I'd love to hear what we got wrong, we really want to learn fast and put out some good games! I know I got the number of shots for my dreadnought and my razorback wrong but if there's anything else please say!
First off I wanna say your looking really good Duncan. But on the game you guys didn't do too bad if it's one of your first 8th edition games. My advice is too keep your codexes on you they are good reference and are better then the data sheets your using. Other then that just study up more. BTW the paint jobs are pretty good better them any of my armies. Good job I hope you guys do more of this stuff
Honestly, I haven't played since 5th edition so I really don't care if you guys flub up as long as you keep it fast and fun. I look forward to more! Also, get someone in the office to play one of the eldar factions. :)
I'm not up to date on the rules but back when I played I don't recall someone been able to shoot as much as your lord and then charge into assault. So double check the rules there
Wait, this is actually a game!? I was content getting a series of you guys just chilling and painting little space fuckers for an hour an episode while shooting shit about your childhood and Warhammer lore.
I could not be more pleased. Thank you all so much for working so hard to give us all this 40k content. Nothing beats painting up my Ad-mech force while watching you all paint and play games. I hope this series lasts and that others may find it as enjoyable as i do.
Great start guys loving the painted armies and the table. Lewis don't forget about the Overlord's My Will be Done special rule to hand out a +1 to hit to a unit. Also Necrons should always be using the Command Point stratagem to auto pass morale to get those squads to roll their reanimations. Overall though very entertaining :D
Just as a piece of advice, you guys should build line of sight blocking terrain! It could be a video, and it will make games Waaaaaay more interesting. Totally understand this is the first game for you guys and probably recorded a while back, but trust me gonna be sweet.
I'm pretty sure Ben's captain, lieutenant and ancient were too far away from most of his infantry to let him get those re-rolls and the attacks as they die. EDIT: Lewis, heavy weapons get -1 to hit if the unit moved, which it did. Those 3 hits should have only been 2 hits. Fun game though!
Great work guys! Love the thematic nature of the story missions you're going for definitely keen to see more content like this You've asked for tips, I noticed the following during the game so far: Lewis should have triggered quantum shielding vs the Plasma at the end (perhaps he does in the next episode) which could negate wounds from the plasma When given the option to reroll his morale check, he could have also spent 2 CP to auto pass morale on that unit of 2 Necron warriors. Lewis forgets to trigger "My Will be done" on his Necron lord to buff his units When Duncan questions the scarabs movement through the building, that's actually a legal move in 8th ed, as most models can pass straight through terrain as if it wasn't there Even though Scarabs do not have the Fly keyword As Duncan mentioned in a comment himself, his number of shots is slightly off on his units and they did notice that his leader has toughness 5 not 4
I seriously never expected the Yogscast to make BatReps ever, but holy crap I'm so excited! It's like two of my favorite things combined, Yogscast and Warhammer 40k!
Glad to see they finally went through with their plan to film a match! I've been needing something to get me back into painting my army again. I really like the setup! It'll be fun to see who the true powergamer is, out of this bunch though.
Wow. I didn't know how I felt about this, since all I've ever heard about Warhammer tabletop made it seem really complicated. This is actually great, though. Looking forward to more.
I have never seen Warhammer played before, unless you want to count Tom and Ben playing Total War Warhammer. The game actually looks super interesting. Thanks for putting this vid out.
Awe man the reference to the Stormlight series was amazing, just finished the third book a few days ago and I love that series to death. Its a must read
Absolutely this - or better yet the same camera mounted above the board and pointed straight down. Also if the table could be a bit more lit (maybe some softboxes above the board) that would be ideal
Please keep doing these this was fun, so you know Twin assault cannons have 12 shots When you move with a heavy weapon it give you -1 to hit (Duncan's razorback turn one) The character on the bike has toughness 5 but really lovely it :D
For a first game they arent making as many rule errors as i thought, they are getting the majority of all the to hit and to wound and charge stuff right. the Amount of shots is something you can easily misremember if your new, and the -1 to hit for moving is easy to forget (especialy on a vehicle)
You can but put magnets on the guns but you would need a very small drill and very small magnets. ive messed up putting them in guns multiple times so i just put them in the whole turret
Even warhammer, lewis openly says "12 inch range, I'm sure things are in range" - clearly sees back wolves ARENT in range, then "I'm gonna attack your wolves" .....
it's so crazy, i remember one stream he said something like, "i'm getting too fat" and then in no time i saw the warhammer total war 2 video where he was suddenly slim haha
The Games Night channel is on fire with all these recent videos! But I am sad knowing they probably wont keep it up after they are done fighting each other in warhammer :(
I wanna say i have seen more rules mistakes in Warhammer only devoted channels here's a couple things i saw that where not played wrong but could use some clarification? I guess? also more comments = better algorithm to right so.. Rules The "counter charge" is called a pile in and it is 3 inches you can do this with any unit that you are about to melee attack with. Command points: you can use one command point per phase so once per shooting or once per battle shock (moral phase) but as Duncan said you cant re-roll any dice more than once.
You guys will get better over time, but heres some tips: Show us all the dice rolls; Please tell us the full lists with what they've got; REMEMBER STRATAGEMS(like seriously, ive lost many a games were I haven't used any of my 6 command points with my Deathguard because I forgot them); Warlord traits; Magnetise your models so you can switch out weapons; use battle scribe (its pretty handy and better then just printing off the pages); and lastly have someone else play another heretic army along side Dark angles. also maybe consider doing a video going over the core rules basically for the newbies to 40k. mainly so they can follow along easier.
Lewis is playing Necrons which when I last checked in on 40K were just about one of the most OP races available and he does strike me as the sort that would netdeck an army list.
ah fair enough I am a bit behind on my 40K meta I just remember them being almost unkillable and when you did kill them they just got back up ready for round 2 and 3 and 4 and you just cry.
I just got into Warhammer 40k recently and have been building a space marine/Imperial guard army (mostly guard frankly, I got some space Marines for free from a shop that recently stopped selling them so given how expensive Warhammer stuff is I decided to use them in my army until I can afford to only have guard). So basically what I'm saying is perfect timing guys! Also I really am rooting for Duncan here. Normally I don't but hey space Wolves are way cooler than edgy Marines and Undead robot... Things with no souls (unless you bring along that Necron pokemon trainer type dude... He's so great as a character on his own to make Necrons more interesting) P.S. some people correcting you in the comments section are using older edition rules as opposed to 8th so be careful of wrong information.
A correction at 29:18 the Triarch Stalker is only ever equipped with a single Twin Heavy Guass Cannon when you take that option. In the video, you said the stalker was equipped with two of them and you rolled four times.
Funny thing is, there aren't any wolves on Fenris, the world of the Space Wolves (Which is a BAD imperial translation from the Great Crusade era). In fact, they are all decedents of the original colonists, some of whom devolved into wolf-like forms when the genetic implants and modifications designed to help them survive Fenris' Death Worldliness worked too well. So you see all those fur capes and stuff? That's HUMAN SKIN. I love my space Vikings.
I'd love to hear what we got wrong, we really want to learn fast and put out some good games! I know I got the number of shots for my dreadnought and my razorback wrong but if there's anything else please say!

BTW the paint jobs are pretty good better them any of my armies. Good job I hope you guys do more of this stuff
maybe a gimble for the camera would be better but im guessing this is pre recorded
Honestly, I haven't played since 5th edition so I really don't care if you guys flub up as long as you keep it fast and fun. I look forward to more! Also, get someone in the office to play one of the eldar factions. :)
Tristan Sweatt they even said why they used the data sheets instead of the codex's that they have.
I'm not up to date on the rules but back when I played I don't recall someone been able to shoot as much as your lord and then charge into assault. So double check the rules there
Don't mind me, I'm just watching this in full for the third time to pass the time until the next episode
12:18 Lewis: "I don't know if you can even see this..." *points with his finger - while holding the camera for close-ups; pointing away*
Wait, this is actually a game!?
I was content getting a series of you guys just chilling and painting little space fuckers for an hour an episode while shooting shit about your childhood and Warhammer lore.
yep , 40k has been about one way or another since 1987 , and I've been playing for about 24-25 years ..... damn I feel old xD.
Beliver just think of it as 25 years of learning and enjoying the best fictional universe ever made ^.^
beliver1980
I'm married have a house and two kids
and you've been playing this game since I was born
yep the benefits of being born in 1980 I guess :)
The funny thing is, I really like this video, but I enjoyed the chill painting more :)
This is going to be awesome! Let's go Ben!
yogscast X paradox
Da9L is that truly you! :D
Where is the salt?
theDa9L omg its daniel
Da9L watches Yogs!
I could not be more pleased. Thank you all so much for working so hard to give us all this 40k content. Nothing beats painting up my Ad-mech force while watching you all paint and play games. I hope this series lasts and that others may find it as enjoyable as i do.

Also Necrons should always be using the Command Point stratagem to auto pass morale to get those squads to roll their reanimations. Overall though very entertaining :D
Duncan has underestimated his dakka. Twin assault cannon is 12 shots and 2x Twin autocannons would be 8 shots.
Just as a piece of advice, you guys should build line of sight blocking terrain! It could be a video, and it will make games Waaaaaay more interesting. Totally understand this is the first game for you guys and probably recorded a while back, but trust me gonna be sweet.
GOOD TO SEE THAT BEN IS USING THE MOST LOYAL CHAPTER WHO HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING TO QUESTION THEIR LOYALTY EVER. PRAISE THE LION AND THE EMPEROR.
This is such a lovely series already! The passion you all have for the game is clear.

By the God Emperor! Those Dark Angel space marines are really well done! I cant wait to see more... And welcome to the fold new people!!!
The camera angle at 6:25 is great. It shows a good overview of the battlefield. Good job to whoever set it up and good job to the editor(s) too.
I loved this, been looking for warhammer 40k games and love that some of my favorite people are playing
The drednought has more shots than that with the 2 twin autocannons and so does the razorbacks assault cannons Duncan.
Twin autocannons get 12 shots
yeah I got those wrong! forgot the dreadnought has 2 twin autocannons and got the number of assualt cannon shots wrong
Isnt 4 Autocannons 8 shots?
The entire video Lewis is like "oops I didn't get that on camera" "oops I'm doing a terrible job of capturing this" XD
I seriously never expected the Yogscast to make BatReps ever, but holy crap I'm so excited!
It's like two of my favorite things combined, Yogscast and Warhammer 40k!
14:30 Ben is hiding behind cover so Duncan wont shoot him
I was just about to mention how he rests his chin on the table lmao.
Dam compered to their early days it's awesome how great Duncan looks now! He's really hit his stride.
Glad to see they finally went through with their plan to film a match! I've been needing something to get me back into painting my army again. I really like the setup! It'll be fun to see who the true powergamer is, out of this bunch though.
I hope this becomes a very frequent series
Don't we all?
I'm so glad you're finally playing Warhammer. cant wait to see the tryanids play
Wow. I didn't know how I felt about this, since all I've ever heard about Warhammer tabletop made it seem really complicated. This is actually great, though. Looking forward to more.
More of this please. Well just the whole Games Night thing. Loving it all.
Loving all the Stormlight Archives references Ben's been putting out lately. Just finished rereading Way of Kings to catch back up for Oathbringer.
This is a match made in heaven. Loving this series!
I have never seen Warhammer played before, unless you want to count Tom and Ben playing Total War Warhammer. The game actually looks super interesting. Thanks for putting this vid out.
Lewis needs to ditch that monolith and get some damn ghost arks for maximum necron cheese
They're playing waaaaaaay too small of games to be bringing a Monolith.
He needs Ghost Arks and Crypteks.
Hell yeah! The more the better as far as I'm concerned. I'm pleased something has come out 3 days in a row *thumbs up*
Epic, glad to see some of the armies in action at last. Now just to start inviting viewers to visit & play!
Zero dislikes, I love this community
Wow, I did not think i would be this excited about a game with figurines and dice! Yet, here we are.
It's nuts to see how far you guys have come with this stuff.Had to check my playback speed wasn't on fast!
So lets inspect the thumbnail, we have friendly old Grandad Ben, lovely Grandma Duncan and weird cousin Lewis
Yesssssssssssssssssss! you had hinted at doing this a while ago during the office tours when people were showing off fantasy/sigmar armies.
MOAR! For reals mini wargaming is my favorite type of gaming. After warhammer yall need a bloodbowl season or two in.
I am loving the 40k guys! I just can't wait to watch Tom do one.
I've played so much Dawn of War, it's great to see how the actual tabletop plays, and even better it's the Yogscast playing it!
Awe man the reference to the Stormlight series was amazing, just finished the third book a few days ago and I love that series to death. Its a must read
Love this! Inspired me to start painting again!
The 6:20 cam should stay as the main cam for the thing and maybe do a separate pre-recorded part that shows everyone’s squad so it’s better quality
Absolutely this - or better yet the same camera mounted above the board and pointed straight down. Also if the table could be a bit more lit (maybe some softboxes above the board) that would be ideal
Please keep doing these this was fun, so you know
Twin assault cannons have 12 shots
When you move with a heavy weapon it give you -1 to hit (Duncan's razorback turn one)
The character on the bike has toughness 5
but really lovely it :D

the Amount of shots is something you can easily misremember if your new, and the -1 to hit for moving is easy to forget (especialy on a vehicle)
Loving this! Going have to blow off the dust of mine and get into this
I LOVE THIS!!!!! And it’s on the anniversary of my dad passing and he was a huge warhammer fan, it’s fate!
Can i just say the thumbnail is the most early 2000's nerds in a basement thing ive seen in forever snd i am here for it.
Awesome stuff. I'd love to know what Ben used to build his Company Champion, it looks great!
Tell Duncan to use magnets for his tank guns, so then hey won't come out during battle.
Brandon Harrison you don’t magnetise turret weapons, when you can swap the whole turret.
You can but put magnets on the guns but you would need a very small drill and very small magnets. ive messed up putting them in guns multiple times so i just put them in the whole turret
When the yogscast sex tape comes out, I hope it's not Lewis filming, won't be able to tell what's going on
You are a very naughty Hobbit Jerkins.
Of course he won't be filming. How can he star in it and also be the camera man?
POV
I have been a Dark Angel player/collector for the past 10 years. Seeing Ben's amazingly painted primaris marines mage me giggle with glee
It'd be a cool idea for someone to animate the battle as like a real time war
so glad you're doing this! hope to see more =D
Even warhammer, lewis openly says "12 inch range, I'm sure things are in range" - clearly sees back wolves ARENT in range, then "I'm gonna attack your wolves" .....
Holy shit Duncan lost a ton of weight, good job. Damn.
I had a bad day today but u guys made my day.
This I going to be sick can't wait for another game where everyone has massive armies
thank you -we all wanted this so badly.
I like how Lewis just uses there dice when ever he has to roll
Jesus, Duncan has lost so much weight he looks amazing. Love you Duncan xx
it's so crazy, i remember one stream he said something like, "i'm getting too fat" and then in no time i saw the warhammer total war 2 video where he was suddenly slim haha
Loving this series good stuff
Ben is such a nerd for this and its fantastic.
You know this is a good video when they start off talking about the stormlight archive
Duncan = Young Reinhardt
U should make these big episodes like an entire session in one episode in my opinion but love the vids keep it up
The Games Night channel is on fire with all these recent videos! But I am sad knowing they probably wont keep it up after they are done fighting each other in warhammer :(
The cam resting on the table provided a pretty good angle
I had no idea yogscast read Brandon Sanderson! Makes me love them even more
Fuck yeeeeeeah!
Holy shit, I didn't realize Ben was beardless in the painting vid! That hilarious.
I'd love to see more of this
Is it just me, or has Duncan lost A LOT of weight??
Yeah, dude looks great, congrats man Dunc!
Dunno about your weight, but Duncan has certainly lost some.
i was thinking that. a bit late but congrads ducan. looking good
God Damn, Ben's painting is incredible!
YES KEEP THE 40K TRAIN ROLLING PLEASE
I wanna say i have seen more rules mistakes in Warhammer only devoted channels here's a couple things i saw that where not played wrong but could use some clarification? I guess? also more comments = better algorithm to right so..
Rules
The "counter charge" is called a pile in and it is 3 inches you can do this with any unit that you are about to melee attack with.

also maybe consider doing a video going over the core rules basically for the newbies to 40k. mainly so they can follow along easier.
Fun fact guys, there were no wolves on that table. Because there are no wolves on Fenris
Great to see duncan is in shape alot more then i remember him
This made me start again warhammer, fucking love this
I couldn't wait to watch this and see lewis try and metagame this as always
Lewis is playing Necrons which when I last checked in on 40K were just about one of the most OP races available and he does strike me as the sort that would netdeck an army list.
ah fair enough I am a bit behind on my 40K meta I just remember them being almost unkillable and when you did kill them they just got back up ready for round 2 and 3 and 4 and you just cry.
metagame...And MOVING WITHOUTMEASURING....
loved to hear those Stormlight Archive references
I just got into Warhammer 40k recently and have been building a space marine/Imperial guard army (mostly guard frankly, I got some space Marines for free from a shop that recently stopped selling them so given how expensive Warhammer stuff is I decided to use them in my army until I can afford to only have guard).

P.S. some people correcting you in the comments section are using older edition rules as opposed to 8th so be careful of wrong information.
For lots of people the soulless aspect is attractive (me at least)
Thisnis great, keep it up guys!
AND ON TO THE BATTLESSSSSS! Damn this will be amazing
So proud of duncan! He has lost so much weight.
A correction at 29:18 the Triarch Stalker is only ever equipped with a single Twin Heavy Guass Cannon when you take that option. In the video, you said the stalker was equipped with two of them and you rolled four times.
Finally! YOGSCAST playing warhammer!
I heard the words "plasma guns" and thought "This can ONLY end in tears."
YES I WAS WAITING FOR THIS !!!
Love a good Ben, Lewis, Duncan spitroast
To clarify on bens command point question, you can spend one per phase to re-roll one dice
Has Duncan Lost weight? He looks great =)
I think he's gradually turning into the Warhammer model version of himself
Bradley Tome I was thinking that.
Fkn warhammer man the feels watching this!!! So good! The fact that toms not there though, is just heresy
Duncan has lost a lot of weight over the past while, looking really good my man!
stabilize handy cam (hardware or post) and this is gold
SPACE WOLVES! Clearly the superior chapter, good choice Duncan!
Timothy Hagen The death guard are the true marines! Death to the false emperor! Praise grandfather Nurgle!
Although I'm mostly xenos, the mechanicum and smalamanders look pretty coolio
Your just jealous of our cool Nordic names and beautiful flowing locks
Timothy Hagen why would we be jealous of your unbathed, illiterate, wolf fucking asses.
I was not expecting Ben to just whip out his tape measure like that.
This has been pretty cool so far.
Duncan is looking really good!
you have no idea how long ive waited for this
