I have been a fan of the American Bulova watches since I was gifted a 1947 model in 1968. My grandmother bought it new in the late 40s to give to my grandfather but she died before his birthday and never got to give it to him. He wouldn't wear it so when he died in the mid 1960s it was just another item in his estate. My father gifted it to me, a twenty year old watch that had never been worn. I gifted it to my son who inherited watch collecting from me. But I have bought a couple of the same model Bulova watches over the years. One I gifted back to my father for his 90th birthday. And I always keep a Bulova in my collection. I really like the Precisionist watches but I think my next Bulova will be their moon watch.
Love the story! And the Lunar Pilot is a fantastic watch as well. Although they don't label the movement "Precisionist" as such... The Lunar Pilot is still a 262kHz movement.

Seriously considering the blue dial as a dressier alternative to my blue dial Curv chronograph. Didn’t know the sweep movement was there until seeing it on TGV. Thanks for a concise balanced review. Now a subscriber.

I bought the gold version. I love it.
Amazing release by Bulova. Great to see them utilize this movement in more releases. The price seems fair and it's a unique aesthetic. If it only had 100M water resistance it would've been unbeatable.

I’m getting the green, but I would love a black lacqured dial.
For me the watch looks great. The quartz movement on this watch is 8 times more accurate than a normal quartz watch. If I was to get one, I would get the blue dial one. Currently I’m got my eye on the “Jet Star” with gold tone dial, anther precisionist watch.
I think the blue dial will definitely be the fan favorite. And really, you can't go wrong with the Jet Star either. Same great movement, an awesome size and a more modern take on a classic, rather than a reissue. I have them both and love them both. Tough choice!

These are cool although I always feel a fluted bezel is too attention-grabbing for me. They look good, though, and I like the dial choices. I also liked the Jet Star line, particularly the butterscotch. Bulova is keeping my attention these days, though I still only have one of theirs (my beloved Lunar Pilot - ref. 96B258). If they keep doing these releases, there _will_ be a watch that I can't resist. I love to see more interesting HAQ options out there, especially in the "affordable" (< $1K) segment where the overwhelming majority of buyers are. I don't think the movement can move forward or back in 1-hour steps w/o interrupting timekeeping, which would be a great feature for DST changes and travel. It's awesome as-is though, for the accuracy & the ultra smooth sweep of the second hand.
I used to think a fluted bezel was too flashy as well. But this watch has changed my mind. I think it makes the watch and if it were a smooth bezel, it wouldn't be quite right. That said... The Jet Star line is very near and dear to my heart. (If you don't know the story, watch our "Jet Star Mania" episode) I am fortunate enough, that I don't have to choose between them because that would be a very tough call! I do like the idea of a true traveler GMT Precisionist movement... That might be an idea we have to bring up to the brand 🤔😁

I'm one of the lucky ones that have original square Super Seville Day-date and as much as I hate that I'm not gonna be one of the cool kids with a toy that nobody else has I gotta admit they did a good job with this re-release and it will make a lot of folks that messaged me for years to sell my watch very happy. It is not a straight up copy, new watch is few mm wider, flutiness of the bezel seems to be a tiny bit fatter and the bracelet is not exactly the same as mine which is much more Rolex president bracelet like. Vertical dial pattern is my only gripe tho, sunburst or just a plain glossy dial with no pattern would be much better imo.
They should've contacted me before the release and sent me all three watches and I would give them my pointers. I was the biggest fanboy of the square Super Seville after all, plastering that watch all over the web for years. I know they know me and I'm 100% sure they got the idea of re-releasing just because they saw all the hundreds of my pics of that watch posted by me and thousands of people asking where they can get it. Not cool Bulova, not cool. Although I am deeply hurt I would accept an apology in the form of those three watches free of charge😬You know where to find me on IG, ball is in your court🧐

The Precisionist movements aren’t that heavy, so it’s probably similar to the JetStars

Hope for other colors. Very cool.
Usually the European market will get a different colorway than what we have in the U.S., but it seems we are the only ones to get this watch. But I would imagine we should see another color or two in the future.
Me too! I agree that a gold tone face on the watch would’ve looked way better. Even black could’ve worked. 🤷🏻♂️

This watch has a lot going for it - that smooth Grand Seiko Sprig Drive sweep for a start. But there's a couple of marks against it. 1. 30M Waterproof - that is basically a joke - a walk in the rain could destroy it! 2. The lume is pathetic! I would love to see a "President" version of this - day shown either at 12 or 6. Plus 100M waterproof. That would be the bees knees!

The cyclop doesn't line up perfectly straight with the date window and i cannot unser it. I so wish it simply wasn't there. Probably a deal breaker for me.
I’ve the gold one and the dial is champagne color and not like the way it shows on the website which is more like off white.
Oh really? That's good to hear! I've yet to see the gold case in person, but I'm glad to hear it comes across differently in person

I'll be the first to admit, the cyclops is not for everyone.
Why is Bulova's water resistance always so low? 30 meters? It's obviously trying to give off a Rolex vibe.
"Always" is a pretty general statement. The Super Seville is not meant to be an adventure watch, so you really don't need much more than "splash resistant" ratings. If you want a good size classic looking watch with a higher water resistance that isn't a dive watch, with a Precisionist movement... Then look at the Jet Star lineup. Those are rated at 50M. Plenty suitable for your relaxing days in the pool.
Unfortunately, I cannot order them from the Bulova official page in the US. Does anyone know of a source where I can buy one? I'm located in Hungary.
Unfortunately, to the best of our knowledge... There is no distribution of these watches outside of the U.S. market. Not yet at least 🤞🏻

That is a nice looking watch. How is the bracelet sized? You had a screwdriver while talking. I hope it is screws.
Bracelet has standard push pin links. Bulova has really upped their game recently with their bracelets, so even with the pins, they fit and feel solid.

Really? That's probably the best, most accurate movement you can buy without spending thousands more on a certified movement. I'm curious what you don't like about it?

Except this isn't an entry level movement. This is just shy of the Grand Seiko 9F movement. This level of quality and accuracy at this price point is fantastic.
@@aldof.2966Miyota as an entry level movement as well. But the Precisionist is in the HPQ arena, so outside entry level. Doesn’t qualify as HAQ because it doesn’t have thermocompensation, but the movements can fall within HAQ parameters.
30m WR is unforgivable

@@sonnyooo338 Disagree. The accuracy alone on this Super Seville poos on that Citizen. The citizen features an entry movement. With the Bulova, you're getting non-certified chronometer accuracy on the cheap.
30m of WR on a dress piece is more than amble. My Seiko daydate homage has less WR and never experienced water or moisture ingress. Maintain the seals and you'll be fine. Besides, who takes a dress piece into the ocean, pool, shower, or sauna, noobs?

@@jaer.6540 Noob energy on display. An integrated bracelet does not, by default, make a watch a "sports watch" nor a "dressy-sports watch." 100ft of WR is only opposed by inexperienced noobs.

Everyone loving on this watch never mention the FACT that its not WR enough. Even a big sweat or washing your hands might kill it. For a 1000 wash having such mediocre WR is not forgivable.
