It's absolutely a gem and among my favorites. Though I wouldn't say it's the most hidden one, especially with Bleed from the same album having 30 million views on UA-cam. As someone who's listened to their entire discography, I'd probably give that title to something like Aztec Two-Step from their EP NONE. They never played it live, completely omitted it from certain releases, and never even released the lyrics.
For those interested in learning more about that song, I discuss it at length on my podcast with Dr. Lucas who has written a paper about Meshuggah's rhythms entitled: So complete in beautiful deformity. Specifically we talk about the first riff of the song and how it's constructed.
I'm more interested in how its so hard to wrap my head around the later variations of it in the song, as the first one feels quite "easy" to understand. The riff at 1:40 however? Still to this day I cant
@@Steff_kjns That's actually the easiest rhythmically, just 2 1 1 1. Pitch wise it's the same as the beginning but has a little catch where it starts over on itself every other time.
4:23..... and end is my favorite. Helped me get through depression while my son was having surgery on his broken arm. While -25°F in a damn parking ramp!!!
Yes indeed. They manage to go deeper, heavier than the beginning. This part sounds like a buzz saw cutting through something gnarly. Absolutely crushing!
The most hidden gem of their entire discography. Groovy as FUCK. Heavy as FUCK.
