One of the only ppl I listen to for college advice, i’m in 9th grade and super into biomedical engineering/biochemical engineering and I’m not to obsessed with getting into an ivy or t20 but I just want to have a good stable career that I enjoy and make my mom proud. Your vids r very helpful, thanks!!
omg omg, I'm in 9th grade and I'm into biomedical. do you want to do some passion project or impact project with me. If yes, please let me know. I'm Annika. Thanks:)
I really wish I knew this type of info before I became a senior. I feel like I’m so late and that I have nothing to show on my college applications. My sister is a freshmen and I am so heavy on her about making herself shine and stand out from the rest of her peers. When I got into high school I didn’t understand how important it was to join activities and clubs and make myself stand out. Honestly so unfortunate but I’m grateful getting this info now. When I got into high school all I did was just do track and field.
don't worry i just finished senior year and i am applying to colleges now you're luckier than you think just practice the sat do 7 activities and do them good no more no less(show leadership and passion) show the unique side of your self and you're already above most students
@@nsjwnnw7680 thanks. I’m taking the sat again this Saturday and I joined some clubs and trying to build my status in them. And of course I’m going to do track again lol. I’m trying to also volunteer to demonstrate my passion but it’s lowkey kinda hard
omg if i could star a comment for relatability it would be yours. Im going through the same situation right now (including trying to show the importance of ecs to my siblings 😭) i also had no idea abt this esp bc im the first in my family who wants to study abroad. My parents are really big introverts and that’s why they don’t really get involved in my life but they have gone abroad and they know all the application system but they never told me until i started my senior year and somehow it’s my fault and i should have known sooner. Since where i study, people don’t go abroad just study in our home country (where the application process is WAY different and WAY easier with no importance to essays and ecs) i had NO clue about the importance of ecs. It’s my last year now and i regret it so much. But im still hoping for the best and trying to do whatever i can now. I wish you good luck too
5:50 I want to sincerely thank you for highlighting this. UA-cam has done a great job recommending this video to me. At first, I wanted to go to college to study Pedagogy/Psychology/English Literature. Still, lately, I've been thinking about my ECs and they aren't helping me get into one of the aforementioned subjects. I do have a list of many photography activities that I've been involved in, but I didn't want to apply to this field. I am still unsure what I should study but Photography/Videography would be a much better fit for me. I didn't know whether having centralized activities on my EC's list would help me or not - I thought it wasn't a good thing. This video proved me wrong, thanks for that! But I'm still scared to apply as a photographer. What if my degree won't help me? Should I completely ditch my photography-related extracurriculars and focus on english, pedagogy and literature instead?
Thank you so much for this video, I don't usually comment but I felt the need to give you much thanks. Starting my high school journey I believed I had to stitch together many arbitrary activities together to get into top colleges but now I can see much clearer, in that it's part of the whole story to help in your career. Along with the fact of having top colleges for networking rather than a brag to show off to other people.
man tnx so much! this guy is mindblowing! with his guidance, although im into physics and computer science, i won silver at iypt, won europe largest science fair , pursued resraech in aerospace and have accepted resrearch, and more. i owe you big time. tnx so much pratik
I've taken a gap year, can I put my activities that I've done AFTER high school in my college application or do I only include the things I did in high school. I put my work into some activities that I've lost interest for and don't think it'll help my application process any better. studied in rural village in south asia (no complaints lol, won't make any difference in application anyways. ) so not much ECAs going on here. I've recently moved to capital city and am engaging in many activities I love. so I was curious if I can or cannot include those activities in my application. as far as I know, I cannot put it in my application, but I'd like to be sure anyways.
Is it a good topic for me to write about how I've always been the odd one in mostly everywhere? And what metaphors can I use in the essay or should I just write it as it is. I'm having a really hard time here guys please help
Yo! I watched your club video and it had good advice, but how do i get a teacher to sponsor my club??? I want to make an engineering club and i can do all the work, but the 4 teachers i asked to advise it rejected me😔
I had the exact same problem this year, I also wanted to make an engineering club but got rejected due to the teacher having too many clubs. I suggest asking near the end of this year and in the meantime, solidifying the plans or maybe trying to a club outside of the school. Starting gives you higher chances to get an advisor unless the teacher rejects you for other reasons than their scheduling.
@@trixie7516 Very epic, I think there's like 1-2 more teachers I will ask and hopefully they will agree. Got any advice for successfully leading a club if/when it started? Like how to recruit members and make it fun and meaningful and all that?
Hey , I am from India and currently in 11th. and I have decided to pursue higher education from us and I don't have any extra curricular activities. can i star know to get in
Well you can substitute them for IB or honors courses, but unfortunately AP courses are the holy grail. CollegeBoard has a monopoly over college admissions.

A few weeks ago I asked my 6th teacher and she said yes. It’s a big club too. Don’t give up and keep asking every teacher.

Basically what I did is I went door-to door and asked all the teachers until someone said yes
LIL UPDATE: after asking 6 teachers and all the (good) science/math teachers, i got an english teacher to advise it
WE UP‼️📈
