Lovesexy is my favourite because of the album videos and that summer 88 alphabet street and glam slam played in the discos plus attending a Lovesexy tour concert my first Prince one. I think purple rain and SOTT albums are better but Lovesexy is the one that means more to me because of my life experiences that year. Best year of my life.
When I first listened to Dorthy Parker I thought he was copying Sly’s Family Affair and Housequake was James Brown. “it” was very very similar to an Art of Noise song I can’t recall now…
My favorite run is Dirty Mind to Purple Rain. The first 3 albums are mostly solo. As time progresses, he starts involving other people in more songs. We even get a cut crediting 3 Revolution members playing on Jack U Off. That rise to glory was amazing. Plus Controversy is the most slept on album in his career. You see the growth in his image. When he sings Darling Nikki, when he pulls his eye cover down, it even looks like the red bandana he'd wear around his neck during Dirty Mind. Plus the stage during Computer Blue/Darling Nikki is the Controversy/1999 set. This dude was so calculating
@@Cormac-jd2kx the whole band is credited for playing on it. I've seen Prince play drums. No way on God's green earth did he play the drums on Dance On. I saw Sheila play it before her drum solo at the Lovesexy Tour and it sounded identical.
@@avace917I know but I mean that it was all composed by him. All the ideas. He told them what to play. The albums with the Revolution had band members ideas or at least is what they say
@@Cormac-jd2kx a solo record means he did everything on it including playing. Hence, it's not a solo record. He'd have to have played everything on the record for me to consider it a Prince solo record. We can agree to disagree, but as a musician, that's important to me. I stand on it
