to steer it all home! ...you're up next - tell us all of your quirks and good/bad habits! oh and you'll need to roll around in the grass and let us rub your belly! 🤣haha ha!
Aww, she’s just like Tessa, the first Border Collie my hubby and me had in 1985 until 1999. She was a failed sheep dog, but she was our first ‘baby girl’. I consequently gave birth to our first daughter in 1987 who was brought up with her and who became a registered veterinary nurse inspired by Tessa. We have since had two more Border Collies, who have since passed away, but had great lives. I have only just discovered this channel and love it 👍🏼
Thank you for the Kate meet and greet. 😂 what a treasure. My Lulu is a klepto. She steals my underwear and takes it outside. Lol. Then it all ends up behind her favorite chair. 😂 I love these videos.
When my BC, Matisse, got over excited he would nip. There’s a LOT of power behind those tiny nips and the bruise would last for months. In general, he was a darling. Thanks Sean.
Sean’s not just a good talker, he’s a good communicator and a good editor as well🥰. He understands his animals. Love the highlighting of Kate’s interesting “quirks” … very endearing and brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart. We get a glimpse of God’s creation - that is, animals and landscape. All in all, Sean’s videos are very uplifting and a welcomed distraction from today’s world events and tragedies. It’s an oasis (not a mirage) in a barren world🙏💕
Thanks for the insights, each is different which is good . One of mine had clearly been beaten as a pup. It took years for him to trust folks but when he did ...amazing . Carry on your great work and we are learning through you 👍
One of our Border Collies is "nervous" like Kate. She prefers to stick closely to me and likes to watch the wildlife out the windows. When you were on holiday at the beach, I got a chuckle because Kate was watching the other dogs out the window, just like my Border, Tyra. Her sister loves to go outside.
Really enjoying hearing more about Kate: an independent, loving, matriarch. Definitely “Kate the Great”😀😀😀😀😀. She has many of the traits I’ve experienced with my Border Collies👍.
Kate is a beauty. When she is looking at you while you are speaking you can see the hearts shooting out of her eyes. 😍❤️
That eye contact is beautiful to see.
❤🐾
@@mortalclown3812I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT😊
Kate is a treasure. You are lucky to have her!
Kate is adorable. Good worker, good mom, good grandmom

Fascinating series of videos looking at each of your dogs. Thanks for doing that! Really interesting to watch.

Ah, Kate the Great, who loves letting a big group of sheep know who's in charge! I love that she's a hoarder, too, that's kind of cute!
Sort of a Border Hoarder 😊😂😂😂😊

The grey on her muzzle tells you she's the grand dame of the pack. But she still has a youthful vigor and drive.
She physically fit and only 7 1/2😀

Clearly Kate love’s to be caressed and petted.
she loves the touch of your hand.

I LOVE these chats about the dogs. Kate is so beautiful and you can tell she wants to please you.❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Weaponised timidness" is such an amazing description, I instantly knew _exactly_ the behaviour you're talking about! LOL Smart, sensitive dogs like Kate are an absolute joy & there's something truly special about the bond you form. 💜
And while I've only just found your content & don't have full context from other videos, Kate's 'snapping' @ 2:00 strikes me as a "silent bark" of sorts... a quiet way of communicating loudly, if that makes any sense.
They all have their wonderful quirks, as do we! 😏
I love Kate's attitude! She is so motivated! So naturally beautiful in action. Thanks for sharing Kate, Storm & Echo!
What a great, informative video of the Quirky Kate! She’s a real beauty!❤❤❤

Kate is truly a force to be reckoned with ❤❤❤
Joy to watch his and to see the working relationship and bond you have. Our animal companions teach us so much about healthy relationships.
Kate is a beautiful dog & super herder!❤❤❤
I don’t do favourites but if I did I would have Kate, Storm and Echo (in no particular order!) You are so lucky to have such talented dogs. 🐾💙
Kate is a awesome girl !!!!!! Gorgeous too !!!!
I have only just discovered this channel and love it 👍🏼
You take the MOST MAJESTIC PHOTOS!!!❤
🐶🐾
Thank you for the Kate meet and greet. 😂 what a treasure. My Lulu is a klepto. She steals my underwear and takes it outside. Lol. Then it all ends up behind her favorite chair. 😂 I love these videos.
Thanks for sharing your pack with us Sean-I love all of them for who they each are❤
ALL YOUR DOGS ARE LOVELY, SMART AND QUITE
When my BC, Matisse, got over excited he would nip. There’s a LOT of power behind those tiny nips and the bruise would last for months. In general, he was a darling. Thanks Sean.
Our bearded spaniel does the same snapping thing. So sassy! I ❤ Kate! (and Echo and Storm).
Brilliant to know the character of your dogs, such a good understanding...
I LOVE KATE !! She reminds me of my grandpas cattle dog that he had when i was a kid. She looks just like him. - From south GA
Carry on your great work and we are learning through you 👍
Kate's snapping reminds of her saying, "Hey Linda, listen to me Linda!" But, in a Scottish accent!!😂😂😂
I love to watch Kate when she has a large group of sheep❤Hope you are going to let us get to know Monty too.!
