UA-cam recommended your video to me.
I admire your work ethic, strong communication skills, yearning to spread your knowledge/build community and sense of humility.
And great work bringing medicine out from hospital/clinics to youtube and social media.

Andrea, someday you may discuss the route some medical students take that help them pay for their cost of medical school and residency and that is the route that takes them into one of the military services as a medical student, intern and resident during which they are officers as 2nd Lt, 1st Lt and ultimately as a Capt when they become doctors. After residency, either in or out of the military, they has some years of service to do as military doctors. Beside their pay as officers I'm not sure what else the services pay such as tuition, room and board in medical school.

Hi Andrea, this is Bella from Italy. I've been watching your videos and reading your blogs everytime I felt overwhelmed, drained because of the massive amount of studying or discouraged. I tried the hotdog sheets method and it worked great for some of my exams but I just can't make it work for anatomy.. Is seems like it takes to much time and effort tomake an anatomy one (any suggestion?) I've also bought a white board since You said you use it and I find it quite useful! But what concerns me is that I am 22 and I am in my 2nd year of 6 (I've started a year late) of med school and sometimes is feels like I am not living my life fully. I am always studying while my friends are Traveling, working, enjoing life. Sometimes this feeling gets me. I honestly can't imagine how you make it though these years with a boyfriend and friends. have been dating a guy for 4 years now but again, it seems he can't fully understand me. Did you have a busy social life? How did you manage to pass the exams so well and have a social life? Sorry for the long comment, hope this doesn't bother you! Ps keep being this amaizing, I look to you when I need to find motivation. Thank you.

Hi andrea! Your videos have helped me so much. Right now I'm picking my undergrad I don't know if I want to go to med school or if I should go into research/another science field. The thing I'm hesitant about with med school is a) how tough it is, especially since I think I want an MD-PhD and b) that interacting with people is a big part of being a doctor. I struggle with socializing, as in I'm not good with keeping conversations... so I don't know if people would want me as a doctor. I'm really interested in pathology and I know it doesn't involve interacting with patients, but I don't want to go through all that schooling if I only had one option open. And also, I don't know how I'd deal with death!
I feel like many doctors are these type-A go getters, and I'm not like that. I struggle a lot with organization and getting things done. But I still can get high grades. I'd find an oppertunity to shadow someone but I don't know any doctors and its not really a thing done here. Actually, I think it may be illegal.
With research, the thing stopping me is job stability and oppterunities. I live in a big city but still, I don't think there's that much room for me to get employed and have a stable job.

Radiology doesn't involve much patient care either

Luke Snyder It's not like I don't like patient care it's that I'm bad at talking to people. I would like to take care of people. I just think I wouldn't be a good talker.
+I don't think radiology appeals to me bc of health risks+ I want something a bit more hands on

+BBG That's a really tough question and I can't tell you what to do. Try talking to more people in medicine. Talking to patients is different than talking in other social settings, so don't count yourself out just because you are more of an introvert. If you love the science and research aspect of medicine, you could start with your PhD and then if you feel like you want more, go to medical school after. Good luck!!

+BBG I think by time you're gonna do just fine dealing with patients bcuz it's all about breaking the ice with the patient after you've done that u'll have a great conversation with the patient and am sure he/she is gonna be amazed by how you deal with him/her....i think shadowing a doctor and see how he talks with patients he sees at the 1st time is gonna give you a great advantage to improve your communicating skills and give you an idea about how doctors deal with the patient.
