I cried for 2 weeks straight when prince died, the swag, coolness he had was from out of this world, he was a game changer, funky soulful cat with so much sauce, inspired me since a kid
One of my favourite artists ever, Frank Zappa, was one of the first one in the frontlines against this sort of censorship and ratings you see now-a-days and he specifically defended this song multiple times and it's really worth the while to see him and others fight against industry bullshit.
Fun fact. John Denver testifying before congress on behalf of bands like N.W.A. and 2 Live Crew is probably the single most important reason why we only have warning labels instead of full on government censorship. That man, and the others who fought that fight are truly legends. (just read the other comments) Frank Zappa is also on the list of legends...thank you for reminding me @yaboyegreja7750
The amazing thing about that "The Beautiful Ones " track is thats a one man band song. He's playing every instrument. Wendy said he did it one night . The band left that night and when they came in the next morning he was like check this out .
The amount of work he completed before the age of 30 is just mind blowing…we were so blessed to grow up with Prince. And to see him live was pure fire!!! 🔥He was one of a kind, ahead of his time, and there will never be another! Thank you for spreading the purple love! 💜💜💜
You got a fan in me brother 👌🏾🤌🏾‼️ Prince is an absolute legend and he should get his flowers 🌹🌷 every chance he gets 💯‼️ The movie reaction would be too dope‼️
If you study prince and his music he is a master class in musicianship and performance. You have to see his live joints. I would start with live in montruex
Yo youngblood Prince is very respected by musicians and rappers. Thank you for acknowledging the GOAT. NAS wanted to do a song with him and prince asked him if he owned his masters. Nas said no. Prince said when you do call me because i would rather put your kids through college than the music execs. Pimp hand was strong with prince. FACTS
The other great thing about this, with the remastered album, there are remixes and extended versions of all these songs. The "Let's Go Crazy" extended is a masterclass of it's own, and the Hallway version of "Computer Blue" is a five-part podcast.
I discovered Prince in 1981 and became a HARDCORE fan in 1982 with the release of the "1999" album. I was 20 years old when this monumental album & film landed in 1984. It was like an EARTHQUAKE for my generation. PRINCE FOREVER 💜
Have you ever watched the movie Purple Rain? You would absolutely love it. All these songs are played live on stage within the storyline, with Prince & the Revolution being 'the Kid" and his band. You're right, we were so lucky growing up in the 70s & 80s, I became a Prince fan the minute I heard his first album in ~1979, when I was in middle school. I went to the movie Purple Rain so many times I knew every line of dialogue. I saw the Purple Rain tour twice in high school, it was beyond amazing. I had all his albums up to and including this one on vinyl, as they were released, then later albums on tape. Thanks for your album review!
If you want to get into more Prince react to his most popular albums Sign of the the times (his next biggest after purple rain) The Gold Experience Musicology Diamonds and pearls
Peep Game Young Brother, Prince Rogers Nelson played 27 instruments- SELF TAUGHT!!! Every song you hear from him, he’s playing every instrument, obviously laying tracks over each other, because he knew his Music would last forever, and didn’t trust anyone else with his Art! He’s the Best
If you watch the movie you will follow how the music makes the story. Enjoy! Prince was only 24 and he was a music prodigy. Oh! He played drums also. He was the only musician to have an album, a single and movie all top of the charts at once.
Prince pretty much had no equal. Had the please of seeing him live about 15 times over the years in all kinds of venues. Easily top to bottom the best recording artist and live performer I have ever seen! Do yourself a favor and check out some of his l concert footage floating around here in UA-cam. You will be amazed and come to the same conclusions just about everyone in the business came to.
His time period is now as well. Not sure if you are aware of this but he owns the top 2 slots for live performances in the 21st century with his 2004 performance of while my guitar gently at rock and roll hall of fame and 2007 Super Bowl halftime show. Also of note, prince put Lizzo on. He put Danileigh on. Janelle monae , ballerina misty. Copeland. , was supposed to be on Kendrick pimp a butterfly album but they simply ran out of time and the brightest star HER will tell u where she derives her inspiration. He was peerless then and now
Prince and Michael Jackson respected each other.Tremendously Al the other stuff is a media thing.I didn't Mike eacher. That's a bunch of bologna. When Mike died Prince locked himself in a room for 3 days. And that has come from people very close. When Mike died, 50% of music left us then Prince left the other 50% left.
not to start this MJ vs Prince feud again...but this is sush a great record and thriller realy dont come close to it musicly...but you should never underrestemate the poor taste of the masses....
This album was a patt of the soundtrack of my life! I was smiling from ear to ear during this trip down memory lane.I was even in a Prince cover band in HS. I played keys and background vocals, so you know how deep in the zone I was. Yeah, we performed in some places, too. Now then, i heard you mention that you would listen to his music even if there was no vocal. Well, he's got you covered there, too! Check out Madhouse's albums 8 and 16. These are albums of his music with his version of Funk-infused Jazz. The band is composed of Levi Seacer, Jr, Atlanta Bliss, Eric Leeds, and John Lewis. I'll only give you this one warning, STRAP IN!!!
I agree with everyone asking you to react to the movie. That would be awesome. There are few albums that I can listen to start to finish without skipping one track. Purple Rain - and many other Prince albums fit into that category for me. He was the best to ever do it. There will never be another like him. Thank you for keeping his legacy alive 💜💜💜
You should continue reacting to more Prince or looking in your own time, I’ve gone down the purple rabbit hole and am a huge fan now! Prince is a one of a kind that made people feel music differently 💜
Sadly, many Prince videos from the 80's are shortened due to MTV not wanting to broadcast videos longer than 3min30. But "Automatic" is a (very explicit) exception due to the fact it was only on air at night.
Purple Rain is a commercial success album. If you want to know more about Prince start with his debut album "For You" then his second album "Prince" you'll enjoy it. Listen to his albums in order "For You", "Prince", "Dirty Mind", "Controversy", "1999" and listen to his album after PR like "Around the World in a Day", "Parade" and Sign O The Times and his later albums in the 90s and 2000s.
I cried for 2 weeks straight when prince died, the swag, coolness he had was from out of this world, he was a game changer, funky soulful cat with so much sauce, inspired me since a kid
Fun fact. Darling Nikki is the reason parental advisory stickers eventually wound up on album covers
One of my favourite artists ever, Frank Zappa, was one of the first one in the frontlines against this sort of censorship and ratings you see now-a-days and he specifically defended this song multiple times and it's really worth the while to see him and others fight against industry bullshit.
There were 14 others that contributed to that
Prince and Twisted Sister... menaces to society! lol

If you enjoyed this album, you ABSOLUTELY need to do the 1999 album.
This is the first album I ever had. 12 years old got it for Christmas from my parents on cassette. I almost wore it out,

Oh yea. Listen to the outro vamp on purple rain. That little keyboard riff became a hit song for Alicia keys. If I never see you again
