    Your channel is by far the best one for speedruning documentaries, there is literally zero competition.
    You go so in depth, cheer everyone who have helped push the games and the runner interviews really add to the storytelling. Good job Ricky, keep doing what you do, its unique.
    Can't wait to see ERA IX when it is ready.

      I love Ricky's job, but I think you're undermining Summoning Salt's work, another channel as amazing as Ricky's in terms of tech explanation and storytelling

    • @chrissoucy1997
      @chrissoucy1997 11 днів тому +1

      @AlyoshaIsReal He is good, but I think Ricky has stepped up above him with his Jak 3 series. The quality of the series is really above that in my opinion. The Speed Docs channel is close to Ricky, but they haven't made a video in so long that I don't know if we can consider them as competition anymore.

    • @chrissoucy1997
      @chrissoucy1997 11 днів тому +4

      @@AlyoshaIsRealAnd Also, Summoning Salt and Speed Docs have never done a 9 episode series dedicated to the speedrunnning story of just one game. JAK 3 ERA VIII by itself is longer than many Speed Docs and Summoning Salt complete documentaries, that's an insane level of dedication and detail to tell the whole speedrunning story of a game that sets Ricky alone at the top for me without a doubt. The series is 5 hours 17 minutes long so far and ERA IX is not even out yet so it might end up being a 6 and a half to 7 hours documentary series.

    • @rFey
      @rFey 10 годин тому

      @@chrissoucy1997 I feel like Wirtual might be a better comparison when we're talking about depth/amount of info packed into world record history videos. I know Ricky likes and watches his videos too so it's not too surprising this series has a similar vibe and pacing. 18 years of competition on a ~20s trackmania map becomes a 30 minute Wirtual video, while 10 years of competition on a ~40min game becomes a 6+ hour Ricky series.

      Comments like these are so disrespectful. Firstly, they show that you really don't realize how much work goes into videos like these. Secondly, it shows your ignorance of how often or seldom videos are uploaded since this one isn't unusually "late". Thirdly, it says you don't appreciate the quality as much as you should. Fourthly, it's just like most other youtube comments: unoriginal copies with no thought other than you getting likes. You could just as well be a bot, at least that's not as depressing as an actual human acting like one.

    Having had the fortunate privilege of following the creation of this video as close as I have, it turned out even better than I had imagined. You keep optimizing the pacing and story telling, and take them to ever greater heights. Where I feel like you especially break the standard for speedrunning videos is the montages. They're so masterfully put together in terms of editing, shot selection, music etc, and they give me goosebumps every time.

    I have to admit something: I have never played any Jak and Daxter game. I have never watched anyone play a Jak game, not even for 5 seconds. The only reason I knew about the existence of this game is because there were easter eggs about it in Ratchet and clank, and I learned about those from youtube videos 10-15 years after I played it as a kid.
    Yet, I watched every single "Conquering Jak 3" video and it was very interesting. Everything was so well explained even I understood most of it. Keep up the good work man

    Also shout-out to the usual classic collection of musical bangers in this video; Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, Megaman X, Undertale... I'd say everything's here, but that'd have to include some Sonic, which I didn't hear of in it.

    I may have not been there personally but I think you can really tell just how amazing and friendly the community is by watching all these videos, how everyone keeps cheering each other on and trying to get them to do their best and push themselves, trying to find new secrets in this game that people have come together to share their love for and to even see that the "rivalry" for first place rather results in pushing each other and even rooting for "the rival" instead of wishing each other failed runs... It's just so nice to see and a good reminder that the world doesn't have to be such a dark gloomy place where everyone resents the other for their achievements

    Ricky i really want to say thank you. Its hard to find content creators that are so clearly passionate about what they do. I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this series and it always makes my day when i see you pop up :)
    P.s. the different camera angles used for your end montage was so fucking smooth lol ❤️

    I've always adored how the speedrunning community is, by pushing each other to reach new heights. Honestly makes me think of Goku and Vegeta pushing each other to get stronger and stronger.

    Dude! What a video. It brought tears to my eyes.
    Jak 3 is probably in my top 3 most important games. It was the first game I could beat by myself, with no help or walkthrough, for one simple reason: I’m Brazilian. Maybe that doesn’t sound like a big deal, but language barriers were rough when I was a little boy. Jak 3 was subtitled in European Portuguese, and although it’s not the same as Brazilian Portuguese, it was close enough for me to understand what I needed to do-and it probably helped motivate me to beat the game. To see a video like this after watching the whole saga is just... wonderful.
    Thanks, Ricky. For the video, and above all, for showing love for this game.

    Oh, man, how am I supposed to just _wait_ for a follow up to this masterpiece? /gen What a fantastic video. You have a very distinct storytelling style which I often find myself craving anytime I'm in the mood for a speedrunning documentary, and it's been such a pleasure to watch you refine it over the course of this series

    God I loved everything in this video so much, but the editing was a standout for me!
    50:42 with the synced ratchet bgm was sick, and the recreated gameplay with cinematic camera angles on your 38 run added so much flair
    Great job, and I can't wait for the final episode!

    Ngl this one hit home for me as a person who's hit that "wall" where I need to make a decision if I want to make my passion into something that might actually help with money or to try to survive the working world as a person with Autism.
    I didn't expect to see something that emotionally impactful during a series retelling the speedrunning history of a 20 year old game but y'know what? It's good, really good and I'm super happy you've found your passion.
    Even if you don't have 1st place in Jak3 categories, you know the history and are connected to the community. That alone shows your passion and dedication for speedrunning, that's awesome dude.
    Easily my favorite video essay part in the series, and goddamn, I love a good video essay. Cheers, Ricky! I look forward to what comes next from you!

    Okay so i discovered this series from this episode. Let me just say, this series easily rivals some of Summoning Salt's best content. You could, and should, release a cut with all the parts stitched together, because videos like that go crazy. I can tell you I'd fall asleep to that video a 1,000 times because it's so interesting yet soothing.
