Welcome Dawson to the NASCAR community. Interesting fact. Some people who used to play NFL or who didn’t make it are pit crew members for NASCAR teams. So there’s a connection to NASCAR and the NFL in a way
never heard of him before this all happened but it was cool watching everything unfold this past week on twitter, hopefully he’s actually fr about all this, but i’ll understand if the interest fizzles out eventually
It's interesting how just some guy goes completely viral for making an observation that a lot of people made. It's a really cool gesture by NASCAR. And it's drivers to invite him to try to get him more acclimated to the sport as well. I'm happy for the dude.
For anyone on any platform coming into the NASCAR space the first thing you got to know is that half (or more) of the fans are haters and they definitely have the loudest, most annoying voices. Ignore them (don’t feed the animals) Hopefully NASCAR snatch this young man up. Maybe make a “Getting to know NASCAR” type show or documentary for new fans to follow into the sport. Make it cool to be a fan 😎
I mean hey maybe he can bring more people to the sport?? I mean good for nascar trying to bring in more avenues. Honestly a dream of mine and this dude is living it. Good for him! Welcome to the sport Icy. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have since 99’ 😎
Without this video, I would’ve never known who Icyvert was and why he was trending in the NASCAR community… Thanks Darian! And welcome to the sport Icyvert!
I thought it was odd seeing him pop into my feed because hes never been on nascar twitter before, but when he came up in the video and talked to us, i can dig it.
I see nothing wrong with this NASCAR is trying to capitalize on the publicity and he has a decent following on twitter so might as well try and win him over. He seems like a chill dude, I’d let him tailgate with my crew if he ever wanted to lol
Well I appreciate you introducing him because I'm not going to lie I'm one of the ones that he was pissing off because it felt like his little bit of Fame was going to his head on Twitter but he does appear to be a pretty nice guy🤷♂️
It's always great to see new people come into the sport and the fanbase, so, come on in IcyVert, don't let the weird ones like UltimateDragon23 scare you away (as we just ignore her anyways)
I'm super excited that NASCAR gained him as a fan, and I love how genuine he is at wanting to learn more about the sport! However, and this isn't his problem at all, the problem that I have that's related to the increased amount of eyes on the sport thanks to the Atlanta finish is that I fully expect it to be a flash in the pan. We got nothing long-term from Ross Chastain's wall ride, and I fear that the status quo of stagnant at best, dropping at worst ratings output will return within the next few races.
Sorry, I don't support fans of enemy territory. 🤷♂️ In all seriousness, i'm glad to see NASCAR branching out into other sports communuties and bringing in new fans, however, my one gripe is that this is the NASCAR this current generation will only ever know, the one with the playoff system, restrictions on HP, etc. without appreciating what came beforehand to where we are today.
@@MyDogFulton Most of us, since NASCAR has been going on for 76 years and this is the 11th year that a ton of fans and drivers still point out they hate this system because it isn't appropriate for racing... NFL has had the Super Bowl since 1967 as part of a merger and playoffs since 1933.
Well... Turns out I was wrong. He *is* an "industry plant." Specifically a propagandist for Spire. How long before everyone claims they've always loved Carson Hocevar after trashing him at Phoenix in 2023?
Any and all new fans are welcome in NASCAR. Even if he was a plant or not is irrelavent. It's NEW EYES on the sport. It's POSITIVE ATTENTION. Like it or not, NASCAR is a dying sport right now. This brings a much needed spotlight on NASCAR.
@@Lowlife-North NASCAR is a dying sport. Accept it. Viewership is still extremely down from it's highs and streaming numbers are nowhere near the heights of other streaming shows. New eyes help to keep it from dying and guys like IcyVert help get more viewers.
Weird how this guy gets so much attention from NASCAR and the teams while NASCAR doesnt even give af about their own content creators that have nearly just as big of an audience
Cool to see that this guy seems interested in the series, but ya gotta admit all of the attention coming from industry members out of nowhere seemed so strange, mainly because I cannot recall this EVER happening before. Heck what about all those influencers that lost it when the Hail Melon went viral? I'll admit I was one of the guys that thought this was nothing more than a manufactured stunt but never felt any resentment towards him like most of the Twitter mob did. Comes with the territory I guess.
My problem with this is it shows desperation out of NASCAR. I mean seriously if someone is going to get offered a free race then keep that stuff private. Having a bunch of celebrities and influencers suddenly take interest in your sport like it was with F1 looks fake. NASCAR just needs to be NASCAR to get fans and quit constantly trying to change the product. I get NASCAR is a business but it’s bad business to look desperate.
NASCAR Reddit is toxic as hell, so it doesn't surprise me to see the comments about "the blacks." I'm a NASCAR fan since I was a kid in the 90s, but I'm also queer AF and a furry, so I quickly learned to avoid the Reddit. I just stick to furry-only motorsports groups now.
The thing is even if this guy is only a fleeting visitor so be it. If these social media influencers that get excited by 1 video and make it go viral and only .1% of their followers stick around as long term fans then that equals hundreds of thousands of new fans overall, even if the initial influencers go away after a few weeks
An interesting situation to be in to my personal opinion i am more open than most doesn't matter who they are or where they from but gatekeeping is the worst thing to happen XD but alas the nascar community is divided and will never be unified
I hope this is a joke, my grandfather was one of the first NASCAR drivers and died in a race and some idiot on Twitter is getting free stuff while NASCAR acts like the family doesn't exist.
saying you despise the nascar reddit because they called you out for not listing sources is pretty crazy lmfao. Im sure this will be deleted like all the other comments tho. Not trying to hate, i actually fuck with you. just stop handing them reason to shit on you. Cant defend you on there forever.
Ok I would *NOT* have leaked that message from Hocevar. Now I see why some think this guy is a "plant". Unfortunately the Hocevar DM gives that assumption some legitimacy. Hope IcyVert can prove the assumption wrong. Also thanks for the shout out. ✌

Hello
Dawson
Icy is def a industry plant
Up and down story
Imagine if you made you own channel called icyvert lol
I have mixed feelings about this all. Because it's all kind of come from nowhere. But if he's legitimately wanting to be a fan. He's family to me ❤

Yep. Quite literally saw it with a few CFL and practice squad linemen being on William Byron's pit crew during the 500.
