CEBU, PHILIPPINES - Welcome to Cebu, the capital where you’ll find the best Filipino roast pig, better known as lechon. Today we’re going on an ultimate pig tour to eat the best lechon in the Philippines - maybe the entire world! It’s going to be a day of crispy skin, juicy pork, and the action is going to be insane!
@StanlyonMedia - First of all thank you to my friend Stanly from Stanly On Media - he’s the king of lechon and he’s been to so many lechon spots in and around Cebu so there’s no better person to go on a lechon tour with. Go follow Stanly for many more lechon recommendations in the Philippines: / @stanlyonmedia
Here are all the places we went in this Philippines street food tour:
Gogoes Lechon (goo.gl/maps/dkhyaPNKmyEjjwhu5) - First up is Gogoes lechon located north of Cebu. We arrived at 5 am to see the process of them roasting their lechon. They fill up the belly of the pig with sea salt and a combination of spices that includes ginger and especially green onions. The pigs roast for 3 - 4 hours, carefully being turned as they roast so the skin cooks and crispfies perfectly. It was sensational and a perfect way to start this ultimate Filipino lechon tour. (Price - they wouldn’t charge us)
Ruthy's Lechon (goo.gl/maps/mCwqJYFZiv73MgYQ7) - Next up we headed to Talisay, known as the birthplace of lechon, and where the original lechoneros come from. Stanly first took me to Ruthy’s one of the standards of lechon - packed and they fly through the pigs. We chopped up a 3 kilo belly section of the pig. The skin was insanely crispy, salty, and full of juicy green onions. Price - 2,940 pesos
Lolo Soy's Lechon House - Finally, one of the greatest lechon’s in all of the Philippines, Lolo Soy's Lechon House. They fly through pigs and they had already sold over 20 pigs by the time we arrived. The action is out of control! We ordered a kilo and they also gave us some of the feet, plus some of the blood stew. Price - 750 per kg, we had 1 kg
Paraz Native Lechon (goo.gl/maps/iTpyTW6znqGsyp7J8) - For our last stop on this ultimate Filipino lechon tour we drove down to Carcar, another famous lechon city. We went to Paraz Native Lechon where they sell over 50 pigs a day, and they use native natural pigs. The pigs are still roasted over coals using traditional bamboo skewers. They chop it up, it’s so insanely juicy and then they drizzle on the drippings with all the onions. Additionally, they are known for their chili vinegar, which is some of the best you’ll have anywhere.
This was one of the greatest days of eating pig in my lechon, Cebu lechon really is the king of roast pig!
Thank you again to @StanlyonMedia for taking me on this ultimate tour of the lechon in the Philippines!

@@CaptainPlanet007 100%
@@CaptainPlanet007 you must be white because no one likes american food really. out of all the food cultures there are, american food is the worst.
@@CaptainPlanet007 Well u can say we are proud to be a Filipino how about u?

Puerto Rican here, just wow. Beautiful top tier lechon. It does not get better. Cheers to the Filipino people.
Salamat Po...
I'm a New Yorker and use to have a few friends from the Philippines. Great food, laughter and fun environment. Filipinos really are friendly; lots of experience in the community. They love good food I know that!
I am Puerto Rican, and I absolutely LOVE lechon. ❤️ food brings people together, just like music it's a universal language 🥰
pag sure oi
You must try
Wepa 🇵🇷
He needs to go try it in guavate
You need to do a showdown with their version of the pig roasts.
Mark really is having fun with this one 👍🏼
Looks like a kid really having fun with his life smiling like that ❤️❤️❤️
I’d have even more fun sharing this with PETA and vegans. 😂🐷🤡
Mark is often recognized wherever he goes by a few people. But in the Philippines, Mark is a rock star!!

You guys have amazing energy together.
over acting host
Hi Mark, thanks for visiting the Philippines and tasting our Lechon! Yayyy so yummy!
So happy to see you enjoying lechon! Thank you for coming and featuring the Cebu lechon, here in the Philippines. Kudos!
I had the honor of experiencing Lechon in 1990 at a Philipino birthday party in Houston, Texas, USA back in 1991. The chef removed the head first, and then he carved the little piglet as if it were a loaf of bread. It tasted wonderful!
You must try Cebu's Lechon its heaven😁
Congratulations! Excellent feature on Philippine lechon! And you've got an equally excellent guide, Stanly!!! 👏👏👏
It's really nice seeing two people enjoy a meal together, especially when food is a language you share.
Stanley is the most joyful, positive, energetic, entertaining and enthusiastic person that you have in your show for Philippines. Great job💯
This dude gets as excited as Mark does about food lol! Food besties 🐖 Always makes me smile seeing such happy people doing what they love to do. I gotta make it to the Philippines some day… the people seem so nice and welcoming!
The way people appreciate their own food is tremendous, kudos Mark.
@5:50 that is crazy dedication to your work... flipflop on giant firepit
awww 6:40 aww the guy is so sweet, he keep smiling even tho the camera does not focus him
Watching your Cebu Streetfood series makes me so excited for my vacation next year. I just missed eating all the food that I grew up with. ❤️
imissyu too
Our lechon in Puerto Rico is equally popular. The roadside places look similar, though nut so crowded. I think the big difference is that the lechon is not stuffed. Also, soy sauce is not used to baste, so the skin is not red. Philippines and Puerto Rico--lechon capitals of earth !
If I ever visit The Philippines in near future, I will definitely go to Cebu just to eat lechon !!! mmmmmmmmmmmm sarap !
I love how Stanly matches Mark’s energy 🤣💕
Mark has taken us to heaven in this episode 🤣 40 minutes devoted entirely to lechon (and filmed in the place where it was born) is feeling like an early Christmas gift! Thank you Mark. Can't get over he crackling skin, the juiciness, the stuffing and marinating process, the side dishes... we're getting it all here!
Definitely the king of the roasted pig!
The best Lechon in the world right there.
Happy holidays to all Filipinos around the world!
I played tennis with a group of Filipinos, most of them were Doctors or Engineers and a priest or two. They are the most warm and welcoming of people you could ever meet. Lechon and Fish Balls every week
Now this is the energy u want to have in your co-host! And he also is comfortable in talking to the camera while conversing with Mark. good stuff
I was there!, Mark Wiens is so humble to everyone and i'm so very grateful to meet the one the greatest food vlogger in the world, God bless you always!
Wow Filipinos are really awesome! My parents always talk about the Philippines all the time. Man I wish to be able to go and have some authentic lechon!
Mark, you are always welcome in the Philippines!!! We love anyone who is down-to-earth and willing to try anything like you!
I've always wanted to try lechon..looks soooo bomb!
ive followed your channel since close to day one and it often dawns on me that you have kept it 100% real the entire way through your journey. your parents raised you well!
Ohhhh gosh! One of if not the most pleasurable things to eat in life. The juices. I just recently discovered this in a Filipino market. But nothing like this. Fresh on the roadside. This is as speechless as Mark gets.🔥🔥🔥😋😋😋♥♥😘😘😎
I love the Filipino!!!! So friendly and pleasant. cheers and god bless Phillippines...ok thank you🥰
Thank you Mark for show casing the Philippine lechon. It is incomparable and as good as the Puerto Rican style lechon which I have also tasted while visitng the island and going to Guavate in the past. Your enthusiasm and enjoyment of our lechon will definitely bring the lechon culture of the Philippines to the world stage. God bless and safe travels.
Your genuine passion for food comes naturally and we Filipinos love that. Welcome to the Philippines Mark Weins!
Mark has taken us to heaven in all them episodes, period
You know whats funky? Its orgasmic!
My goshi can’t believe it ,it’s insane! It’s incredibly delicious !
DM me and i will take you church first. Come on
This episode though is filled with Haram
Periodt!!!
I LOVE Mark and his CHILI's! Everytime I watch his video's---no matter where he is---I WAIT. Because I KNOW when he gets the food he will be adding the Chili's to the sauce dipping. It has started me at home to make sure I have these Chili's to the meals I prepare. I can't always use them as he does, I am not as accepting of hot spice---but the times I do I am impressed. Thank You, Mark!
This is so far one among the best food experiences! It made me emotional.
I'm smiling the whole time while watching the whole video. I can see Mark really enjoyed this trip. Thank you so much Mark for featuring Philippines!
Thanks for featuring Filipino cuisine Mark! Love your channel... 👍
I'm.a cebuana Spanish and I can agree that cebu's best lechon are so delicious and yummy and especially in a traditional ways
I'm so glad you shared this. The happiest moments of my childhood were in the Philippines and with Filipinos in the diaspora. Thank you for dredging those memories up for me!
i'm a filipina and being away from Philippines esp this Christmas season makes me feel so homesick! 😢 Thank you Mark for visiting my hometown Cebu and eating my favorite food lechon 😋
Thank you Mark for visiting the Philippines and featuring the lechon!!!Sending us the spirit of Christmas away from home. Cebu lechon is the best!
Great content, Mark. I agree the Cebu region probably has the best-roasted lechon so far in the country where their dipping sauce (vinegar, soy sauce, onions, chili, etc...) differed from some other regions which use liver sauce (pork liver, vinegar, sugar, bread crumbs, onions, garlic, seasoning, etc) which is also very tasty. I prefer the regular vinegar + soy sauce + chili for my dip and I use the liver sauce to mix my rice :). Although the topic is roasted lechon, You (Mark) should have tasted the "Lechon Paksiw" which is just a left-over lechon cooked in vinegar, soy sauce, onions, laurel leaves, etc... where you don't need a Chef ...just regular Auntie or Grandma or any person who cooks adobo. Eat it with steamy evenly cooked rice and you will have a different experience.
I am here in South Africa.. missing that lechon in Philippines crispy outside and soo tasty inside 😋 yum 😋
And yet another Philippines episode! Blessed Christmas indeed to all and of all places to celebrate, in the Philippines! Thanks Mark and team!
The ohs and wows show how much they enjoyed this round.
I didn’t know Mark could ever find someone to match his energy while eating…but he did!
Absolutely delicious, proud Filipino here.
Hello, the way that when both of you react eating the lechion is very infectious wherein while I am watching I felt the scrumptious fondness. Thank you to both of you for very good delivered the authenticity of both reaction. 👏👏👏
Beast mode 27:13 all three in one bite! You’ve won the hearts of the Filipinos around the world!
Im just smiling the whole video. Im a proud cebuana. CEBU LECHON is the BEST. Thank you Mark for featuring the sensational lechon in Philippines! Lechon is part of our celebrations here in Philippines.
Where is this in cebu?
You should evolve your thoughts. In a just world this aint right. This is what they probably eat in hell. Why the f would you eat animals in this manner. Look at them screaming 😢
Mark Wiens, you are a legend!!! Thank you for visiting Cebu. God bless and take care always.
Love seeing so many other people who adore Lechon like I do 😂 I'm only here watching the whole video because I was lucky enough to buy some authentic Lechon today, and I would be craving it if I started watching Mark Wiens eating it 😅😊
You truly dig the gems of Cebu City. Thanks Mark for sharing Filipino great foodies.
Mark, your partner is so friendly. One of your best videos ever. Greetings from Brazil.
The absolute legend of food travel vloggers. Thank you Mark for the inspiration to create Drew's Travels, documenting province life in the Philippines. God bless you 🙏
Cheers Mark for helping to support Drew's Travels, you are a legend, a true inspiration.
i love the vibe that stanly brings, hoping for more colab.
Stanly has such a positive vibe just like Mark. This episode is so dope!
As long as the Lechon is tender, it’s good. Flavor varies from different provinces. Plus, the skin should be crispy with a texture as thin as the sugar glaze and is not hard to your gums. Most especially, juicy. No sauce needed. Just plain 90% lean, 10% skin and fat
Stanley was amazing too. That man was smiling and looked so happy. Mark once again amazing video. Makes me want to travel to Philippines for a lot of lechon.
I miss my Cebu… so happy for you Mark, Cebu Lechon is so delicious 😋
There’s a big difference between rotisserie lechon vs oven cooked lechon. Rotisserie wins every time. The rotation helps spread the flavor all over the pig where as in the oven it just sits in the bottom of the pig’s stomach
Thank you for featuring and appreciating the street foods in Cebu. I'm from Cebu and I can see that you are enjoying our iconic and world class food, the lechon. I hope you will come back to explore more of our Cebuano delicacies.
thank you for coming on our country and happy new year enjoy your journey
This is by far one of my favorite videos! I’ve had Puerto Rican style lechon (pernil) and Hawaiian style lechon (kalua) and Mexican carnitas but I’ve got to try Filipino lechon!!! ❤
when you go to the philippines make sure to try lechon in cebu island since it has the best lechon in the country.
Yes he's right.im from Cebu.and I live near to that first place they feature the Gogoes Lechon here in Liloan Cebu.one of the best there is.
Those "sea grapes" are available here in Arkansas supermarkets in a little jar and it looks like caviar, but is absolutely tasteless that way. I would love to try the fresh ones on the stems. The enzymes in the shredded papaya are necessary for proper and safe digestion of the pig. Substitute pineapple or kiwi for the enzymes.
The sea grapes are definitely way better fresh. They’re usually harvested in the morning and sold in markets that same day.
Good stuff!
I bet those sea grapes are already limp, slimey, and popped. You definitely should try them fresh. It's so fun to pop them in your mouth.
We usually go during low tide to find those (molluscs and sea urchins as well), then find a sand bar or bunch of rocks to sit in, take out our rice, and dip those sea grapes on the spiced coconut vinegar dip we bring with us. There are spicy varieties of the sea grapes as well.
On It's own, sea grapes are actually kinda tasteless, but if you get them fresh from the sea, the taste the ocean enhances the flavor. Slimey but not the disgusting kind of slimey.
@@iagreewithyou3478 No. Neither limp, slimey, or popped. Not even salty! I think my problem is that I expected them to taste like seawater at least. But no.
@@notmyworld44 oh at least the texture is preserved. Most of what I saw that's bottled/canned have already shriveled up haha I suggest just preparing a vinegar dip for it, with salt, sugar, garlic, chili, and onions. It really doesn't have much flavor on its own. Perfect side dish for grilled fish or meat.
Well done Mr. Wiens for supporting new youtubers with something to share. Even more relevant for me as I used to live in Cebu. Hope all is well and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays.
From your Chef/Fan in Southend on Sea, UK.
Love the way you eat.. Sooo appreciative.. Thank you for visiting Cebu!!
Love watching your videos….I go for a while, then binge watch….thanks so much for all you and time… I enjoy you and your family….God bless…..
Im craving for LECHON .. i miss Philippines.. happy to see you Mark in our country. ❤
This is one of the best from Mark...the levels of enjoyment of pork were beyond!!! A true celebration of pork 💕💕
I miss Philippines 🇵🇭 Thanks for coming Mark and enjoying Filipino food especially Lechon.
I really admire Mark how you describe the taste of the food you eat... My salute to your vlogs!
The fulfillment I get watching you enjoy the experience and the culture, while interacting with people of same passion is truly inspiring.
The guy walked on coals in flip flops, that's gangster.
noticed that also 😅
Same .. noticed that too. Haha
It’s pure talent tho. 😂
My first time to watch a food reviews of a parade of different lecheon locations in Cebu…You are the best of the best Mark.. Thank you Sir…
the friendly gesture in the background @14:42 just shows how amazing the vibes are here :)
Mark… this absolutely the best thing. To be able to travel and be happy and eat delicious food is truly a blessing. Thanks for sharing your adventurous life.
I feel like the Cebu tours was a dishonor: besides the lower class areas you could’ve also shown the majestic coporate scenes & commercial restaurant establishments that shows the true power of Cebu. The warm hearts of Cebuanos that welcomed you unconditionally needs more tourists like you to get more jobs. Hopefully next time YOU COME BACK and cover all of that.
Your videos are good vibes. Feels joyful everytime.
Proudly Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭. Atu ni Bai!
i love Stanley's energy and enthusiasm!!!! it's contagious!
Watching Mark enjoying the savory and juicy taste of lechon, seems like he is breaking down on how delicious it is. Hahahhahaa but you could feel how it is rly yummy by his reactions and it rly made me smile all the time. Hahaha
Mark and Stanley, the Lechon duo, thank you for a mouth watering video and this was fate in the making, will be coming to Cebu for the first time this December and will hopefully do a breakfast at Parras Native Lecho.... Kudos to the both of you, both of you make eating such a pleasure of life
Mark I’ve been a huge fan here in cebu I’ve been watching all of your videos ever since and I’m so proud that you came here and visit our local street food and our delicacies. Keep it up man❤️❤️❤️ with love from cebu city queen city of the south😍
Here is what I am going to say....when you have PERFECT Pig Recipes you cannot go wrong. Thank You, Mark for PERFECTION! Pig and Lamb are my favorite meats when done properly. And particularly in the regions you visit. The Skin on this Pig is FANTASTIC! I watch you EVERYDAY and you NEVER fail! Looking forward to the next 5 years of visiting where you lead me! I will keep you apprised of my cities and countries where you lead me....Thank You!
I am so full just watching these guys eat. I want to take a nap for them.
Hi, Mark! You are really amazing. I love how you make the food even more delicious just by your facial expression. We are still hoping for Ying to have her own youtube chanel really soon... We love you... Just another Filipino fan from Thailand...
Thank you for showing our culture in the world. . . I wish u will back again and show some place that u ever been discover 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lechon? Looks so delicious. ❤ (roasted and toasted yum)
Good thing you've come together with food enthusiast. Been in the Philippines! I hope you also had a great experience there
Whenever Mark show this kind of videos, I have to have food infront of me to eat hehehe his face expression makes me drool 🤣🤣🤣thank you Mark...for loving Philippines food❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lol, why are you thinking him for loving something? Lol, that isnt something needed to do, he cant help it if he loves Philippines' food lol, just because the narrative is saying bad stuff about it doesnt mean its some thing that a person is "being nice" if they actually like it, which outside of the loud vocal minority, most do.
Mark’s facial reaction everytime . lol It makes me so want Lechon right now. 😁
the best thing about Cebu Lechon is that u really dont need any sauce as it's flavourful on its own😋😋😋
love seeing Mark enjoying Cebu Lechon ❤️
I was smiling the whole time I watched this episode! I hope you enjoyed my motherland Mark! Much love from British Columbia
You inspired me Mark in starting my youtube in exploring foods. Keep it up!hope i will meet u one day
Thanks for sharing this video.just reminds us that simple life can be great, having less but happy.spending time with your love ones is priceless.keep on vlogging and we’ll support you.
Mark makes me wanna go back home with this lechon episode! It’s been 5 years already without eating pinas lechon, Lechon here in the states really taste different. See you next year Philippines 😂😂
