[Kubota Diesel] Replacing Fan & Alternator Belt: ZD Zero Turn Mowers & Some Tractors

- In this HOW TO I'm changing or replacing the fan & alternator belt on a #kubota diesel engine. The belt routing is fairly simple on these machines it turns the water pump and the alternator. Belts will stretch, dry rot, and crack between the cogs over time which will cause them to become loose. If not #repair or fixed could lead to the belt breaking and causing the motor to overheat or causing a squeak or squeal. The #equipment I'm working on is a 2005 ZD28. These mowers have a 3-cylinder engine that has a 3-bolt PTO coupler mounted on the belt pulley that turns the hydrostatic transmission and has to be unbolted to install the belt. This is the same removal procedure for ZD18, ZD21, ZD25, & other ZD models. Some other Kubota models that have similar 3 bolt coupler shafts are the BX compact, F, and some lawn #tractor , but additional parts or deck may have to be removed to service them. The ZD series zero-turn is one of the best mowers I have ran, and with normal maintenance will last a very long time with minimal problems.

Brilliant! I was looking for just this information to replace the belt on a G1900 mower. The video is worth several thousand words.
Glad it helped. Thanks For Watching
What size wrench do you use on the PTO coupler to hold it in place
1 5/16". You can also use a taper ended pry bar or big & long flat head screwdriver, run it threw the u-joint to hold it. A pipe wrench can also be used or an adjustable wrench.
@@hp_outdoors thanks for the info on this matter I've got to do a belt replacement on my nephew's Kubota z.t.r diesel powered mower
