BEFORE YOU COMMENT! *SMALL CORRECTIONS* : I was WRONG about when you are free to do what you want - OPENING SPEAKING TO SARAH: to test when I was free to do what I want I used fast travel as a tester and the game would decline my request as I needed to complete the opening. You cannot leave the lodge after you give constellation the first artefact and you cannot fast travel. Leading me to the conclusion that I needed to continue the main quest line. HOWEVER. If you speak to Sarah and say you wish to process everything, THEN the game opens up to you. Even out side of that, that leaves the opening sitting at over an hour. Thank you to those pointing this out to me
i have the feeling the dude who makes those amazing alternate start mods is already at work in creating it now, but it might take him a while in getting that kind of mod out because the creation engine 2 is not out yet because bethesda are taking their sweet ass time getting dragging their asses to get it out.
@@Zenny-UA-cam no offense mate, but everyone who is playing this game from launch day til the next year are bethesda's beta testers, why would they pay beta testers when they can easily get some moron to purchase their game at full price only to have them report the bugs, it's been like this for the last decade with all the other games released buggy as hell at launch. i don't expect this game to get anywhere near good until at least 3 to 5 years from now. it took cyberpunk almost 4 years to become a good game worth the money.
"Constellation, more like Constipation, because they won't let me do the shit I actually want to do." That was... actually incredibly clever. I love it.
@@Zenny-UA-cam Funny thing is, this joke netted you a sub, and I've been going back and watching old videos since. I love your channel, I love the after credits scenes, and everyone on the internet should sub because holy guacamole your production quality is shockingly high and your channel shockingly underrated.
@@Zenny-UA-camBravo,bravo mate even when I disagree with your points in these videos(which isn't often mind) I simply adore your humour and format style also your voice it's not grating I hope you keep on keeping cheers.
Also both major arcs in Skyrim and Fallout 76 have the ultimate boss fight being a dragon, even if one of them is actually a mutated bat, the animation and attack patterns are the same.
Not just Sarah. All the "companions" are copy-pasted from each other. All the dialog lines are copy-pasted between them with minor edits. Even the hitboxes when they inevitably walk into your line of fire are the same.
My guy, this production level/quality for a channel of 7k subs in absurd, you'll be far beyond this soon. Great vid brother. Additionally I agree with most of your points here, ES6 no longer makes me hopeful, but instead the idea of what we'll get makes me fearful.
@Zenny-UA-cam I'm in act 2 already, act 1 is a masterpiece, and I'm also loving act 2. I'm still waiting for someone to tackle the entirety of the game cuz there are so many secrets and cool out of the box ways to play
Respectfully, I am baffled by this love that Baldur's Gate 3 has been getting. I paid for it back in 2020 nearly as soon as it was put into early access, but held off until the final version was released to do anything past the first couple hours. I beat Baldur's Gate 3 and already uninstalled it. Meanwhile I'm on New Game Plus 4 in Starfield and am still coming across new interesting stuff. This video is the first critical assessment of Starfield I've bothered to pay attention to, so I have no idea if it's in line with the broader reception to the game, but the love for Baldur's Gate 3 has been impossible to miss and I'm still not clear on what everyone else is seeing there that I seem to have missed.
@@briangregory2712really because I uninstalled starfield after 30 hours, havnt beat the game or anything yet, maybe I’ll come back when they release shattered space even then only reason why I’d return is because I got the premium edition, if I didn’t there would be no chance I would’ve came back to the game.
I find it interesting how much you enjoyed neon. It is what showed me that starfield wasn't much of a roleplaying game. As soon as I showed up I wanted to root out the corruption. But every chance you have to investigate it goes nowhere and the few times you see the NPCs that are the cause, they are immortal and you cannot kill them. Very dissapointing
Yup. For funsies, I decided to 'kill' everyone in (whatever the name of that corporation is), and they're all immortal. I even tried killing the pirate leader and not only is he immortal, but he doesn't even react like I just put 50 rounds into his face. He eventually just gets up and continues as if nothing ever happened. it's such a poor game.
Massive props to you for all of this handmade animation, you got insane production value man. Im gonna have to share this video with people, bc you deserve way more views.
It's been wonderful seeing people enjoy the animation! I've actually completed the animation for the next video! Should be out in 2 weeks! Looking forward to seeing you in the comments
Play it u might enjoy it. I struggled with it tbh but some people really enjoyed it. Just because I didn’t like starfield doesn’t mean u won’t. I didn’t like fallout 4 either
I liked the fact that now that I know all the crappy thing about this game, I will go back to play : Skyrim, Fallout 4, Cyberpunk and Lords of the Fallen. Good bye ' Empty Field ' ( aka Starfield ) ... your empty planets are really good for meditation but I also can do that in my room completely alone ... but if I want to play a RPG game, you are not the best choice.
@cmac1600 Cyberpunk is more of a rpg than Starfield ever will be and there are actually differing playstyles in Cyberpunk. Starfield, the only viable option is to shoot things, and the most efficient way of doing that is *SURPRISE* Stealth archer yet again 🤣🤣
They lock you to have the companions because if they don't you will not care to the level of not even knowing them, since the AI is so atrocious and in this game specialy they are very unintresting.
@@Three60Mafia It's the opposite of the leader perk that gets you bonuses for having a companion. Much like the difference between ballistic and laser weaponry in the combat perks pane, it's mostly there to fill space because one option is far superior to the other.
No, they lock you into having companions because they didn't figure out a way to organically give you some elements of the story. The reason Sarah is stuck with you in the first mission is because she's buddies with the Vanguard recruiter and can lore dump a bit to get you into the Vanguard questline. The reason Sam is stuck with you in Aquila is because they needed him around to lore dump about Aquila and for the game to give you his backstory with him around.
Was there any way to improve Starfield's main campaign? Yes. 1. Instead of being given the keys off of Vectera by Barrett at the beginning of the game, you're instead escorting the artifact you just found in the mine after you touched it, causing you to wake up on the ship's infirmary to create your character. You get some dialog about how a group called "Constellation" are interested in your artifact, and they're sending a man to meet you at your destination. As this happens, you are attacked by an unkown ship. You get weird dialog and hints at this being the Hunter, who you don't know yet, but you are handed the artifact and ordered to get to the escape pod. However, upon finding the pods damaged, you instead have to find a small mining ship thats currently docked to the freighter, and escape from the Hunter by using a grav jump. Before you leave however, you can hear the ship behind you explode with debris flying in front of you. From here, you have a few options. Your ship is damaged, and you can try to land on a nearby planet to get it fixed. You could try to find Barrett at the meeting point as the last survivor, or you can be completely independant from here and carry the artifact with you untill you decide to pick up the base campaign. 2. The Unity has chosen you. You don't discover the Unity is a multiversal force of being untill later in the game, however, its heavily implied that it is attatched to you in some way. This allows you to be the only one who has access to Starborn abilities. This is the universe, the ONLY universe, that has decided you will become the next Starborn. This revelation is made clear by the end of the game. 3. Make the Hunter and the Emissary relevant to the story. I don't know why Aquilas turned out to be the hunter. A decision that might have solved this would have been if one of your constellation members was essential to the plot while being able to have optional companions. Let's say it's Barrett because he's also experienced a glimpse at the artifact. If Barrett was your story companion, as you two have both seen visions, a real connection could have been possible where you become really good friends. But for some reason, Barrett doesn't get any powers. You and Barrett might be forced into a difficult decision like the one in the normal campaign that either way leaves a tear in your relationship, or manages to get Barrett killed. From this point, it is revelaed to you that the Hunter is an alternate version of Barrett who was the chosen one in his universe, and unfortunately had to betray you when that Barrett started becoming unstable, dangerous and power hungry. That way, the final battle is all the more emotionally weighted. The Emissary probably would have worked better as an elected representative of a small Starborn faction who have been trying to form peace in the universe (but conclude it must be through retaining the power amongst their own as a kind of elitism, and interfere with who can become Starborn and placing themselves above the Unity.) This could also be a known character, but probably someone who is built up in our universe as someone who fits that character and not just whoever dies. 4. New game plus. What I like about new game plus is that it feels like its giving you the world to jump into and explore right off of the bat. However, New game plus should have the intention of giving you a goal outside of all of your playthroughs. You need the artifacts, and this could be as simple as finding them in their locations again and choosing how you wantnto do things. Maybe small changes are made to who has the artifacts and where, giving you some shock factor and maybe a bonus additional quests throughout each iteration. But most primarily, you are here to stop the Starborn faction, or better yet, you have been chosen to make a decision. You can choose to allow people to become Starborn, as is anyone's right and deal with the consequences of fighting the Starborn faction as a rebellious leader. Or you can choose to destroy the Unity forever and either live out your existence on the universe you are currently in or try to return to OG universe number 1 to wrap up your whole playthrough back full circle. 5. Where are your Starborn companions? Doesn't it feel like a cop out that all of your companions have been reset and forces you to build relations with them all over again with no hope of finding your originals? Yeah, me too. Even if this is DLC, it would be nice to have a questline where you find your starborn counterparts, to see who they've become and ultimately recruit them in your game. This definitely should have already been in the base game, since many have already done everything there is to do now in each universe, without an original companion with them to make commentary about it. It would have made the idea that they're still out there somewhere, i stead of it just being told to us that thats what happened.
I felt like the guy who founded Constelletion should have been the Hunter, after all, they foreshadow him going off into the Great unknown or whatnot. And if we're re-writing it, you can add a lot of lore to him, and actually make the faction competent, attributing those things to that guy.
This game was creepily pro-Corpo. An entire questline about running up a chain of the Ryujin Corpo, being unable to take any action WHATSOEVER against the Paradiso Corp when confronted with the issue of the colony ship, and Neon presents this corrupt, nasty corporate fuckery under Bayu, and gives you NOTHING to do about it. You're just forced to abide by everything the nasty Corpos want and do, really bizarre.
@@Zenny-UA-cam yeah I especially wanted to rp my first character as extremely anti-corpo. And given the very real world animosity towards corporations, it’s very jarring to be offered literally no options against the game’s very intrusive corps.
12:08 dude your content is literally some of the best and most unique stuff on this platform, specifically *because* of how charming the animation is and how well it works in tandem with your commentary. I’m sure you already know that, but even if you never get the recognition and views you definitely deserve, you’re still a massive inspiration. Seriously.
Once again, I love seeing you praise the small bits of games that are done well even when they fumble on the rest! Love the overarching animated story across your videos too, really creative!
"Constelation? More like constipation, BECAUSE THEY WON'T LET ME DO THE SH*T THAT I WANNA DO!" I LOST EVERYTHING IN THIS PART!😂😂 dude, the animation and writing is the best I have seen in a LONG time on all of youtube Zenny you deserve A LOT more than you already have
This literally sums up one of the most glaring problems with the game... you don't have a choice in almost every interaction. Even when they blatantly tell you and show you that you do have many choices, they all end up being rejected except the one they allow.
I feel like he has zero appreciation for us 3d artists. why should we bother making detailed games if it does not matter?? I feel this guy would be happer with some shity indie game with no art whatsoever.
@@TheCephalusI am rather confused, as Starfield has the bare minimum artwork - most of what is here is AI generated. Yeah I know they never explicity said this and would probably deny it. But any artist worth their salt can easily spot the myriad of oddities that mark Starfield out as an AI creation. Also Indie games I have played, are basically better in all other areas except swanky bullshit marketing. Yes including art. You sound like a a wee bit of a video-games Phillistine to be honest with you. How many Indie games with no art whatsoever even _exist at all?_ I could not name you a game with no art lol what are we talking 1980s text RPGs or something? Even the most basic pixelart based board games have art which is 9/10 fantastic to experience and see. Starfield on the other hand just mimics previous sci-fi gems and does them poorly. Starfield is a collage of plagiarised stuff done by others - with a Chinese cloned paint job to hide this fact. But really, every single person with any experience cannot miss this. I think you are a shill, or even a fake account this Bethesda AI is using to balance the shitty review scores and collect data for your next AI revision of the game. Which wouldn't be a problem at all - if you actually were honest about it lol, a fucking mess truth be told. Starfield is WORSE than every single Indie game I have ever bought. The only defences people can come out with for it's pathetic attempt of entertaining us all, are ping-pong style serve returns like "But you just need to brainwash yourselves with another 60 hours before it gets good" and "You are a Bethesda hater" Again something only a baby AI would think it could sneak past us. The entire project for this game, including marketing and the final product is embarrassing and an INSULT to long-time BGS fans and players generally... FarCry3 came out in 2012, and looks better, plays better, and is just generally superior. That is what a good game can be.
@@TheCephalus Because graphics alone aren't what makes games good. If that was the case, battlefield 2042 would've been one of the best battlefield games at launch and a game like Deep Rock Galactic wouldn't be popular due to its low poly art style. The art cant be appreciated when you're constantly fighting boredom, bugs, and crashes.
Starfield actually is the worst RPG i have PERSONALLY ever played, but then again… the rpg’s i played this year were Pathfinder, baldurs gate, disco elysium
Yeah, Bethesda has done next to nothing to evolve or change with time. They got complacent from the praise, and now better studios have left them in the Dust.
My favorite part of Starfield is the negotiation scene where before going in you are told "anything goes" only for said same character who just said that preventing you from doing literally anything other thank accepting the deal. What an amazing roleplaying experience. (This is sarcasm)
I'd argue that the starting premise is absolutely falso for Fallout 4. You are not whatever you want to be, you are a very specific character in very specific circumstances. The narrative is twisted beyond redemption. Other than that, the game is... well, ok. I mean, it was released the same year as the witcher 3. It feels so much older...
The twist being ruined by characters you don't care about reminds me of Dragon's Dogma. In that game there comes a point where the Dragon captures your supposed romantic interest, but really it's just the character with the highest affection for you. You gain affection by completing quests for people so often it's just a character whose quest chain you've done. The other problem is that just talking to people increases their affection and that includes _all the merchants_ you have to talk to dozens or hundreds of times to just to sell and buy basic items. The primary blacksmith merchant is somewhat infamous for being kidnapped by the dragon as is a very young girl (as in obviously a child) whose quest chain results in her getting massive affection bonuses if you complete it a certain way. The result is the very dramatic cut scene where the dragon offers you a supposedly painful choice (sacrifice the kidnap victim for power or fight this massive godlike dragon to save them) is ruined by the victim being some random merchant or the court jester or just some random person whose quest chain you did then promptly forgot about. It's often more funny then dramatic.
Brother, the production quality and even content quality in this video is incredible and I seriously hope you stick with it because quality like this is hard to come by. You earned a sub and I look forward to seeing you hit 10k soon.
Came here for the dragons dogma review and i was not ready for the animated sections you do. I hope to see you grow and look forward to your storyline along the way
Trust me, this September will blow you away in the next video. Pure, raw, animated action. The dragons dogma video was a taste for something far bigger!
Only correction: i was able to explore after dropping off the artifact. I started out telling Sarah I wasn’t ready and became a pirate, and did a couple other factions and quite a few side quests before even starting the main quest line, was able to explore right away. Everything else was pretty accurate lol love the animations and your humor, great take 👏
Finally UA-cam recommendations are working, its been years since a under 5k channel made me sub with one video, and as viewer number 401, I really enjoyed this. The production quality, animated sections are punching well above their weight for a game review and I cant wait for more people to watch this. I am so excited to go through the backlog.I wont be playing starfield for probably 5 years as thats typically how long it takes for bethesdas game to actually become interesting after bug fixes, dlc and modding becomes plentiful (price drop as well) . I was not turned of by spoilers and I agree thematically it works, but to have to redo an entire game to get powers that are not even designed with them in mind is bad gameplay synergy. Anyways just wanted to say your work is not going unnoticed and hope to see more vids in the future.
Your storytelling is incredible. When you were reading the pilgrims writing gave me chills. What a gorgeous piece of writing from this game and your voice matched perfectly.
I love weapon modding, but the investment required here is insane. Especially when you can easily find guns 10 hours in that contain the strongest mods already, so all I’m wasting is character progression, time and skill points.
not gonna like, i misread your subcount at first and thought you had 641k, then i was pretty shocked when i saw again and noticed it was actually just 6.41k sweet mother of god the quality on this video is amazing and i already adore the way you animate everything!
33:16 I am surprised at how much this entire animatic of Zenny fighting the red mech robot is so much more fascinating and cool to witness, than the player searching the entirety of Starfield's random bases and outposts scattered across the planets just to see the same generic alien and pirate gang enemies you fight all the time in these desolate, abandoned places. No legit surprises with enemy variety, no unique mini/optional bosses, nothing in these random locations. You get a 👍🏻 from me for this cool 3D animatic. Must have been time consuming to animate (especially if it was done by just one guy [either you or some other person]).
Designed up and animated the mech all by myself! Self taught and this project was the first time I'm diving deep into animating stuff. Was so fun! And I'll be doing this sort of stuff from no one with the rest of my videos
@@Zenny-UA-cam That's awesome to hear. Got a suggestion so you can kind of make a continuation to this sci-fi story you created with these 3D animatics. How about covering another sci-fi RPG set in space like say The Outer Worlds, or Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, or even better, the Mass Effect trilogy (the Mass Effect trilogy would certainly be a big project to tackle)? Or maybe tackle other sci-fi games set in space that are all about exploring entire planets and solar systems in seamless space to land traversal like with No Man's Sky or Starlink: Battle for Atlas (though with Starlink play the Switch version, that's the best version of that game). Or I guess any sci-fi video game set in space could do the trick (whether it's any Star Wars game, Dead Space, Aliens vs Predator, Alien Isolation, Metroid, Quake 2, Doom [although you already tackled Doom Eternal], Star Fox, Halo, or even TimeSplitters). This way you got not only another game you wanna talk about, but your sci-fi story set in space can get a chance to be continued where it left off.
@@generalcjg the story will continue on from right where zenny kills the dreadnought! And the next video will be on the avatar game coming out in December! I'm already animating Zenny's curiosity as to what the dreadnought is... and who sent it 👀👀
@@Zenny-UA-cam Oh damn, I forgot about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, lol. Thanks for the reminder, and I'll be sure to keep an eye for your video coming out on December.
You hit the nail on the head with the leveling and crafting systems: Bethesda hasn't let you pick a master-level lock without getting to a prerequisite level or perk-point threshold since Skyrim.
Having to waste all your skill points in starfield to do the most mundane stuff was so frustrating, Bethesda is losing thier magic so fast it's sad to see
@@Zenny-UA-cam Much of the magic is in the modding community. They should be paying Nexus and Mod-DB to introduce them to popular mod-makers so Bethesda can try to hire them on. Bethesda is famous for their community and while they embrace them a lot, they could embrace them more. Their new "paid mods" ecosystem is still something I'm skeptical about, but it looks like they might actually go in the right direction. So maybe there's hope if they continue getting their collective act together.
RPGs should put emphasis on character skill over player skill, that's what RP means! It's totally fair to block non-skilled from trying high-level locks. Leveling needs to not be a chore tho, like the weapon modification.
new sub. the level of work that you are doing in these videos is stupid. i love it. keep up the good work. the personality is also very funny. look forward to more vids
Loading screen simulator where every loading screen leads to the exact same small area full of pipes and guys in space suits with guns. Even with mods, it will take 5 years before this game is even halfway decent.
Bro I just found you today, second video I'm watching and I just noticed only 16k subscribers???? The quality of your videos made me assume you had at least a couple hundred thousand, definitely earned my sub. You're gonna blow up one day soon
There are a lot of things that I really don't like in Starfield, it biggest one is that tdhe world as a whole isn't immersive, there are individual stories that are good but when you put the whole thing together it is completely unbelievable, for example you are supposed to be a great explorer going where no one has gone before but even on the farthest planets you will find abandoned research stations or mines occupied by the same boring enemies, pirates, spacers, ecliptic or House Varunn. Constellation is so incompetent that even the Capital Worlds aren't surveyed and every group of space trash has been every where before you, another thing that really kills the immersion is the inconsistencies and convenient moments, for example during the UC Quest you discover how a great threat was happening and you come to the conclusion that someone must have been behind it but instead of having to do an investigation to discover who it is you find a recording 5 minutes later that flat out tells you and things like this are everywhere in the game. And it really doesn't help that the NASA punk theme is the most generic bland sci-fi theme available that ironically were already used in No man's sky and Outer Worlds. And don't get me started on the retarded Multiverse bs, that is a trend that really needs to die.
I did want to have a moment to talk about the nasa punk shit.... I cannot stand it. NOBODY wants a grounded scifi RPG. We want fucking the wild and awesome thrills of space! It's fucking embrassing that this game is so nervous to split away from its aesthetic that there isn't a single set of WINGS you can put on your ship... like... there are ways to make it kinda LOOK LIKE wings.... but no wings because ya don't need them in space. Wtf
@@Zenny-UA-cam I’ll never understand the Appeal of Nasapunk. Like Steampunk is horrifically impractical and environmentally damaging, but it looks cool. NASA tech is by its design bland and clinical, and it has to be since our technology for space travel is…well…currently rudimentary bullshit. There’s a reason the cities are the best part of this game, they have their own specific aesthetic and personal flairs that deviate from the Nasapunk look.
what a truly fantastic summary of all the actual facts of this game (which sucks, but is fascinating af). i think one way to really turn this game around is to make that point of the Hunter attacking the crew happen recursively, with the world resets, constantly losing a member until it dwindles down to nothing (which is basically all it is anyway)
Bro when I looked down and saw you only has 7k subscribers I was shocked. The production value, quality of writing, animations and care put into this, I could have sworn you'd at least be in the 100k club. You're amazing! I hope you get the subs you deserve soon because this was really awesome. Keep it up!
hmm a cozy nice channel i stumbled upon here, dude other than the video content, your 3D skills are really impressive, i loved those small episodic sort of clips
I'm glad I stumbled across this channel; you put an amazing amount of effort into the animated sections, and it shows! The commentary is witty but its clear that it comes from a place of passion, and I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Great work!
The animations were amazing! Especially for the chapter 2 one, you gave a wish to explore that none of the trailers fot this game ever were able to do. Again, amazing!
Hi Zenny, I am new to your channel: thank you so much for taking the time to carefully go through all these games and break them down into a comprehensive review and opinion that is fair as a player, I also enjoy that you correct yourself when you are wrong or misinformed... keeping your information up to date is really important for people like me that doesn't have alot of money to spend on luxuries, but who really wants every cent to be worth that luxury when it can be afforded, your videos really helps out alot when making that decision to buy a game or not, please keep up the amazing work!
This is the first video I've seen of you, and I gotta say the critique was excellent, it was funny, and the 3d segments were unnecessarily badass but I am HERE FOR IT. So I'll def be coming back!
this is my first time coming across this channel but loll bro the persona thing is so cool man. legitimately smiled seeing that. big youtuber in the making.
When I first did the anomaly mission. When I teleported and fought those bugs and came back to the other reality. I straight up thought it was that Love Death & Robots episode where the spaceship crew died and the captain was captured by some grotesque bug. And I was in an altered reality by a big Queen or something.
barely 20 minutes in and i can already tell this will probably be one of the most nuanced takes on the game i’ve seen. Glad to see you’re willing to point out its genuine achievements just as much as it’s shortcomings. thank you!
@@bandanna2388what makes you think the people who have been critical of this game are not being honest? Is it because they happen to disagree with you?😂
@@lawrencehaynes6408 no, because they typically can’t say what they hate about the game without resorting to the default oh too many loading screens or gunplay not good. Or it’s just full of people who haven’t even played the game and are making judgment calls based off what their favourite streamer is saying. Or they are straight up ignoring the great parts of the game to push a narrative that the game is pure trash. Or its people making stupid comparisons between games that share barely any similarities like NMS or Cyberpunk…
Honestly, this is the greatest, most honest review of starfield I have seen. It acknowledges the successes and failures and gives a great representation of the game. Kudos to you!
I only made it about 20 hours into the game, I will need to come back to it because with the deep immersiveness of BG3, and the high octane combat of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, (two games I was playing in tandem with Starfield) it was hard to feel any kind of satisfaction with Starfield. Great video, was glad to listen to it while I drive around making deliveries.
i’m still astounded with the amount of animation and editing work you put in you’re still not at 1ion yet dude, keep up the amazing work, you’ve got this.
I actually subscribed BECAUSE you put animation in the video....I came to hear others take on a game I enjoy. But I'm staying for the animation and added narrative to it. It's awesome bro 💯🔥
The thing that grinds my gears is that I unironically feel I've run out of side content at X00 hours. Go look up "Unique locations starfield". There aren't any. Outside of the cities and main/faction quest locations there are like a whole 4 of them. Red mile, space narco mansion, night at the museum planet, and... that's it? If you do the FC and UC quests and constellation you have seen effectively the whole game in under 30 hours. GG exploring the other 990 planets for a handful of non procgen content.
There could have been a really strong message about caring when things seem infinite. Like with the pilgrim giving up immortality for spending time being human where maybe we get that same choice at the end. If we chose to become a star born then the game resets (there would be a backup save because that’s stupid otherwise, thanks Bethesda) and if you choose not to you still play in the same world and maybe get a cool ending cinematic of your character spending time and living with your choices and your friends. Again with the caring bit, it can be seen with the earth situation where earth was a place of massive importance, our home as a species, but was given up for the infinite expanse of space. It would’ve been cool to see that theme followed throughout and was shown a lot more
I subscribed the instant I got to 30:30 and you acknowledged that not everyone cares about so-called "spoilers." It's so refreshing to not hear someone raving about "go away until you've played the game! Nobody is allowed to learn anything in any way other than the one that I've decided is correct!"
Starfield also has an infinite amount of content in its loading screens between getting out of a chair, leaving the ship, entering a single room shop, leaving a single room shop, using the tram, using a lift, taking off in the ship, travelling via grav-jump, travelling to a new planet in a system, landing on the planet, and many, many others. So much exciting content. It just works (barely).
If you liked the dimension hopping quest you'll probably love TitanFall's II campaign. One of the final missions is that mission, except done so very epically fluidly, and actually using the game's core mechanics.
I actually like that mission in Starfield. Then Titanfall 2 went on sale for a dollar and I played its dimension hopping mission and realized how trash the Starfield one was in comparison. It was the only main story mission in Starfield that I actually enjoyed at the time, too.
My dude, I love this presentation. The 3d animation looks amazing! I love that simple style. It’s a crime that you have 7k subs for the quality you are giving.
On reddit ive heard someone suggest that starfields introduction is the best in gaming and that the opening to skyrim is the equivalent to bad popcron movies just trying to keep people who love COD and have a poor attention span focused....the most hilarious attempt at being pretentious ive ever seen.
Honestly this was the review I was waiting for! You took everything I thought about Starfield, brought it into a new context and made me appreciate the good things about a game I really didn't think I'd appreciate. Also you got a pottymouth. 5/7 - absolutely my favourite Video of yours, and the best discourse on Starfield that I've seen so far! Thanks mate
Man you are on point with the criticisms of the intro. Can't wait for mods that allow for other starting options, this intro was just so badly executed, yet had such good elements to it. They could have had you pick some sort of mundane 'origin' that would determine your first 2 hours of the game or something, which will introduce you to different characters from the start. Miner, soldier, pirate, etc., each intro teaching you the basics of movement, shooting, ship ownership and ship flying. Then each leading you to some same location (the mine) where you end up grabbing the artifact and being introduced to Constipation, with then being given the choice to join or not. Why Beth still thinks they need to maintain a death grip on our hands and rail road the fuck out of their game is fucking beyond me.
When I explored abandoned outposts on planets with no atmosphere and found opened lunchboxes with sandwiches, apples, and drinks exposed to the cold and vacuum, I turned the game off. That destroyed the immersion even before I stumbled across the redundant assets. Are workers taking off their helmets to take a bite? The fuck, Bethesda...
yeah sorry, you can't excuse terrible space exploration in a space exploration game by saying the cities are great. You don't need 500 planets to have 5 big cities to explore. You only need one. Starfield is a futuristic game that has no reason for being a space game other than really lacklustre space combat.
BG3 is this year's biggest release. Starfield is this year's biggest con. They actually write "explore with unparalleled freedom" about a game with more invisible walls and loading screens than 99% other games out there. Heck, at least old games cut into zones let you manually cross the zone borders so that you get a sense of where what is and that's an actual place. In Starfield you literally get around via the menu.
I appreciate the generally fair tonality paired with spikes of bafflement. I definitely would not be able to come with such a balanced approach to a polarizing game like Starfield, so kudos to ya. Theres a plethora of other issues you could have mentioned, and I'm sure you probably considered doing so, but I get how some things don't make the final cut in videos. All in all great video!
@@Zenny-UA-cam Totally get that! I get about 200gigs worth of footage before i even boot up adobe and half of it doesn't even make the cut once the written meets the visual in the timeline.

Honestly since I've found your channel I thought you had a lot more subs, the animations are great, how you present the games and talk about them is interesting, the flavour you give each interaction and thought is unique, I've started to binge watch your videos at work lol
For having less than 7k subscribers at the time of my viewing, you have a very good presentation. Also, the animated stuff during the critique was pretty fun and entertaining as well. Nice video, liked 👍and subscribed! As far as Starfield is concerned, I am having fun with it at over 200 hours played so far. However, I feel the game has gone backwards in some regards compared to Bethesda's prior games. For every step forward I feel they have taken two steps backwards in other areas. Too many to name here right now, but overall it was a fun game that will only get better with patches and the inevitable mods.
BEFORE YOU COMMENT!
*SMALL CORRECTIONS* : I was WRONG about when you are free to do what you want
- OPENING SPEAKING TO SARAH: to test when I was free to do what I want I used fast travel as a tester and the game would decline my request as I needed to complete the opening.
Thank you to those pointing this out to me

no offense mate, but everyone who is playing this game from launch day til the next year are bethesda's beta testers, why would they pay beta testers when they can easily get some moron to purchase their game at full price only to have them report the bugs, it's been like this for the last decade with all the other games released buggy as hell at launch.
i don't expect this game to get anywhere near good until at least 3 to 5 years from now.

Wise choice
for an RPG do that, for a shooter play cyberpunk
This is the most impressive, engaging video essay I have seen. Your animations and commentary style are wonderful and reminds me of Good Game.
Thank you! The animations will definitely return
They lock you to have the companions because if they don't you will not care to the level of not even knowing them, since the AI is so atrocious and in this game specialy they are very unintresting.
But why do they also have an Introvert perk which makes you stronger for not having any companions around?
Can you at least tell the companion to stay in the ship or stay far back? Like if you want to be stealthy?
Yeah and with many players being fresh off of cyberpunks new dlc I can imagine it would be quite jarring to not be able to fuck up corpos
@@Zenny-UA-cam yeah I especially wanted to rp my first character as extremely anti-corpo. And given the very real world animosity towards corporations, it’s very jarring to be offered literally no options against the game’s very intrusive corps.

@@TheCephaluswhat are you talking about you sound very upset about something
@@TheCephalusI am rather confused, as Starfield has the bare minimum artwork - most of what is here is AI generated.
Yeah I know they never explicity said this and would probably deny it. But any artist worth their salt can easily spot the myriad of oddities that mark Starfield out as an AI creation.
Also Indie games I have played, are basically better in all other areas except swanky bullshit marketing. Yes including art.
You sound like a a wee bit of a video-games Phillistine to be honest with you. How many Indie games with no art whatsoever even _exist at all?_
I could not name you a game with no art lol what are we talking 1980s text RPGs or something?
The only defences people can come out with for it's pathetic attempt of entertaining us all, are ping-pong style serve returns like "But you just need to brainwash yourselves with another 60 hours before it gets good" and "You are a Bethesda hater"
Again something only a baby AI would think it could sneak past us.
Idk why I've been finding it cathardic to watch vids of people shitting on starfield lately but here I am stumbling on another vid.
It's often more funny then dramatic.

sweet mother of god the quality on this video is amazing and i already adore the way you animate everything!

That is such a big compliment. I loved sequilitis. Really wish he stuck with it because man that shit was awesome
The pirates are the real explorers
@@stingerjohnny9951Nasapunk was the only thing I liked about the game, so I guess people have different tastes. I like how tangible it feels
@@througheverything I’m glad you enjoy it even if I personally don’t get it 👍
what a truly fantastic summary of all the actual facts of this game (which sucks, but is fascinating af). i think one way to really turn this game around is to make that point of the Hunter attacking the crew happen recursively, with the world resets, constantly losing a member until it dwindles down to nothing (which is basically all it is anyway)
Gonna be making them a regular thing from now on! People seemed to really like them
the animations and dedication just for a review video is amazing. Honestly keep it up. Your 3d art is awesome.
Why thank you! Been fiddling with 3d for a bit now and this is the first video where I went full one!
I'm glad I stumbled across this channel; you put an amazing amount of effort into the animated sections, and it shows! The commentary is witty but its clear that it comes from a place of passion, and I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Great work!
Thank you! The animated stuff is hard work, but It will be returning in the next video that's for sure!
The animations were amazing! Especially for the chapter 2 one, you gave a wish to explore that none of the trailers fot this game ever were able to do. Again, amazing!
I personally like your animations, the extra story is something I wanna dig into when I have the time :D
The whole channel has teases, but if you just want the big animated works it's just the starfield and avatar video!
@@Zenny-UA-cam Much thanks Zenny! Ill be sure to go through it, maybe Ill update my findings/theories here!
you're doin great dude u gotta be so proud with the sheer quality of ur vids. keep it up & no doubt you'll get the recognition you deserve
As one of those 400, I am certainly enjoying myself with this video. Thankyou❤
1 down, 399 more to go 😎
This is the first video I've seen of you, and I gotta say the critique was excellent, it was funny, and the 3d segments were unnecessarily badass but I am HERE FOR IT. So I'll def be coming back!
Dude what the heck. This was so good. Your review, your super cool animations! First video I've seen of yours. Lets get this guy some subs!
this is my first time coming across this channel but loll bro the persona thing is so cool man. legitimately smiled seeing that. big youtuber in the making.
When I first did the anomaly mission. When I teleported and fought those bugs and came back to the other reality. I straight up thought it was that Love Death & Robots episode where the spaceship crew died and the captain was captured by some grotesque bug. And I was in an altered reality by a big Queen or something.
Bethesda's dialog writer: I just made it up as I go along.
You are not supposed to do that. Total 4th wall break ala Deadpool.
barely 20 minutes in and i can already tell this will probably be one of the most nuanced takes on the game i’ve seen. Glad to see you’re willing to point out its genuine achievements just as much as it’s shortcomings. thank you!
I like to maintain a healthy balance 😊
Yeah, the vitriol around this game and Bethesda has been nauseating ngl, finally someone with an honest and nuanced take of this game lol.
Lol sure
Why thank you! The next videos narrative continues on from this video! While also talking about another game! So excited
Your animations look great, keep it up! Great vid 😉
It would’ve been cool to see that theme followed throughout and was shown a lot more
I keep hearing people trashing this game, yet at the end telling me to go buy it.
WTF?! I'm not touching this garbage game.
I subscribed the instant I got to 30:30 and you acknowledged that not everyone cares about so-called "spoilers." It's so refreshing to not hear someone raving about "go away until you've played the game! Nobody is allowed to learn anything in any way other than the one that I've decided is correct!"
Unkillable NPCs in a game where you literally travel to another universe time and again, restarting the game, is so stupid.
I should be able to kill anything and everything in a Bethesda game and I'll die on that hill
6:15 i love that the game *ACTS* like you can skip the tutorial. Before making you do it anyways
Animating something that only 400 people are gonna watch, you sir just earned a subscriber
I was not expecting so many people to see it! AAAAHHHHH
If you liked the dimension hopping quest you'll probably love TitanFall's II campaign. One of the final missions is that mission, except done so very epically fluidly, and actually using the game's core mechanics.
I WAS GONNA BRING THAT UP! was kind of cool seeing Bethesda take inspiration
Cheers! The 3d animation will return in December for the new video!
Entertaining, creative, funny, intriguing, and with great points as always!
Thanks for the work animating and rendering your video, it looks stunning
Why thank you! As of reading this message I'm actually animating the next videos segments! How wild
This iw an amazingly structured video, well edited, fairly critiqued, and entertaining to boot! Youve earned a new subscriber!
Cheers my dude!
Thanks mate
So glad you enjoyed! Yeah I gotta tame this mouth before it gets me in trouble
@@Zenny-UA-cam nah, stay the way that you are
Your animated sections are rad. I was just listening to your commentary, but then started watching because of the animated sections.
Well thought out take, witty, lovely stylish animations, thats a 10! Easy subscription 😁
Bethesda hasn't immersed me in a world since 2012
I don't like glazing people on the internet but holy hell the quality of editing in this video is unfathomably amazing for such a small channel
To clarify, The Emissary is whomever you let die. In Zenny's case, it was Sam. In mine, it was Barret.
Also, your animation work is really good. Amazing quality for such a small channel.
More animation in coming! Got another review cooking now and the video after will be animation ONLY! So we will see how it all turns out
yeah sorry, you can't excuse terrible space exploration in a space exploration game by saying the cities are great.
There is about 30 mins of video left on the cutting room floor haha
@@Zenny-UA-cam Totally get that! I get about 200gigs worth of footage before i even boot up adobe and half of it doesn't even make the cut once the written meets the visual in the timeline.
10:25 -- Baaahaha! Right? I goddamn LOL'd. That comment alone is worth a sub, but I did enjoy the entire video, for what it's worth - thank you. Subbed.
damn your writing and presentation is so good cant believe you only have like 5k subs
To be honest? I'm far more interested in your own little animated story you got going on here than the review! Nicely done.
amazing video as always but i'm still gonna be mad for the low views anyways thanks for gracing us with ur art :D
Always a privilege to have you all watching
