A trick to getting the pizza to slide off the peel easier, is to spread a small amount of cornmeal onto the peel and put the pizza right at the edge, the cornmeal helps the dough slide right off onto the hot stone with a quick jerk or two.

great video Scott. Thanks for posting. Instead of using flour on the pizza peel, try using corn meal as the crust just slides off very easily. The cornmeal acts like little ball bearings that the crust does not stick to, while flour can get tacky from the moisture in the dough... just an FYI

I've almost mastered it in the oven but now since it's grilling season I need to try this. I need a peel though, I've been putting the dough on parchment paper and taking it out from under the pie after about 2 minutes. I don't think my paper method would work on a grill. Thanks for the video!
Actually T.L. I think it will work. The temp in the grill will be pretty similar and I think it will help you get the pizza dough off the peel to get it started. In fact, I plan to try it myself very soon that way. Thank you for watching! Great video! I have a pizza stone that never seems to make a crunchy crust in the oven was looking at buying a free-standing Pizza oven but now I am going to try my pizza stone on my BBQ. If it comes out as good as yours I've saved myself about $400!!
@caroltoth6575 Heat it up! Set you grill or oven to the highest setting and let it got hot. Stones take a while to heat up because of the mass. It might take 30-45 minutes in an oven to get up to temp. Even if grilling, preheating is very important. (THat's the secret!) :-) Thank you for watching! Rich Ratchford Close to it. A stone is a LOT more mass than the metal in the grill and takes longer to heat up. Probably at least 30 minutes.
