i made this lemon curd for the first time last night..currently eating it from the jar 😅 i put half the sugar but it was still really sweet - i think it's bc the lemons from my backyard are super sweet!! nevertheless I'm really enjoying it 😍😍 thanks for this lovely recipe ♡♡♡
Thank you for the recipe! I just made it and can't wait to try it once it cools down. Very easy to follow your instructions. I'll look through your other videos too!
Just bright & beautiful and I love lemon curd so much but I’ve always been so intimidated to make it myself but I just got some lemons from my mom that I really need to use so what the heck or why not. TYSM
Amazing! sounds delish! Can’t wait to make this and your cake. Question. You don’t add cornstarch ? I was under the impression that curd was made using cornstarch. Will be waiting for an answer. Thank you! X
Best way to eat lemon curd is straight from the jar! When making recipes that only use half an egg (like lemon curd with just the yolk, or macarons with just the white), do you bake something else simultaneously to use up the rest of the egg, or just discard it? Or can the yolk/white be refrigerated until a later time?
It is soooo good straight from the jar. I know some people save their egg whites. I’m not sure how they long they would be ok to keep though. Personally my extras go to my 4 legged friends. 😊
I know I'm 2 years late but I do my egg whites with sauteed spinach and onions for breakfast. Yes you can store them but I wouldn't recommend refrigerating longer than 2 days. The taste changes.
I know I'm 4 years late to the party but maybe will help someone else. I make homemade macarons with the whites and curd with the yolks. If you're not fussy about perfect macarons then they're easy to make - they're still delicious if they crack or are not perfectly shaped.
Hello, Thank you for the great video. I made the lemon curd and I triple the ingredients. It taste good but when I placed it in the refrigerator for like 6 hours it’s still runny but taste good. Is there anything I can do to stiffen it up. Again I tripled the ingredients. I hope I was able to do so 😊
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that! It may have just needed to cook a little bit longer. I'm not sure if you could reheat it, but it could be worth a shot. It might curdle it though.
Hi Sam...Can I add a bit of corn starch to make a bit thicker as I would like to add it to my buttercream? If yes. how much cornstarch would you recommend?
It has to do with the way that it is thickened and the ingredients used. The eggs are the thickener here in the curd, but in puddings, typically, cornstarch is used as the thickener. Curd is going to be a bit tangy while your pudding is typically going to be sweeter. :)
@@SugarSpunRun I wouldn’t say thick, but the finger test was successful. Anyway, my recipe box is full of sugar spun recipes and people rave about your cookies and cakes. I always direct them to your channel. This is only my second fail. The first was my fault for thinking I could substitute a random bakery bread for challah bread. I had never heard of challah bread and didn’t know what it was. Thank you so much for your clear, direct instructions. Baking days are the best days…just ask my husband! p.s. My dog loves it when I cook up unused egg whites for him.
You can make meringues, my funfetti cake, my angel food cake, I see you have found my lemon cake that uses just egg whites. I hope one of these will work for you. :) ua-cam.com/video/PA78ZjLQ6Ys/v-deo.html sugarspunrun.com/funfetti-cake-scratch/ ua-cam.com/video/bq-JyXkZT_k/v-deo.html

Nope, no cornstarch here 😊

Up to 2 weeks in an air tight container. :)
Love your recipe.

I have a pretty big list in my blog post about the many different uses for it. 😀 sugarspunrun.com/lemon-curd-recipe/

Can you do a vanilla frosting recipe? I'm trying to find a good one
I actually have one. I only have a Facebook style video for it, but here is the link to my page: sugarspunrun.com/vanilla-frosting-recipe/

Can this curd be used as filling for a lemon meringue pie? Can I double the recipe? 🍋
I'm not sure how it would go for a lemon meringue pie. It would be pretty tart, but you can double the recipe. :)
Can we replace the lemons with limes? Thank you!
That should work just fine here. 😊
Fresh Lemon Curd on yummy Orange-Cranberry Scones & a nice cuppa 🙃‼️
Oh yes! So good ❤
Love that enameled pot
HI sam can you double this or is it better to make 2 batches? Thanks so much.
You could make this in a double batch without issues. :)
Thank you so much
How long can it stay in the fridge? Thank you for sharing
It will last a week or so unless you go through the process of canning it. 😃
Hi Sam...Can I add a bit of corn starch to make a bit thicker as I would like to add it to my buttercream? If yes. how much cornstarch would you recommend?
Hi Sue! You could, but it thickens significantly as it cools. I think you'd be fine without it! 🙂
@@SugarSpunRun Thank you so much.

my curd didnt set can it be re cooked and will it thicken then
Unfortunately I'm not sure how that will work. :(
@Sugar Spun Run it actually worked out great
Sorry, another question:
Can you substitute the sugar with honey? Txs
Hmm I haven't tried it. Honey can burn easily when cooking so that would be my only concern. If you do try it I would love to know how it goes. 😃
Sam, what did I do wrong? It’s the next morning and my lemon curd is lemon water. I did the spoon finger test. Thanks.
Hmmm so it was thick yesterday, but thinner today? That's odd I have never had that happen. :(
@@SugarSpunRun I wouldn’t say thick, but the finger test was successful. Anyway, my recipe box is full of sugar spun recipes and people rave about your cookies and cakes. @@SugarSpunRunsecond attempt. Success! It is delicious and I cannot wait to make the lemon cake to layer it in tomorrow morning.
Tried making curd for the first time and it has this metallic taste, what did I do wrong? Help!!! Can it be fixed? All advice is accepted 🥺🥺🥺🥺
O no! I’m not sure it can be fixed. If you let it cool in the saucepan this can happen if your pot is reactive. 😔
Do you have to use butter? Seems like I used it when I made curd once and it was too buttery. It lost it's "fruity" flavor.
This lemon curd is still tart and very lemony, even with the butter. I suggest you give my recipe a try! 😊
@2:52 did she said "I'm going to dis'CURD this"? Power move if you ask me :)

That sounds awesome! 😊
6 egg yolks?!? Would it affect it too much to add less egg?
Absolutely. It will not turn out properly
Ok thanks! I don't know much about baking and I just got into it 😅 But your recipes are amazing 😃
I made this today but for some reason it tastes very eggy 😫
Oh no! The eggs can get a scrambled flavor if the curd is heated over too high of a temperature or too quickly 🙁
Can it still be use@@SugarSpunRun
