"Velimirovic only has to bring this rook into the game, hide the king, develop this bishop, and get the other rook into the game. And then he can really enjoy his extra piece." LOL
I also like how 2 moves after that Antonio matter of factly says, "Velimirovic ONLY has to bring his rook out, tuck his king away, and bring his bishop into the game …" … with his King on D6 against the greatest attacking grand master of all time. He ONLY needs a miracle. Those happen all the time.
"G5 is a nice square for the knight but what do you do when it gets attacked? Well you could remaneuver it to h3..." Be honest, you didn't believe even for a single second Tal would back up there. You knew the sac was coming, even i knew the sac was coming!
It is sad to see pics of later Tal in which he looks like a crazy 70-year-old man, then you remember he was like 49 or something and just seriously unhealthy.
been playing chess all my life but literally had no idea how to really play until discovered Tal on your channel, what a player, your great analysis helped too though
I have seen so many of Tal's games here yet I never ceased to be amazed how he destroy his opponents via combination moves that I can never ever think of. He is the ultimate Chess Master of all time......
I want to thank u for the way u organized the playlists, by opening , by tournament, by player... And for the quality of your videos, I really love this channel ❤
This is one of my favorite Tal games. Thanks for helping me develop a passion of mine with these awesome games and your insightful and entertaining commentary!
What does one say about Tal? I honestly believe if anyone says they understand a Tal sacrificial game they are either delusional or lying. Tal played because he saw the patterns without thought, to try to understand that would be able to play exactly like him which will never happen. That is his magic, his ability to see while others calculate.
Another beautiful game accentuated with some amazing commentary. The lines noted by Bo7 and Nicolo being particularly hilarious yet insightful at the same time.
Must admit it... Its was jus awesome game from Mikhail Tal... We can say its a masterpiece... Thank you @agadmator for showing this art.... Love from India...😀❤
While watching I try to test my "strategy" (long-term plans) and positional intuition. After Tal did Rac1 (7:27), I immediately looked at Rc8 as a counter and then decided it would not end well since White's Rook and Queen would both be eyeing it if the C file ever did clear up. My preferred move there was Rd8, or possibly Re8, and in the end it turned out those would have been much better moves. One of many reasons I enjoy the channel is because I can challenge myself with many positions, as they appear, to see if I can guess the best moves, and it is more fun since I am able to see a lot of progress.
The best Tal game I seen to date !!! I am fairly new to watching matches, but this game really shows the type of player Tal was I think,,,, deadly ! Lol,, TY 😁✌
Haven't yet watched the video but my money is on Tal, the magician from Riga not the other one :D Edit: now that I watched it, as usual, Tal wins by creating magic on the board. Man i wish Tal was alive in this era, maybe alpha zero will get it's circuits fried 😎
Dr. MG M alphazero played like tal, making sacrifices to gain attacking advantages. It would be one hell of a game to watch between tal and our computer overlords, I must say.
The entire hype around Alpha Zero is a bit much. Yes it plays wonderful Chess. But it was playing against a severely restricted Stockfish, ruinning on 1 GB RAM. Most smartphones have more than that. Meanwhile Alpha Zero was running on Google's most powerful hardware.
@@arsenalfanrichi stockfish is a software not hardware, no matter how much ram stockfish only calculates 800,000 positions per second so changing ram doesnt really matter.
HI agadmator, I subscribed today, I should have done it a lot earlier, I love your videos! Tal is my favourite and I'm really looking forward to the 1960 championship match with Botvirnnik videos. Good luck with your games this weekend!
Another brilliant game by Tal. I am so weak in the late to end game it is embarrassing. With Tall it goes from slight worry to crisis mode in one unforeseen move.
Agadmator - AGAD means "as good as dead. It can be used interchangeably with a more common phrase, GG(good game)" MATOR means Regional, Archaic, of a person, Old, Elderly. Although i always thought MATOR has got something to do with checkmating someone or mate (self explanatory). Tried my best to find the meaning of agadmator. Now you guys try to attach the pieces of the puzzle. 😉
@ agadmator's Chess Channel At 11:40 why can't you block the check with the pawn and then either trade Queens or continue the game if the pawn is captured with a rook?
#suggestion David Navara vs Radosław Wojtaszek 2015 preparation almost like cheating. And Wojtaszek vs Carlsen even world champion can blunder a piece.
at 11:32 queen captures on e4, rook to e5 this come with check you can't block check, yes you can block check with the pawn on f6 and we would had had a very different end game, black would be winning I think.
11:39 -- why not move the f6 pawn forward? It blocks check, and Tal can't take it with his queen. Take it with rook and then Drago can move his queen/king to protect?
Then Bishop goes to d4 and a lot of variations are possible. None of them favouring black. And he may eventually lose the Queen if he doesn't play correctly and take the sacrifices
i've recently taken up chess as something that i am interested in. although your videos are a great way to see world class chess, i still fail to recognise the best moves on most occasions. does anybody have any advice as to how a novice can improve their game? thanks :)
"Velimirovic only has to bring this rook into the game, hide the king, develop this bishop, and get the other rook into the game. And then he can really enjoy his extra piece." LOL
I like his sense of humor xD pretty ironic :P
As soon as he said that my immediate thought was, Oh, is that all?
"Velumirovic only has to invade Russia in winter and then can star enjoying some advantage against Tal"
sparkplug1018 well Draga probably thought that too
Only four short/free moves away from glory
"You have a king on e6 against Tal. If you wanna call that an advantage, well, that's your call"

Tal: "Here, have a piece!"
Drago: "Thanks ... ?"
Tal: "Now ... RUN!!!"
One of the greatest moments in the life of a chess player is when he resigns a game against Tal, so the nightmare is finally over.
spot on,perfect,absolutely true.
"He gives you so many options to make a wrong move" Yes! :) That is the best definition of Tal's play I ever heard.

Of course :D
Actually going to h3 is impossible because Qxh3 ;) From the moment the knight goes to g5 it's a sac!
I still have no idea how he manages to pronounce every single name with ease
He is Croat, language is phonetic. Also Serbian and Croatian are similar
Only Eastern European names he pronounces easily
maybe because it is similar to his mother tongue lol
@@aligindahouse7777 Not true, Indians in the comments are always impressed with his pronunciation of Indian names.
Slavic Blood ,same language ☺️

Michael DiSciullo tals mad scientist look is boss as hell. The perfect look for a fuckin lunatic like him
he was a heavy drinker, I think that takes a much bigger toll.
Serious alcoholism and extreme cigarettes did it's best to spoil his health and looks..
He had bad kidneys and had been sickly most of his life. Smoking and drinking certainly didn't help.
@@JS-tm1gq He was fine just looking like the intense young master he was when he won the title.
The mind of Tal is deserving of an in depth psycho-analysis, as it is far advanced beyond our own comprehension
I finally understand why Tal is always down a piece. So that his opponent can simply admit that he lost because Tal is simply a chess beast.
been playing chess all my life but literally had no idea how to really play until discovered Tal on your channel, what a player, your great analysis helped too though
tal : sacrifices a piece
opponent: it was in this position i resigned the game
Tal's game is very rare, unpredictable... I love all his matches!!

"Without even trying to save the drowning hippo"... don't wish to sound patronising, but agadmator, your grasp of English is magnificent!

That's why he is called "the magician from riga"...
As Kasparov once said "we calculate but Tal doesnt. He sees."
Starts like a quiet English Opening and leaves a mess like a romantic King's Gambit.

He never was a piece down, the bishop and the rock wasnt playing at all.
I like this one...
i never saw the rock
When Tal gives you a piece, never take it..
4:14 "so without even trying to save the drowning hippo..." Tal never saves the hippo :(
I really like how tal was able to see "Simple" checkmates and make a amusing path to that. By "simple" I mean, Rook + Queen/Bishop
Beautifull sacrifices, beautifull game and beautifull commentating !
Dragoslav Velimirovic was the main author and instigator of the famous Yugoslav attack in the Sicilian dragon
Yes, it's thematically rather like the ferocious Samisch Attack in the King's Indian. At my level (club level), both are extremely effective.
I see agadmator i click
aslan tehawcho I see you are a simple man

"When this rook moves, all hell will break loose" LOLLLL
Great game! Thanks! Always enjoy Tal's games.
really nice to keep these older games alive. i do enjoy the reviews.
Right before you said it I was thinking "I wonder if thats a drowning hippo knight". That just made my day.
Man, this Tal plays chess beating all conventions, its absolutely a pleasure watching his games.

tal resigned the game
I love binge watching these videos!
Great.
Last 3 games I watched were all draws.
Tal is brilliant.
Well explained.
The velimirovich attack is one of the most fierce attacks ever imagined in history.

no no, I am sure that Tal (as well as any other chess player) wouldn't get the sligtest chance to win against this chess engine, it's too powerful.
Krzysztof Q not saying he would win. He'd get crushed. Regardless, it would definitely be an interesting miniature.

6:14 quote of the day
My God I've never seen a picture of old Tal, it's like hes a completely different person.
Wow. Just wow. When Tal is on, he is magnificent.
So basically the strategy is dont let Tal develop a position in which he can sacrifice any piece.
Nice game, but were's dogo?

Drago was a great player, I've studied his games long ago. Via Sicilians etc. But wow, Tal made him look like an amateur in this game :)
He played almost perfect defense. Far from amateur. It takes Tal only 1 unavoided pinned piece to win.

Sacrifices a piece to keep the bishop and rook from joining the fray. That's a heck of a bargain.

At 11:40 why can't you block the check with the pawn and then either trade Queens or continue the game if the pawn is captured with a rook?
There were at least 3 killer tactics by Tal in this game! Whoa!!
Good lord, every time you say Drago’s name I feel like my brain just froze. Slavic names....damn.
Great commentary!
At 7:57, White plays 23. Rf5, then Black plays ...Qg4 I looked at 23 ...Nd7 for a long time and could not carry on White's attack. Any suggestions??
#suggestion David Navara vs Radosław Wojtaszek 2015 preparation almost like cheating. And Wojtaszek vs Carlsen even world champion can blunder a piece.
at 11:32 queen captures on e4, rook to e5 this come with check you can't block check, yes you can block check with the pawn on f6 and we would had had a very different end game, black would be winning I think.
If pawn blocks then again rook captures queen and pawn can't capture the rook because of the pin.
Pawn on f5 would be pinned by the queen against the king.
11:39 -- why not move the f6 pawn forward? It blocks check, and Tal can't take it with his queen. Take it with rook and then Drago can move his queen/king to protect?
Tal will simply capture black queen since the pawn is pinned to the king
Can u imagine if vaping had been invented in tals day?

Then Bishop goes to d4 and a lot of variations are possible. None of them favouring black. And he may eventually lose the Queen if he doesn't play correctly and take the sacrifices
@5:34/13:53 of the video, Tal moves the queen to h5. Why isn't black knight f6 takes white queen an option?
Just figured it out. Rook at f1 takes king. Clear.
Nice new sweater :D
8:19 the best move for black was pawn c5 to c4 and if white goes for Be5+ then black can play Bd6
