Citizen Tsuyosa Small Seconds vs Bulova Watch: Super Seville Reissue
We take a deep dive into the recently released 2024 Bulova Super Seville Reissue, featuring the innovative Precisionist movement known for its exceptional accuracy (seconds per year!) and smooth sweeping second hand. We compare it to the popular Citizen Tsuyosa Small Seconds, a classic automatic with a modern twist.
While both offer automatic movements at attractive prices, they cater to different styles. The Bulova boasts high-tech precision with a vintage-inspired design, while the Citizen Tsuyosa delivers a more traditional automatic experience with a bold aesthetic.
I break down their designs, features, specifications, and overall value to help you decide: is the high-accuracy Bulova Super Seville Reissue your perfect timepiece, or does the Citizen Tsuyosa's automatic heart win you over?

I honestly can't decide 😵 I like the idea of have a robust quartz piece as a nice little grab n go, always set, sweeping hands. But you're 100% right about that dial, and the quality of the finishing really is way better on the Citizen Tsuyosa than the Bulova

  • @johnvandeven2188

No question, the Bulova wins hands down. Ahh.....that sweeping hand just does it for me. The shape, dial colour and bracelet integration is a near exact match to my 1978 Seiko quartz given to me for my 21st. Yes it is old like me and it still runs as it should. BTW Bulova is owned by Citizen as well as Arnold & Son, Frederique Constant, Alpina, Campanola and La Joux Perret.

    Saludos!

Been looking forward to this video!
I mentioned this before but since Citizen owns Bulova, I really hope they can make the best of of both worlds. A Citizen dial with the precisionist movement would be a dream come true! If they can somehow make solar power from their Eco-drive line sufficient enough to power a continuous sweep, they've got a winner on their hands I feel!

    • @WatchReviewRewind
      @WatchReviewRewind  2 місяці тому +2

oh yeah absolutely! I'd buy that in a heartbeat. They have sort of something similar with their Super Titanium Line. I think that's citizen's response to Grand Seiko. +/- 5 Secs Per Year, Eco Drive, and the Dials are gorgeous. AND Titanium. But no sweeping hand. They're pricey too like 4k+. For that money you might as well buy a Grand Seiko

This Super Seville is a pretty cool watch, and it can be compared, as price point and style, to the popular auto PRX from Tissot.
Bulova is owned by Citizen as well. So it's a win for Citizen regardless of the choice.
Citizen is awesome and has great watches at any price point, they even own brands like Arnold and Son, a high horology brand.
Not to mention that they provide movements and parts to a big part of the watch industry.
But cannot compare the Spring Drive with a high frequency quartz movement. Spring Drive is a mechanical movement with a quartz oscilator, but no battery needed. This is a quartz movement operated by a battery.
The quartz movement of GS is accurate to 10 seconds a year as well, just doesn't have a smooth sweep of the seconds hand.
It's easier to be accurate with a quartz movement, as essentially it just translates the energy from the battery, when a mechanical movement has more elements through which it translates and controls the energy.

    • @WatchReviewRewind

For me it's a question of would I rather tolerate a small seconds or a cyclops. In all but the highest end watches, the cyclops lens is glued to the crystal. I'm waiting for someone to hit the Bulova with a heat gun and take that sucker off before I decide.

Bulova wins here with deeper history and the far more unique movement. Citizen makes great watches, but cheap bracelets and uninspiring movements.

Why put 262 KHz on the dial? Whats the purpose of it? Its so tacky. It destroys what would otherwise be a spectacular dial. Its a deal breaker for me.

I thought about that as well actually! I would like instead the words Precisionist or something but 262khz is like forever Bulova's signature on these pieces

Why Why Why Why Bulova didn't made it on the presidential bracelet?! 😟

But still, the only question here is : green or silver bulova?

I would have loved to see an option without the fluted bezel as well! But still such an all-around great piece, pretty nice as a mon-fri option for the office

I disagree. The Citizen bears absolutely zero resemblance to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual --- not sure how you can credibly make that statement when none of the design elements (case configuration, bracelet, dial elements) share common aesthetics.

30m WR is a huge letdown here, and a hard pass

Yeah, I think that bulova really dropped the ball with the water resistance. Even 50 m would have been good enough, but 30 Is really pushing the envelope
