Please do more battles like this with the other players. I've been binging TableTop Tactics videos to fill the 40k gulf in my life and now I just want more of the same thing from the yogs! Maybe reach out to them for a collab? Would be amazing to see
Errors compilation: - Lewis keeps forgetting to use "My will be done" on his overlord - Lewis forgets that the triarch stalker has quantum shielding - Lewis forgets that the monolith has living metal - Lewis warriors could have hit duncan's wolves in the combat, the attack restriction only applied to duncan Dammit Lewis Also, what did Lewis do to anger the dice gods, seriously... Could he have rolled any worse this game???
That one isn't actually an issue, because the kit doesn't come with a flying stand from GW, it is official used as Lewis has it, so everything behind is LOS blocked
They are new back to tha hobby and while the rules are much much more simplified, they are still hard to grasp to a beginer. Lewis picked the rule of cool over what was good. I mean he had his professional painter friend paint his Monolith. No-one buys monoliths anymore because they are such a point sink, that their effectiveness goes out the window.
The thunderwolves piling into the necron warriors was correct however Lewis does get a chance to swing at them. Check in the fight phase under "who can fight" its either units that have completed a charge or has an enemy within 1" of them. Great content lads love the krak grenade barrage keep it up!
The chaplain on a bike was surrounded and as there was no physical way to move passed the scarabs he can't fall back, you can't move through enemy models unless a model has a special rule that specifically says so.
arround the 20 min mark where the wolves got consolidated into 1'' of the necron warriors, those necrons could attack back in melee, only the wolves couldn't attack what they didn't charge.
Multicharges are very much a thing, however in a turn that you charged you are only allowed to allocate attacks to a unit that you charged. In subsequent rounds of combat you can attack any unit within an inch
I don't know marines too well so I'm not sure. Heroic Intervention is now an action that all characters can take in the charge phase - if an enemy model ends a charge within 3" of a character then that character may make a 3" pile in at the end of the phase.
Really enjoying this tabletop series, but having never been exposed to Warhammer until recently, is there any way we could get a tutorial series? I've looked for other channels, but just like this one better.
Frankly, these aren't the guys to teach you. Most of them are new to the game, and even the ones who've played before are learning the rules for this new edition. There are a LOT of mistakes going on here.
This shit is fantastic, do a million of these! I think on ongoing series with battles between different players. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy, but having an overarching story like each battle is part of a larger war would be dope!
13:56 I don't think you are actually allowed to move the biker out of combat here as you can't move over other units unless you have the fly keyword. he would be stuck in combat
Duncan: Also, you can't retreat someone from combat if there's no space to actually move him away from the scarabs; your leader should've been stuck. Ben: Nothing much to say, except that it's good behavior to not count dropped dice. Fun game, guys, looking forward to more!
Carbon, there's a lot of tabletop groups (Warhammer, D&D, etc) that follow a sort of rule where unintentional/dropped dice need to be rerolled. It's not a rule but generally people deem it table manners
"Just rifle fire" Ben those are primaris marines firing bolters. Rapid fire gas propelled adamantium tipped armour piercing mass reactive grenades. There isn't much in the galaxy that enough bolted fire won't bring down.
Brilliant game. I like how they are just playing the game for fun rather than optimizing their lists or power gaming. Makes it more enjoyable to watch.
3v3ryth1ng1s4w350m3 Yeah but if we wanna look at mistakes we should look no further than Lewis choosing to bring a Monolith instead of 2 ghost arks and 2 crypteks. That's when he lost hahaha
Leb, it isn't try-harding to bring Ghost Arks in a battle with 4 ThunderPuppies and a Rune Priest. If duncan was halfway decent with his army, he could sweep with that unit. He made a very big mistake bringing a Rifleman and a AssCan Razorback. If he ran Vanguard or Outrider (whatever puppies count as), he would dominate.
I remember reading those old GW magazines where they'd have a Battle Report.. I dunno those hand camera shots just reminded me of the loving pictures they took of their recorded battles. Good nostalgia bump there.
I'm imagining that leuitenant staggering back in slo-mo as he's shot and the necrons think they've killed him but then he uses his foot to stabilise himself and the music picks up into this epic tune while he narrowly dodges the light-beam
Love these wish they come closer instead of every three days tho :\ and at 13:50 the character couldn't disengage due to being surrounded, only flyers can move over units
These videos is slowly making me want to dig out my old old Tyranids from back of the storage and give them the painting that they deserve - the least I can do for the little buggers, when finding someone who still "plays" the game is quite tricky where I live. Kudos for the videos!
wish you had a more fair scenario, I understand that lewis isnt really competeing with duncan and ben, but i would prefer something where it wasn't so heavily against one player.
11:30 If you want cheesy grenades, I just bought the new imperial guard codex and they have a stratagem where every model in the unit can use grenades instead of just one. Gonna re-read it later to confirm, but if that stratagem can be used on Conscripts...
Lewis' warriors could have attacked back. Any unit can activate in the assault phase that charged, or is 1" from an enemy unit. By consolidating his wolves towards them, it allows them to activate
Since nobody seemed to care to do it for the Space Wolves, I'll take it on: - Duncan's Thunderwolf Cavalry have the Keyword, so Lewis' portal of Exile cannot activate on them - I know they find out towards the end but Duncan's Dreadnought is only firing one twin-autocannon, instead of 2 - This is about Lewis, he pulled 2 command points from out of his ass, he had 0CP left and could not even spend the 1CP on the re-roll to even re-roll the dice to suck the Thunderwolf Cavalry into the portal This isn't about the game, but these are some things wrong with Duncan's paintjobs: - His Grey Hunters ("Normal marines") right shoulder should be black and red, not white and black. Red and Black designates a pack as Battline, where Black and white means ranged support (Long Fangs) - Duncan's Wolf Priest on bike should have black armor, as Wolf Priests wear black armor just like Chaplains
Loving this series! Could we have some more of both the gameplay and modelling videos. I love those especially cos I do my own modelling at the same time and it feels like I'm with you guys which is awesome
ive not played 40k for a while, and whilst i do find primaris marines to be rather silly in concept, im glad to see space marines actually seem to feel like space marines now, rather than just slightly tougher troops.
Ben really needs to make more content of his own he defintly has what it takes and has become a key member of the yogscast family with all his apparences in other yogscast related videos
Or alternatively just learn to use his units' abilities so that the Necrons don't look so shit. They're standardly weak literally because they have abilities to balance it out, it's basically just disadvantaging himself without using them.
I do belive Ben should declair and roll separatly for each leader and not as a squad. Since they are independant units, as he is not and rolling as a squad this realy powers his abilitys to reroll. Since the rerolls should be specific to that character not the entiresquad.
Dident know it was an aura, never realy read up on thouse chars, been awhile since i played with my chaos, but most skills where either squad or character based. And since he states that 2 characters have thouse abilitys to reroll and never stated that its an aura then its character based and should be rolled seperatly. But if its an aura of 6 inches its kinda a broken cheat ish setup hes got.
It could change the outcome of the dice. Any random movement of the roll could change based on how the dice interact with each other. But this isn't exactly a competitive game, so it doesn't really matter. But if you were to play a game in a more serious way you should do each unit individually, and all of Ben's captains would also each have their own movement.
have the rules changed for 40k where you can back out of melee when surrounded? cuz last time i played if you were surrounded on all sides in melee you were trapped. and if im right duncans biker shouldnt of got out of combat with the necron warriors and scarabs
All I can think about is how this much be easier this would be as a computer game instead, you wouldn't need to memorise the rules or measure everything.
When I have the odd game I get fatigued quite fast, think you might need an extra dude with the camera and some refreshments lol, what might work well is a dice app you can overlay. Look forward to seeing more

Can't wait for the collab vid you made. Now I've got my fingers crossed for it to include some 40k.

Dammit Lewis
Also, what did Lewis do to anger the dice gods, seriously... Could he have rolled any worse this game???
Joel Ritter also u can't hide guys behind a monolith because it should be floating.
That one isn't actually an issue, because the kit doesn't come with a flying stand from GW, it is official used as Lewis has it, so everything behind is LOS blocked
Oh! That's handy!
What dynasty was he as well? did he pick one, pretty sure he forgot any dynasty rules. Mephrit would have been great.
you should do a championship, see who wins after every series or whatever, include everyone who has an army in the office and see who wins overall :D
You can't fall back if the unit is surrounded. Duncan's bike moves OVER the Scarabs which isn't allowed unless you fly...
I like Duncan’s mix of bikers and wolf cavalry. Gives quite a cool vibe, ferocious beasts, and roaring machines, carrying drunk Vikings into battle...
2:56 "I need a whole 4 inches" - Lewis Brindley 2017.
arround the 20 min mark where the wolves got consolidated into 1'' of the necron warriors, those necrons could attack back in melee, only the wolves couldn't attack what they didn't charge.

+Jacob Thorne They have probably gotten better with 8th ed, i mean they are space marine's after all. lul
I am loving this series, please keep them coming! Can't wait to see Smith's Orks.
DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am loving this series, hoping that you will continue. This has gotten me into warhammer
Love 40k can’t wait for the tau
we've gotten hit huge in 8th so i wana see if Sgyn can do a decent job with out the spam
But they can't even fight in melee!
True but they have heavy firepower
Phil o'Saeufer not everything is Melee I have a single unit that pumps our 41 S5 shots at 15"
Ell Bennett It was a reference to 'If the Emperor had a text to speecg device' by Bruva Alfabusa
Lewis, your stalker has quantum shielding, could have ignored those d6 damage
Not D6, He had to roll 3 1's to not suffer 6 wounds. However with his dogshit rolling that would be easy.
Really enjoying this tabletop series, but having never been exposed to Warhammer until recently, is there any way we could get a tutorial series? I've looked for other channels, but just like this one better.
They should do a how to play series, but if you want to watch a tutorial, try miniwargaming.
Winters SEO, StrikingScorpion82, Tabletop Tactics, Visicast, and many many more
MiniwarGaming does good how to play series
Frankly, these aren't the guys to teach you. Most of them are new to the game, and even the ones who've played before are learning the rules for this new edition.
There are a LOT of mistakes going on here.
Be thankfull were not in 7e, thats a pain to learn.
Yes! I was worried it was gonna be a once a week thing. I am getting hyped for the Friday night game right tomorrow, and this is really helping!
Love these miniature wargaming videos, you guys are awesome and keep going!
Glorious! Yogscast keep making Warhammer 40k content, FOR THE EMPEROR!
Enjoying this immensely, I hope you do more of this! Keep up the good work
Duncan: Also, you can't retreat someone from combat if there's no space to actually move him away from the scarabs; your leader should've been stuck. Ben: Nothing much to say, except that it's good behavior to not count dropped dice. Fun game, guys, looking forward to more!
The monolith doesn't suffer to hit penalties for moving and firing heavy weapons. It has a special rule
Nick Mabey Ah! Don't see much necrons myself so didn't know. I'll edit my post, thanks.
Up to them to decide to count dropped dice, not a warhammer rule.
Very few things do but monoliths are one them :P
Carbon, there's a lot of tabletop groups (Warhammer, D&D, etc) that follow a sort of rule where unintentional/dropped dice need to be rerolled. It's not a rule but generally people deem it table manners

Yes! I couldn't wait for this to come out after I saw the first 1.
This has been great! Hope you all play more.
Brilliant game. I like how they are just playing the game for fun rather than optimizing their lists or power gaming. Makes it more enjoyable to watch.
God I'm loving this. Can't wait to see everyone else play, too.
Maybe add a birds eye view camera for future games? Loving the series so far
Lewis forgot about my will be done on the overlord
3v3ryth1ng1s4w350m3 Yeah but if we wanna look at mistakes we should look no further than Lewis choosing to bring a Monolith instead of 2 ghost arks and 2 crypteks. That's when he lost hahaha
Yeah, but that would be try-harding. And we all know the Yogscast policy on try-harding. Hue
Lewis forgot ALL the things.
The only reason Lewis is getting rekt right now is because he doesn't have any Sneks
And he forgot his quantum shields
He needs more protec!
Harry Cope don't forget attac!
He protecc,
He Attacc
But most importantly
He's never coming back.
The necrons are definitely coming back... teleported in from somewhere in the Milky Way
Why lewis no use "my will be done" from his overlord on his blob of 20 warriors?
he is still new and doesn't know 8th ed very well :)
Can't wait for smiths ork army
I remember reading those old GW magazines where they'd have a Battle Report.. I dunno those hand camera shots just reminded me of the loving pictures they took of their recorded battles. Good nostalgia bump there.
The lack of Egyptian space wizard salt and pepper shakers dissapoints me. All is dust
I'm imagining that leuitenant staggering back in slo-mo as he's shot and the necrons think they've killed him but then he uses his foot to stabilise himself and the music picks up into this epic tune while he narrowly dodges the light-beam
Love these wish they come closer instead of every three days tho :\

wish you had a more fair scenario, I understand that lewis isnt really competeing with duncan and ben, but i would prefer something where it wasn't so heavily against one player.
It is the curse of being a necron user. Well at least from what has happened to me.
Lewis has double the army points though
Rory Sheridan that doesnt seem right cause that would give him 1500 points then if im not mistaken.
He has been unlucky with his rolls and is forgetting a lot of necron abilities.
Naa neither of you are right :) both space marine armies are 500 pointers and the necrons are 750 points.
The necron warriors can hit back I believe.
I’ve never heard of Warhammer until you guys started this series, but it seems incredibly interesting!
Duncan @ modelling greyhunters, you could always place their guns on their backpack or their chainswords on their hips / backs :)
Since nobody seemed to care to do it for the Space Wolves, I'll take it on:
- Duncan's Thunderwolf Cavalry have the Keyword, so Lewis' portal of Exile cannot activate on them
- I know they find out towards the end but Duncan's Dreadnought is only firing one twin-autocannon, instead of 2
- This is about Lewis, he pulled 2 command points from out of his ass, he had 0CP left and could not even spend the 1CP on the re-roll to even re-roll the dice to suck the Thunderwolf Cavalry into the portal
This isn't about the game, but these are some things wrong with Duncan's paintjobs:
- His Grey Hunters ("Normal marines") right shoulder should be black and red, not white and black. Red and Black designates a pack as Battline, where Black and white means ranged support (Long Fangs)
- Duncan's Wolf Priest on bike should have black armor, as Wolf Priests wear black armor just like Chaplains
they should ge pyrion and tom to shout-cast these
Loving this series! Could we have some more of both the gameplay and modelling videos. I love those especially cos I do my own modelling at the same time and it feels like I'm with you guys which is awesome

Ben really needs to make more content of his own he defintly has what it takes and has become a key member of the yogscast family with all his apparences in other yogscast related videos
lol the eternity gate doesn't teleport you to a desert it teleports you out of reality
If you pile in to a enemy they do get a free attack against you.
Just saying guys, when ben throws 5 Krak Grenades at the monolith, In a shooting phase only one grenade can be thrown across your entire army
Love the gradual change of attitude towards the games outcome, on Luis's part. x)
Salty about that character group move from #1 at 11:40. x)
After this game, and a bit more painting, make lewis have a lot more points, and the others have to survive a certain amount of turns in order to win.
Or alternatively just learn to use his units' abilities so that the Necrons don't look so shit. They're standardly weak literally because they have abilities to balance it out, it's basically just disadvantaging himself without using them.
I can't believe how much better Duncan is looking, what a Champ
I do hope that - if these become more common (You play more of them) - they turn into 1-hour episodes :P
love this series keep it up big boics
Lewis is just not having ANY luck
I just realised how much i like Bens voice, or is that just the beer?
I do belive Ben should declair and roll separatly for each leader and not as a squad. Since they are independant units, as he is not and rolling as a squad this realy powers his abilitys to reroll.
Since the rerolls should be specific to that character not the entiresquad.

But if its an aura of 6 inches its kinda a broken cheat ish setup hes got.
I might be wrong but I think he declared it in the first video
Jamie Millman i must have missed that then xD
I'm not sure what difference it makes when he rolls all at once vs one at a time? It doesn't change the outcome of the dice?
It could change the outcome of the dice. Any random movement of the roll could change based on how the dice interact with each other. But this isn't exactly a competitive game, so it doesn't really matter. But if you were to play a game in a more serious way you should do each unit individually, and all of Ben's captains would also each have their own movement.
Ben was stomping because he just focused down targets, Lewis was just plinking off shots without finishing anyone off
Both Wolves and Dark Angels are getting new codexes soon too, exciting times ^^
MikeymajQ wolves haven't been announced yet
Lewis is having Wil Wheaton levels of bad luck with the dice rolls.
ive not played in several editions but jesus this is getting my 40k itch going
This edition is great and i recommend getting back into it
The Necrons have been joint training with stormtroopers.
If the monolith hovers in the air, why does it block the line of sight of ground units?
Please do more Poker it was so well put together last time, I think it could be a really good series.
I'm subscribing just for these videos, please make them long term.
Just gotta say, Duncan wouldn't not have been able to retreat since he was surrounded
if the thing is hovering how can they hide behind it?
loveing this so much!
I wish this was animated
it'd be hilarious
I love Warhammer and I'm getting into 40k now
have the rules changed for 40k where you can back out of melee when surrounded? cuz last time i played if you were surrounded on all sides in melee you were trapped. and if im right duncans biker shouldnt of got out of combat with the necron warriors and scarabs
Dreth Duncan should have been trapped, you still can’t fall back through units unless you have the fly rule.
All I can think about is how this much be easier this would be as a computer game instead, you wouldn't need to memorise the rules or measure everything.
I don't understand this game at all but it's still fun to watch!
I have absoloutely no idea what's happening, but I'm enjoying the shit outta watching it
The editor really earned their money with this one. Cutting in the hand held videos would have been a massive ball ache.
When I have the odd game I get fatigued quite fast, think you might need an extra dude with the camera and some refreshments lol, what might work well is a dice app you can overlay. Look forward to seeing more
I don't know what any of what they're saying means, but it's very exciting.
gotta get that orb lewis... and remember abilities!
Dude Duncan’s diet is going great
3 days without this is too long!!!!!
Not familiar with the new rules as I'm a bit old school but it looks likesome shenanigans are going off, shooting different units with a monolith seperate guns and using guns that dont have LOS on units?
in 8th its seen as a constantly moving unit, all vison arcs are gone!
means that also a unit can fire as long as it can draw LOS, means a crusader landraider can fire EVERYTHING from its track
in 8th ed you can fire your guns at different targets and Vision arcs for guns are gone.
Yeah it's actually correct. Vehicles have 360% firing arks on everything (distance is measured from hull now too, IIRC), plus everything can splitfire no matter what now.
Thunder hammers are s x2 ap -3 3 damage
I need more of this
lol took 50 minutes to do two turns of this game! love it
MOAR 40K GAMES PLZ!
hyped for ben v tom
After a long and grueling battle, things are starting to seem in the grudging allies favor. If they can just hold out a little longer, they ca-[Lewis summons 20 Necrons]-...fuck
poor lewis, neverlucky
So hypeddd
Ben is far, far, far better at tabletop than he is at Total War.
can someone who understands this stuff explain to me what they were on about with the scarabs? because they said something about always wound but then seemed to do a hit, wound and armour save like for every other attack so what did they mean?
its been 4 years and i have now played a fair bit of warhammer and i still have no clue what was going on here
Omg it's so good to see Ben doing well and fucking over Lewis
*IRON WOLF HAS NO FEAR!!!*
I thought the Chapters punished any space marine who engaged reverse on their gear stick. 3 point turns are for the weak, after all.
Are you guys sure Ben's dice aren't somehow magic? Because the work great for him, but shit for Lewis.
THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!
I went full nerd like this I played Mageknight a few times I liked it but never spent any money on it LOL
Duncan should of taken a wolf guard battle leader they let you re-roll to wound rolls of 1
