    Bob Dylan has been more than a musician to me, he has been a father , a friend , a teacher , and a guardian of my heart and soul .

      HA! Yes it does, although I doubt Bob wants all those responsibilities. He's a busy guy. The level of almost constant touring that he's been able to maintain over the years at a relatively advanced age is just amazing!

    I have all Dylan's albums . I listen to him, feel his mournings and learn from him, since 1972. I was only 13 by then. My favourite albums are Nashville Skyline, Planet Waves and Blood on the Tracks. I consider him as an older brother I have never met and I consider myself as his world number one fan. I wish, someday that I could meet him

    I agree that the raw expression of acoustic guitar and Dylan's singing is the best.. When most of us who learn Bob's songs for our own enjoyment..few of us have a full band or an" do wop" chorus.. I used to sit on a sea wall near Pacific ocean and play Corrina Corrina..Spanish Boots.... Girl from North Country....I was quite young and did it because it just moved me..DIDNT do bad with the chic's either.. Man the girls loved a guitar guy..and I well knew it....Now at 73 the chic's are out of the equation.. But I still love playing those songs..think I'll go down to Senior Center and play for them.…tell the truth..artists love an audience... Whatever form it's expressed.. That's part of it also. This mock humidity of " I play for my own enjoyment". Bull F'n Shit.

I guess now I'm like you 65 + running real short on chicks these days! But hey don't Only the Good Die Young? a couple of things: He doesn't pronounce his name 'Morello'. And electric guitars were not a no no at Newport. Ask Muddy Waters when you get up to the gates.

    • @Barrylayy
      @Barrylayy 9 років тому +3

      George Rothe I know, you are so right. Electric guitars were not a no no and Pete Seeger did not hate Dylan's electric set. Hi did threaten to cut the cables with an ax, but it was BECAUSE THE SOUND WAS OF TERRIBLE QUALITY, not because he hated electric music. All this "untrue stuff" goes into the making of a legendary fable that did NOT really happen.

    • @michaelruhdorfer2481

      Muddy Waters played at the Newport Jazz Festival, where electric guitars were cool, Dylan's went electric at the Newport Folk festival, where electric guitars were pretty much a no no. In addition to that, Dylan was supposed to be the headliner of the festival, but only played 3 songs in 15 min.

      It was just the fact of his devoted folk base having the shock of their lives knowing the "voice of their generation" was no TRADITIONALIST lol but then neither was his folk material...it was just they viewed "folk" and "rock" combined as a no-no. THe same thing happened when Dylan, the Byrds and others went country

    • @jazzmanchgo
      @jazzmanchgo 2 роки тому

      @@Barrylayy The quotes I saw from Seeger indicated that it wasn't the electrification that bothered him, and maybe not even the quality of the sound system -- Ol' Pete was a diehard believer in optisism and humanistic faith, and he couldn't [under]stand the hard-edged irony that Dylan's sound and new songs were projecting. It sounded nihilistic and life-denying to him. Of course, he was wrong -- if he'd gone back and listened to some of those classic Harry Smith compliations, he could have reminded himself that doom-laden prophecies and apocalyptic dread -- to say nothing of barbed satire and spit-in-the-eye defiance of propriety -- are as old as "folk" music. I'm guessing he realized the error of his ways later on.
