    ah I see why u remade this. last time u said lets let x = theta/2 for the double angle formula. That was very hard to intuitively understand and didn't rly make sense to me. This is a much better explanation!

    hello sir, would we ever have to derive these equations in the real exam

    • @TLMaths
      @TLMaths  Рік тому +3

      No you won't need to be able to derive them

    If tanx=sinx/cosx why can't we say cosx=x/x=1 when small?

    • @TLMaths
      @TLMaths  3 роки тому +1

      Well it is, but it's not particularly good. 1-(θ^2)/2 is a better approximation. All of these, for sin, cos and tan can be expanded to include more terms and get more accurate approximations, but these approximations in the video are 'good enough'

    Do we need to know the whole process or just the formula

    • @TLMaths
      @TLMaths  4 роки тому +11

      None of the specifications say that you need to be able to replicate the derivation.

      Yes I would definitely advise that

      @@TLMaths So we should go through "E6 Compound Angles & Equivalent Forms" before E2 "Small Angle Approximations"?

      @@xander4003 The order of the playlist is based on the order of the DfE guidance document that was then used to build the exam board specifications. Unfortunately the order of the playlist is not always in the best order of delivery or learning.

    Why do you use C prime? Is that referring to differentiation?

    • @TLMaths
      @TLMaths  3 роки тому +1

      No, a prime does not necessarily mean differentiation and it doesn't in this case. It is called C' as C approaches this point as the angle gets smaller.

    Is this part of the AQA Alevel syllabus?

    • @TLMaths
      @TLMaths  4 роки тому +1

      I don't see why a similar diagram couldn't be used to test your understanding of SOHCAHTOA and how the small angle approximation comes about. It's probably more likely to come up as either simplifying an expression, or through differentiation from first principles.
