  • Handy link to these alarms on Amazon: amzn.to/2sQhJOc I needed a relatively cheaply priced window alarm for my sliding glass door. This works perfectly.
    I like:
    Easy installation. No wires.
    Included batteries.
    SUPER loud.
Doesn't go off when I use the sliding glass (patio) door. Even light knocking doesn't make it go off.
DOES go off if someone hits the door hard (like to break it).
    I don't like:
Seems somewhat pricey for what you get. I guess (?) there's a lot of technology built into this, but the weight and quality feels as if it's a device made in China. Still, I guess it's cheaper than having ADT send a technician out, charge you, and then charge you $60/month for ongoing security!
If the burglar knows how to disarm it, he can in 5 seconds. Obviously the neighbors will be awake, if you're fortunate enough to live near neighbors. But it's not going to slow down a smart burglar if he can access it. If you live in a high-crime neighborhood, get a motion detector alarm too (for inside your house, once they get in).
    5/5 stars. Love it.

I looked this up cause a paranoid senile old fool I'm stuck living with bought several. I might not have to worry about them going off based off this so that is a bit reassuring. Great way you did this with the testing

you probably need to have it installed the way it's designed for the added sensitivity

mombie06 glad you mentioned doors cause that's one of places I intend to use. One going off should probably rattle nerves...imagine a second, third etc. Plus I intend on adding an additional, completely different system they'll have to find. Thanks for info

I used these on windows for 8 years. work great. Not sure about the sliding door use. They do go off loud in the window is bumped or tapped.

I have these. I read a review that said the door can be opened without these going off, so i tested them and they didn't. So i got some Doberman contact alarms, when the door is opened they go off. So i have both on doors and windows.

I’m so glad I watched this video bc I was searching for an alarm that barks like a big dog. They should change the name.

I've had 6 of these installed on my windows and they are rubbish. They work couple of months but don't like the cold nor humidity and condensation you get on the windows when is cold outside and will just die..! Tried to replace batteries and didn't work anymore. Absolutely rubbish for long use full stop!

you can set the sensitivity level in some models

    • @lukeshill5694

Do you mind linking me to a model where I can set the sensitivity? I have cats and I don't want the alarm to go off when they paw at the window. Only if the window is hit hard or even broken. Thanks in advance.

I've had 2 alarms go off for no reason at all.... anyone else & how do you resolve the problem?

  • @chodkowski01

Home Depot has them 2 for $11. Mine are so bad that I thought that would go off and save me the money and hassle of replacing a window but for mine to go off someone has to break the window and it will fall to the ground setting it off. I won’t be buying anymore. Now the Doberman motion sensor I would buy more of those.

We are looking for something to keep our autistic child in the house. Not going off when the window is opened doesn't really keep them in. So close.

If it was flat on the glass instead of just that tape it would probably work better.

Mine is an American Akita one and it does a much better job.. i have a similar one by a different manufacturer it works well.. i have it for the burglars sake..

MOST burglars won't try to break the glass seeing that breaking glass will cause a good deal of noise. They will probably try to open a window or glass door with grace, in which this device is completely USELESS! Although this video was very good. Thnx!

    • @Azreal357
      @Azreal357 7 років тому +8

Agreed, but the "...with grace..." part of that is not plausible unless the window/door is already unlocked. Unless they are using a lock pick on a door most break-ins require a great deal or jostling, wiggling, or thumping. All of which would likely set off an alarm.

Luis Manzano It's a deterrent for the most part. Many burglars break glass to get in to homes, fastest way in if they don't find open windows. Can also be used in other things, like doors, where the attempted break-in will set off the alarm. Real alarm systems that call a security company that alerts police, are useless. Out of all the times my home security system went off the fastest the police have responded was 40 minutes.

if you have a window that opens on the bottom & not the top, best to stick it on the top glass. thieves use glass cutters to cut a small hole so they can open your latch.

If you adhere these in the correct place, I.e on the glass but near the framework and or lock/handle of your window or door, anyone attempting to pry open the window or door or mess around with your locks will create more then enough movement/vibration to trigger the alarm, even without breaking the glass. A great additional deterrent for little cost.

This is not sensitive enough to vibration. The thief can slowly open the sliding window or brake it. I ain't buying this.

The reason the window alarm is high price is because it's from China! It won't last long, but hopefully long enough.
