Here are ways to improve this Mario Party:
1.Have the classic mode (gameplay from Mario Party 1-7) available to play along with the car gameplay so EVERYONE is satisfied.
2.FREAKING BRING BACK CHANCE TIME!!!(Or at least Reversal of Fortune from Mario Party 4
3.Online Multiplayer
4.Make the game have SKILL again. Too much LUCK in Mario Party 9

I agree with #3 the most here, although it won't happen in the way in which you would think there: 3 of _Mario Party 10's_ minigames are in _Mario Party Superstars_ (albeit slightly remastered there), which has online multiplayer video game gameplay functionality.

Make up your mind guys. You complain about Mario being too much of the same, then complain about Mario being nothing like the original, then all of the sudden praise Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Personally, I think that Mario Party 9 was the greatest in a while. Especially when the previous titles ranged from Mediocre to very disappointing.
The vehicle that was introduced, in my opinion, was a great move. Chasing for the Star isn't so tedious, the maps are kept much simpler (making a path from start to finish) and the best part is no matter how you look at it, you could care so much less about the need of going first in every single game.
All of you nostalgic fanboys can whine all you want, but that won't stop me from getting hyped for the 13th installment of Mario Party.
I actually really liked Mario Party 9. It wasn't afraid to try new things and it worked. The fact that Bowser is now a main player really does help differentiate this game, and I hope that Mario Party 10 won't disappoint.
Mario Party 9 was my favourite game in the series and I've played every single one of them for years. After 8 games it was a nice change of pace and the new characters were my favourites out of any game.

Looks phenomenal! I think Bowser Party is a great and creative idea, it will make the gameplay 10 times more entertaining. The minigames also look really fun. I can't wait to see how the other courses are going to look like! Once again, another game sold.
While this was a guarantee to come out eventually for the Wii U, I am really happy to see it finally in HD! Controlling Bowser would be awesome
i WAS hoping they'd announce he new mario game, but they did just start working on it. anyway, amiibos and MARIO FREAKING MAKER are AWESOMETACULAR!! ESPEACIALLY MARIO MAKER!! doubt they'll make it for 3DS though. :(

I thought they said mario party 9's car mechanic was a one-off... Now it's back? This looks to have so much potential, so why the car? It wasn't great in 9 and it looks to play exactly the same here too. Sorry Nintendo, I lost money with party 9 i'm not making that mistake again.
I just hope this one isn't so luck based as 9. Like seriously, getting the mini stars while traveling across the board was just entirely dependent on what number you rolled or who got to start the round first. Mario Party has always been about luck, but with 9 I feel like all I can do to make things a bit better is win as many minigames as I can, only to often have them taken away by some unfair aspect of the board. I'm cool with losing, but losing when I feel like I've done nothing to cause me to lose just feels wrong.

Okay I have two things to say about this
1. The problem with Mario Party 9 was the whole everybody on a train thing and they kept it in this one. I hope Nintendo knows why Mario Party 9 was only an okay game.
2. The Bowser thing is quite cool but a bit violent for the kids XD
1. Add another classic mode (separate characters with/out teams, dice block, orbs or just items)
2. Bring back classic characters even if they have to be unlocked along with new characters (no lazy stuff like bee queen or metal Mario)
3. Have unlock-able costumes so metal Mario etc can stay in Mario's character slot and switch with the plus and minus buttons (pink gold peach can stay in peaches character slot and coloured yoshis is in yoshi's slot etc)
4. Bring back coins and stars and ztars even if it has to be in classic mode
5. Online mode & DLC, if someone disconnects or shuts down, their character will just be removed from the lobby without affecting the gameplay of other people
6. Have more than 72 mini games, maybe install DLC packs or have a compressed folder in the disc and install them then

well.. since Hudson did make the game series its possible that the rights to the "classic" format died w/ them.
AzuGazer Hudson was pretty much the heart of Mario Party. After 8, Hudson went bankrupt, so in a sense, Hudson's death killed the classic heart of Mario Party. Nd Cube focuses too much on making Mario Party too much like Wii Party. This is pretty much "Wii Party U: Mario Party 9 Part 2--Starring Bowser." Classic Mode most likely won't be revamped to Hudson-style MP, so 10's going to flop. The only way a *REAL* Classic Mario Party can be made is get rid of Nd Cube and have a company which uses Hudson's formula to revive Mario Party. At this rate, I don't think MP will be around for too long...
THEY CAN MAKE NEW CONTENT FOR INDIVIDUAL PARTY BOARD MODE INSTEAD OF PUTTING US IN SOME DUMB CAR, PEOPLE. Seriously.
It's not like we're against new content. This was featured in Mario Part 9, and it was stupid. But we appreciated that effort was put into making something new. Go back to individual-based board mode, and put some fresh ideas there.
Actually, there was only one other board that has the car for what we know.
Once there was a time where everybody complained that Mario Party was the same thing over and over again. Now it's something new, and everybody wants it to be the old way again! Seriously, choose one and stick with it! I mean, what's wrong with the car? It makes special dice blocks, or power ups in other games, more interesting to use because you can position your friend in a bad place, and it allows for more interesting board events like the captain events. The only real problems I see with the game is that mini games should happen every 4 turns like before, because sometimes there could be too many or too little mini games, and that you should be able to choose how long you play, though I'm not exactly sure how that problem could be solved. And the board events where you loose half your mini stars was kind of harsh, maybe it would be better if it was a set amount.

And to all of your points: Yes, I think the car thing is fresh and new. Your still not working together, and it gives you more ways to screw with your friends. Yeah, the minigames with being only on board spaces was dumb, but that was one thing. I thought the boards in Mario Party 9 are some of the most interesting in the entire series. And finally, is exploring seriously a redeeming factor of Mario Party? When did you ever pick up Mario Party because you wanted to explore a place that you can easily just look around. I'm not saying there's not exploration, it's just not very significant.

I will never understand the Mario Party fanbase. PERSONALLY, 9 was a breath of fresh air and I'm glad they dared to try something new, and it paid off. 9 was a great party game that I really enjoyed, and 10 certainly has my attention - the new Bowser Party mode looks interesting.
I will agree on one thing though - Island Tour on the 3DS sucked. It was just a genuinely bad Mario Party game.

Lol right ... like the car idea is the only thing they can think of when it comes to inovation , they could have though about something else since their first attemp failed and sucked! , Yes the old Mario Party formula is overused but its a board game! what did you expect? people play and move individually not together. And that old and overused formula is still way way better than the crappy car .
I'm not against change as a whole. When I heard that MP9 was changing things up, I was genuinely intrigued. However, the thing that was so infuriating about MP9 was how unbalanced it was. Other MP games generally gave you a fair bit of control if you got a bit of bad luck. However, in MP9, one little bit of bad luck could send you from 1st to last place just before you get to the finish line.

This is *_THE_* first Mario Party video game that I got in my life (I never grew up on Mario Party video games, which was partly because of my age). I plan to get _Mario Party Superstars,_ which has 3 of _Mario Party 10's_ minigames but slightly remastered there, next week.
Nice! It really seems like the new thing this gen is the ability to control the villains, what with MS conference and now this sweet little game. I'm liking it! Looking forward to more!

Ok, Nintendo, while the addition of playing as Bowser and the new minigames intrigue me, there's one glaring issue.

For me, this is a problem because it's not what Mario Party should be. I'm not saying the one-cart system is bad, I'm just saying that it doesn't belong in the numbered Mario Party series.
I'm aware that this, 9 and Island Tour were developed by a different company than 1-8, so if they want to try new things with this series, that's fine. But if you're going to make changes as large as this, I would suggest putting them in a new Mario Party branch and leave the original Mario Party format to the numbered series.

-the New MP Style from 9/10 with Ministars
-Mario Party Online Mode

they COULD do a mario party that has one board from all the old mario party games. I want that :3 and for god sake make the boards like they would be and not...one way (also...the car mechanic...the reason why I hated the gameboy one and why I hate the 9th and this one.)
I hope Nintendo is reading some of these comments. Change mario party back to where everyone moved on their own. No more of the car thing where everyone moves together. Also, add full online multiplayer with friends or random people. Mario party 1,2, and 3 will always be the best.
I got this game for my birthday and it's awesome! It is defiantly one of my favorite Mario Parties out there! I also thought Bowser as a playable character was an epic win!

it's hihahaba I am talking about the coins and stars system of *mario party*. Just because there are coins in the *platformer* (coins are a staple in the franchise) doesn't mean they can use another company's way of developing a game. So no, my theory still stands. Nintendo legally can't make a game where you have to collect 20 coins to buy a star, at least not any more.
Claire Huff Because Mario Party is too big to drop. Unlike Capcom, who had been deciding to kill Megaman, Nintendo knows they can't drop an IP that has survived for so long. They had to use the Wii Party scoring system. Much like when they made Super Mario Bros. 2, they simply re-skinned Doki Doki Panic (and resold it to Japan as Mario Bros. 2 USA)
Just letting you guys know that Mario Party is surprisingly a THIRD PARTY game. Nintendo doesn't develop it. They just publish the game. The company responsible for the series is called Hudson Soft.
Yeah until Mario Party 9 which was after Hudson Soft went bankrupt. Mario Party 9 and 10 is developed by a first party company called ND Cube. Which have only really made party games other than 2 others.

Sammy Peterson Don't mind some people. I'm a huge nintendo fan and we're all nostalgic about the games we first played. Chances are most people's first mario parties were 1-7. Like I said Mario Party 9 was not a bad game but felt a bit too different. The minigames you can't play much since there not at least once a turn promised. At least the car mechanic is better then the race in Mario Party Island Tour.
RatedRGamerStar My first one was 5. As I had stated, I enjoy the traditional style more. I could understand why so many people dislike the car style though, it was a BIG change. I play the Kirby series regularly, so I'm used to games completely changing their styles. I agree though about Island Tour.
Trust me I read your comment. I love the kirbys series too and change is sometimes neccessary. Although I did hear 10 would only have the cart in bowser mode. But hey the game was just announced so we should wait for more announcements. :)

This trailer just shows off one of the new gameplay types. The classic mode is coming back from old Mario party games. If you watch the Nintendo treehouse segment on the game they mention it several times.

this game could be really great if
1 - they remove the car, or have it only with bowser mode as it does seem to be the only way to make bowser mode work.
2 - they add online. all they need to do is have a 10 second timer for each person to roll the dice. if someone drops out halfway into the game they get a strike on their account, 3 strike and they get a ban, more strikes after that = longer ban. this would encourage people to stay in the game all the way through.
3 - online leaderboards. you could also combine this with people dropping out...if you drop out of the game early it will negatively affect your spot on the leaderboards
And 4. They also brought back the old graphics style and the old way where each board had something very special about it

The old Mario Party formula was created by Hudson Soft. Because they went bankrupt in 2012, when MP9 was just released, it also took out the formula that everyone was used to. Now Nd Cube is in charge of the franchise, since MP9. But the good thing is that they announced a Classic Mode where everybody can travel separately.
This game looks like it has so much potential! I love the new controlling bowser mechanism. Too bad they brought back the vehicle mechanism where players can't choose their own paths. MP 1-3 make my top 3 in no order.
Sorry not buying this, was hoping for a more classic Mario Party.

Believe it or not, the entire Mario Party fanbase does not share a "hive-mind" and those who are complaining about the new formula weren't the ones complaining about the old one. Seriously, if your only response to criticism is to be like "but...but other people complained about it when it was the other way so therefore you must be indecisive!! you suck!!" then you're kind of stupid.
Speaking of stupid, I'm disappointed they brought back not only the car feature from 9, but the mini-star system from 9+Island Tour. The game is waaay more luck-based now, to the point where it's not even fun to play. Which is a shame because the only two good Mario Parties on the Wii U as of right now are 2 (Wii mode VC) and 8 (Wii mode), and this whole Bowser feature seems pretty cool.

More luck-based? Talking about the old ones where suddenly the first player gets all 1's and the others get all 6's, MP9 was WAAAAAY less luck-based and more skill-based (the only minigames where luck actually counted were the fishing one and the hill-rolling one.)
Theblastingkirby64 Pffft?? Have you even played Mario Party 9??? LMAO! Rolling the dice and getting closer to the 10 ministars and suddenly , Your turn it's over and you just helped the next player to get them! On top of that you rarely get Dice Blocks , not to mention Rolling a dice is 100% Luck based and guess what? Dice Blocks are the only items in 9! The only legit ways to get screwed in older MP games was because of Chance Time and such ''Lucky Events'' (Not present since MP7 BTW) the rests is up to the players and what they choose to do .
If you look at the Nintendo E3 Mario Party 10 website, there actually is a classic mode confirmed! Really hyped now that is confirmed!

Anyone who says they won't get the game because the car is back is a little crybaby who's scared to play the game because its not like the first Mario Party, which came out oh yeah, 15 YEARS AGO. Seriously people, if you're gonna get mad at Nintendo for changing their games, then DONT PLAY THEM AT ALL.
mario party died at 9, their core mechanics changed and now their either a battle for starbits (might as well be coins) or a game of candyland

I honestly like this new game. I've played nearly every mario party except for the DS one (not Island Tour) and I feel this one has some potential.

Even though several people post that they're "awaiting the hate comments," a lot of people like the new Mario Party (including myself.), and many of those who don't are willing to accept it and be calm about it. I agree, MP10 has real potential. I can see playing as Bowser (and by extension being the ultimate jerk to everyone) being a lot of fun, and I'm glad to see them continuing to change and add new things as opposed to "copy paste the exact same formula 8 times with new minigames and boards." Don't get me wrong, I love several of the older Mario Parties (1-4, and 6.) but it was getting old after the 8th time. I'm all for this change.

No hate here either. I respect opinions, but I feel a bit different about the new MPs. I just feel that ND Cube's Mario Parties conspire against players instead of being just pure luck. I can still remember the sign always sending me to the Bowser Zone in MP Island Tour... -_-

Yinyanyeow Honestly, both games are bad, but for different reasons. Mario Party 8 was bad because it barely did anything to feel different from its predecessors and what it did bring which was new was awful (tacked-on motion controls, anyone?). It wasn't terrible, really, it was just really bland.
Mario Party 9, on the hand, was bad because it changed too much of the formula for old-school fans to feel a familiar vibe. I also feel like there are too many similarities between this game and Wii Party. Which makes sense, because MP9 was made by the same developers behind Wii Party.
I just hope this new MP, at the very least, brings more of the fun of the old games 'cause I don't think I can take much more disappointment from a series which I've played ever since I could play video games.
Besides this new playing as Bowser mechanic, I'm not seeing much else.. :/ but I know the mini games, most of them at least will be fun. That's one thing that'll never change thankfully.
I would always have the lead in this game, and then just lose EVERYTHING in the end. I hate Mario Party, but I love playing it lol.
***** I agree. Bob-omb Factory, in terms of Solo Mode, is probably one of the hardest boards to win on because of 2 things:
1. Two boss minigames that are pure luck-based. It's the 2nd board you play on, what kind of difficulty spike is that?!
2. Bob-omb explodes after 10 spaces. If you get caught over the 10 space limit, you lose 1/2 of your Mini-Stars. That's really cheap, punishing, & unfair to the player.
I liked the Kart thing in 9 and this game looks fun to play
Finally someone who liked MP9 because of the car! I really don't understand why others hate it so much.
I hate that all the players go around the board together. This isn't real Mario Party :(
