假如战争今天爆发, If War Breaks Out Today. Another Soviet-style thousand-men-and-women-shouting-into-microphone march...I love it.
We can tell it's "post-Cultural Revolution" since the lyrics basically doesn't have anything to do with the "Party Chairman Revolution" theme. It also has this very Cold War vibe with talks about "if war breaks out today". But this song is actually super new--it came out in 2013, which is kinda surprising for a Soviet-style march like this.
This song came out from another call to all military units for "military-strengthening themed songs" made by no other but our dear old PLA General Political Department Propaganda Department (总政治部宣传部)--you might remember that "When That Day Comes" (当那一天来临) song also came out of such a contest, but that was in 2005, and this time it's 2013. This song is a part of the "Military-Strengthening Battle Song" (强军战歌) series organized by the General Political Department that included a good few dozens of new military songs. Well, too bad we won't see those fellas from the GPD anymore since it's been disbanded in the 2015 PLA reform.
This traditional Soviet-style performance was done by the General Political Department Song and Dance Troupe in the 2014 Theatrical Performance for Veterans. THERE IS ALSO A ROCK VERSION of this song, performed in the 2013 Military-Strengthening Battle Song Concert by a certain 66284 Unit, which I have no idea what kind of military unit it is (just so you know I haven't memorized all the PLA unit IDs because I have a life), but it's rock and it's pretty cool, and you can check it out here：

其实这首挺中国啊，基本全程五声，感觉中式的调子还真的更适合快歌

共产党的军歌没有以前的好听了，主要也是歌词缺乏朴素的审美和阶级性导致的，首先歌词一定要朗朗上口，不要弄那些什么“意念”之类的词，再有起码要体现人民大众的意志吧，现在搞得这种意识丧失了，让人觉得总缺了点什么。
