It's mentioned in the Netflix documentary, 'The Varsity Blues College admissions Scandal' It was because of this guy called Rick Singer he parented to be a personal college counsellor, and told the child’s parents, that he can’t get into a good school. He took a sum from the parents, bribed the admissions officers and children never knew.
He did a great job until he got caught. The colleges were pissed because they received nothing from it. Greedy colleges. Large donations are guaranteed admissions. No difference. You think George W. Bush academically got into Yale? Nope. Google his grades. He was a C+ to B- student.
I don’t have an issue with this at all. Everyone looks for a leg up and being wealthy is one advantage like an athlete or a minority. Why do they get an advantage? Plus everyone also knocks legacy. Why? One does not have legacy without donations. You’re not considered legacy just because you graduated from the school without donations. These donations increase endowment allowing poor broke students to attend ivies. It’s always about money. Ignorant college students think it’s unfair. That’s the real world. You think building donations are made without concessions? Get real fools.
@ayaanrahim6276 if you can’t imagine a bum becoming a doctor secondary to money, what about unearned academically? Meritless acceptance is becoming reality in medical schools. DEI infiltrating med. there are already a group of physicians like me speaking out against it. Would you like a minimally “qualified” person to operate on a loved one in the name of DEI? Works both ways.
@ayaanrahim6276 if you’re against a person with money becoming a doctor, imagine a meritless one. Yes, meritless entry into med school is becoming reality based on color. If you can’t compete for a medical seat one is not qualified period. There is a movement among physicians sounding off on meritless entry. They are saying enough is enough.
@ayaanrahim6276 have you heard academic meritless entry into med schools are beginning? Agenda driven admissions. Scary when dealing with life and death. Lucky physicians are speaking out against it.
I really agree with your take here world isnt fair and will never if they have an advantage of course they should use it if not then in my opinion a fool
