  • Join us was we head to Glen Helen for a private track day!
    Zay Solis has switched the fork on his Surron Light Bee from a KTM 85 fork to the EXT Ferro.
    We decided to take this fork and put it onto a bike that the geometry fits better! Come for a ride with Zay as he rides the Surron Ultra Bee for the first time!
    Thank you to Glen Helen Race way and AME Minicross for the private track day!

    Very nice rig. As others have said, it would be nice to have a complete breakdown of the build and challenges hopefully that is coming...looks to have an aftermarket seat, bars, plastics etc..

      Nope factory seat, plastics minus number plate and front fender which came with the fork. EBMX x9000 controller, and EbMX motor, ODI bars, EXT Rea rear shock, billet sprocket, pegs, KTM 85 forks specially coated, SXS skid plate

      @@surronsd Thanks for the breakdown. It would make sense that the fork, triple, number plate and fender would be off the 85. Makes it look more like an ICE 125.

      Our next video we dive into the pros/cons of installing a KTM fork on an Ultra Bee as well as paying for suspension tuning, hopefully this answers a lot of your questions. Thanks!

      @@OffthevoltzThe stock bike is $6500 though and a great trail bike stock. Only mod I’d say is a must is a 21” front wheel which is $300. A maintenance free trail ripper for 7k is good.
      For the money and MX use, the Stark Varg is a better bike than this modded Ultra Bee. Only reason to do all these mods is if you want a small bike or you just like doing mods.

      This exact bike is expensive, as it's modded all the way with $3000 Fork/wheel/brakes, $1400 shock, $1200 controller, $3700 battery and lots of other smaller upgrades. It's not for the faint of heart to build a bike like this. However if you're looking for a bike with incredible speed, suspension, range, and about 50 pounds lighter (and smaller) than a Stark Varg this is one way to do it. With that said, if your sole purpose is racing MX on an electric, the Varg is the way to go as it was purpose built for this without modifications and built to take the abuse of MX. BUT, if you are the off-road crowd we prefer Ultra Bee over the Varg for a lot of reasons and you don't have to spend as much as this bike to make the Ultra an incredible off-road bike. Most put 18/21 wheels on it and love it with no other mods. More videos coming soon about this, be sure to subscribe. :)

    • @Offthevoltz

      I have an ultra and started modding it, it honestly started innocently. First EBMX 9k, then thought why not a motor and I got sotion fw01 pro. Now I’m not using that motor to its potential so I want a battery. Voila now I’m in varg territory. But I tell you this I cannot ride the Varg the places I ride the ultra. The ultra is already a stretch. I will not disrespect vargs enginuity by riding a varg on city streets and occasional side walk not to ride at 45+mph to conserve battery. Although a varg is tenfold better that’s how you end up there. The biggest problem is price of the batteries, they are killing us. How is it you replace the battery of certain cars like hybrids that have much more kWh for similar prices.

      @@Offthevoltz Did you see any benefits in power (low, mid high) torque/acceleration with just adding a new speed controller on stock motor setup? I have a surron X black and just broke a engine mount on the stock motor. I don't need all the upgrades to go 65+-70 mph (72 volt batt, speed controller) but if I'm going to have to buy a new motor at $700-$800 to have it repaired right then I would like to gain some more zip for that money. Not looking to spend the additional $1,600-2,000 on a more powerful battery. Am considering a upgrade speed controller and motor combo. Maybe like the KO Moto RS basic motor and controller. Now I'm seeing some negative reports on KO electronics?!?

      @Offthevoltz 6 місяців тому +1

      @@GettingthruLife I can only speak for the ultra bee. I definitely feel the controller is extracting a bit more power from the battery. I can pop a wheelie at 20mph with stock it was 18mph, top speed is 59mph vs stock controller 56mph. I have not upgraded the battery and not sure if I will.

      @@surronsd I was forced into buying a new motor, days ago, I don't know all there is to know about e-bike electric motors and controllers, so I bought the K.O. RS motor and Nano controller which seems fairly good. Sticking with stock battery due to all the add cost. I'm expecting at least more power with this setup but i'm not going crazy with speed. From what I've read the KO motors can push higher power for longer 10kw-12kw-15kw and higher rpm without wearing out as quickly. I broke a motor mount on my motor making one hard landing.
