- Original upload got taken down so I cleaned up another video taken from a reaction channel because people deserve to see the entire unedited performance. Not sure what song this is though but it's great.
I am a guitarist and I was at the Vegas airport on the same plane as charo. Waiting for our luggage and I had my guitar and she saw me pick it up and we had a moment It was really fun. She’s a beast on that classical. Always a fan
You're a lucky one, mate. I'd love to meet her and see her perform live.
did you get her number??
As Legion Ivory said “you are lucky mate”
I would say more like “you had won the lottery “
Most of us dream about meeting a famous musician and maybe jam a bit with them(I’m the one who hangs around musicians, a drummer)
You got to live that dream
I’m jealous and all so stoked you got to jam with Charo
You have a story to amaze your grandchildren when that day comes
A great Musician
💞💕💞
Charo always seemed happy becoming the "cuchi-cuchi girl." But she truly was an accomplished musician. She was also a funny and fun t watch.
In an interview Charo said, "Around the world I am known as a great musician. But in America I am known as the cuchi-cuchi girl. That's okay because cuchi-cuchi has taken me all the way to the bank."
She wanted to get paid too. Good for her ❤️
@@rubysarahaynes holla 😎 Charo is a WORLD CLASS FLAMENCO GUITAR PLAYER 🎸 👏🏿... WORLD 🌎 CLASS!!
she still is.. she practice 3 hour every day at 71 yrs of age . she is one of the very best
Whats cuchu cuchu
@@Remspamton her cuchi,cuchi.
You know!
At 52 I've seen this woman all my life and Never knew she played...always "Cuchi Cuchi" and giggling. I wish I knew this a long time ago, she's fantastic.
Yeah, back in the eighties, when she was at the peak of popularity in the US, her guitar skills got buried, but if you got lucky, she'd do something like Carson or Letterman and play. I can't recall when I first caught one of those, but I was still fairly young, so it was likely early eighties.
In my 60s yes same here
She started playing at age 9 and studied under Andrés Segovia.
Hot as hell and with real talent 😊
I’m same age group-- I just found out today! My mind blown. Always thought she was an old bimbo lol
I'd forgotten about how beautiful she was back then. She’s still gorgeous, but in 1977 she knocked it out of the park!
She was only 26 back then.
This woman deserves so much more respect than she got. An extremely beautiful woman, with fingers trained by André Segovia…
*Andrés
2023 and she's still tearing it up! Saw her in Ct. and I couldn't believe how good she was.
Seeing her again tonight in Connecticut, I did 20 years ago, amazing
She's playing Ernesto Lecuona's Malaguena. It's actually a piano solo.
Originally scored for multiple instruments en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malague%C3%B1a_(song)
Roy Clark was the only other guitar player I've seen play that piece. And Roy is also world class on ANY stringed instrument.
@@joepatriot6431 There's a classical transcription that a lot of classical players, um, attempt; but if you haven't had the chance to hear it, Paco de Lucía's version is magnificent as well.
@@joepatriot6431 haha you should watch paco de Lucia then play it. Gonna have your mind blown
Los Hispanos Quartet did an amazing version around 1966. There's also a cool psych rock version by Alexander Rabbit from 1968.
She was a prodigy by age 9, and studied for a while under Segovia.
I thought I had heard that correctly. Segovia was a magnificent guitarist, and clearly she picked up on that too, haha
DAMN. Amazing
It’s insane to think this is 1977 and how much better she probably is now after continued practice for years. Charro really is an incredible musician and guitarist.
Seems like a lovely person too.
She started playing when she was 9 years old
*As a lifelong guitarist,* drummer, and (shitty) pianist I assure you musicianship largely peaks in one's mid-20's.
@@vaffangool9196
May be your experience but that hardly makes it universal.
She's old now, I'm sure she still can play great but with old age comes Arthritis and the memory not being as sharp as it once was
Charo is a marvelous classical Flamenco guitarist. I am happy to have found this.
She was voted best Flamenco guitarist "of the year" twice by guitar magazine Wow! (Critical bastards lol USA!!!).
When was this? She is great to be sure. But against Paco de Lucia, Manolo Sanlucar, Vicente Amigo, Tomatito and many many others…
She was trained by a master. I believe it. She destroys. I like metal and stuff but I wish so hard I could play guitar like this it just sexy as heck and beautiful.
I am not surprised that she was voted world classed Flamingo female guitarist.
@@harryjackson4759 “Best Flamenco Guitarist”
not world class flamingo female guitarist lol
@@VetteMAE2, don't worry, I suppose that's an American magazine. They know nothing. I is, more or less, like when they propose to choose the best operatic singers and people votes for Sara Brightman or Bocelli.
This chick was a major badass in her day. And a funny comedic actress, as well.
And she speaks about 12 languages. She's brilliant.

Charo is Still a Guitar Playing Bad Ass.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I can remember the first time I ever saw Charo play the guitar. Up until then, I hadn’t thought too much of her but I changed my mind after I saw what an accomplished guitarist she was. It changed my whole opinion of her.
Grew up watching her and am just now learning that she was an accomplished musician. I'm kinda mad but also amazed. I just love her and she's so beautiful. Truly gifted.
She is a kick ass guitar player. I saw an episode of "suite life on deck" and she was playing guitar on the episode and I looked her up after.
This is how I discovered her too! Her playing is gorgeous.
Love Charo ❤️ In a way, she almost reminds me of a slightly more hyper, more over-the-top, Spanish version of Dolly Parton!
Or a Latino version of Roy Clark.
She is SPANISH. NOT "latino"...
Calling a Spaniard "latino" is insulting.
"Latina."
Definitely not latinks.
Calling a Spaniard a Latina is as bad as calling an Englshwoman an Anglo-Saxon. It's like claiming that their families are part of very successful historical cultures and contemporary societies that are thriving far and wide. How insulting!
❤
Wow, she was extremely beautiful
My GAWD......Even at eight years old, I knew this woman was special!
For sure. I can remember getting that 'funny feeling' even that young when I would see her on Cher's variety show at grandmas house.
An amazing craftsmanship to her guitar playing. This woman is among the most amazing guitar players of Latino music. She's above many of the people people put above her. Secovia has nothing on her.
Segovia was her teacher
She's not just an amazing Latin/Flamenco guitarist. Ottmar Leibert always looked up to Charo, and as much as love Lindesy Buckingham, and his acoustic classical sets, not anywhere near her talent.. .and with a perfect manicure!
Someone please do a movie about this woman's life. How have I known of Charo all my life and never known she played the guitar?
Charo... We must have more Charo!!!! More CHARO!!!!!
I beg ur forgiveness Ms. Charo, I thougjt u were only another beautiful face.
I am amazed.😮
Seen her most my life. I'm 62 all I ever knew her for was the cuchi cuchi girl. I'm glad I found this. She really was special.
I am deeply mesmerized by her fingers dancing accross that instrument with so much fervor and jovial energy! Passionate even…I’m still picking my mouth up from off the floor.
Saw her in Branson a few years ago at theater of Andy
Williams. The Moon River theater. Before he died. She was awesome. Very enjoyable.
56 and didn't know she could play! Outstanding! Thank you!🤘🤠🤘
Who knew? 67 here? 😮
I love seeing a woman who's as beautiful inside as she is inside. Absolute treasure.
This woman was such a magnificent performer. Got some notoriety, but not nearly what she deserved!
Underrated talent. Most people just think of her as a goofy guest on old Merv or Love Boat shows.
She is so much more! ❤
Viva Charo 🎸
I feel cheated, haha... All this time ! Couldn't they have showcased her musical talent ?!?
I grew up seeing her on various TV shows. wasnt till the last 7 or 8 years i even knew she was a musician. A very talented one , i may add.
I had no idea she trained under Segovia. I was a kid when she did the Cuchi-cuchi bit so never thought more of her nor knew of her talents.
I always wondered why she was really famous but damn i stand corrected wow
She was incredibly gifted.
Not many can play Flamenco guitar... It is an almost lost art.
Her exhuberance just gave her a spotlight but she has so many gifts besides her flash and flamboyance.
She is amazing and I always find it shocks people when I tell them that didn’t know her talent at flamenco 💃
Was always a fan of this amazing woman. ❤
I never knew Charo played the flamenco guitar, I didn’t see that on Love Boat, not like this! She plays like Andres Segovia! A deep newfound respect for Charo! 💯
She studied under him
Oh man, 1977, native kid from a reservation hearing this for the first time ever, I was enthralled by Charo's performance. I fell in love 😍Still in love to this day.
When I was a very young kid it was Karen Carpenter who inspired me to play drums and Charo who inspired me to play guitar. You just don't see this type of talent these days.❤
Loved these talented celebrities we used to have in those days. Unlike who is out there today.
no one makes it big without talent whether you think theyre talented or not
Beauty, brains & talent. ❤
Beautifully Done! Gone Charo!!!! Hey Now!!!!!
Underrated guitarist, great feel and playing here.
Amazing, amazing, amazing!
In her sixties, she is STILL IMPRESSIVE , GOD BLESS YOU CHARO. for your light and inspiration. JOHN❤ revisited 10 October 2023❤
I adore her. So very talented, gorgeous and funny. Bless you, Charro! Your videos bring me joy! Liked, thank you!
Grew up watching her…amazing
Beautiful and talented. She’s a prize !!!
She plays so perfectly it's amazing. Her presentation and delivery is flawless.
It would have been much better without the orchestra...the better to hear Charo.
I saw Charo live in Honolulu in the 80s, and she was fantastic on that guitar !
I had totally forgotten that she was so talented!
It's no joke, bro. Wow.
Coochie coochie coochie and she is actually a virtuoso. What a woman so much soul and love.
I’m happy to see that she has talent. Good for her. Wow! I never knew….
I remember seeing this on TV, I was a Freshman in High School 😊
Still listening December 2021
Every single filmed recording of her is always back by an orchestra or a band. I just want to hear her play without a bunch of studio mercenaries muddying it up.
Buy any of her albums.
It isn't her fault, they follow her around just be able to play with a master. 🙂
So amazingly talented and what a gorgeous doll!!
I remember reading a while back she was one of the world's best. Yup... cuchi, cuchi, cuchi. Charo! One the worlds best flamenco guitar players. I can believe it, too. She got chops! Aloha!
Wow! Amazing Flamenco guitarist! I knew she played guitar but I had absolutely no idea she was this good. After seeing this I went online and saw she studied under the great master Andres Segovia. OK, I know, I’m a little late to the party but I am going to try and see her play at Morongo if she comes again as it is near me. Cuchi Cuchi, she is so much more than that!
🌻I Love Charro! ✝️her Heart! ❤️🙏🏻
Beautiful and extremely talented!!!
I've seen her before. She's an amazing guitarist! Good comedian. Good actress.
Thank you for posting. Exceptional and multi-dimensional artist.
Woooohooo she’s the best Flamenco female guitarist ever .. .. I’ve never in my life time ever seen a woman who can compete with men an undoubtedly win .. God Bless you Charo for putting women on the map thank you 🙏🏻
She is surprisingly good, classic and flamenco styles... and she was very cute to boot!!
.... Very Good Show Indeed... What Skill... And Looks amazing with the Farah Fawcett and Dyan Canon Look
I remember seeing her on The Carol Burnett show always playing comical silly parts and I know she was on some talk shows like Johnny Carson playing her guitar but she was just a very quiet person she wasn't into being out there and people's faces just very well grounded compassionate, an extremely talented❤
WOW ! She was an amazing guitarist !
What a legend ❤️
Wow! This is the first time I have seen this performance, what an amazing artist. She was so young and beautiful I almost didn't recognize her. I saved this to watch again and again, I need to be constantly reminded of how much I suck on guitar - thanks Charo!
I have always loved this beautiful LADY. She was not only a great guitar player, but such a precious funny, LADY. She always seemed so happy. 😊❤
I had no idea she could do that.
Wow !!!
I never knew until today 😮
She’s AMAZING !!!
I love classical flamenco guitar ♥️🎸
I was today years old when I learned she was a master player and not just s cuchi cuchi girl. Wow, new respect for Charo
Malaguena will remain the sad voice coming from the depths of tortured hearts, then it will continue to scream in order to announce its wounds over the years that it will continue to receive the pain of wounds and forever....🌍🖤🖤🖤
Loved it.
Before seeing these clips on UA-cam I had no idea that Charo was such an amazing guitarist.
She also sings,love her.
🥰🥰🥰 Yess Charo
Love you Charo
Outstanding, Charo!
In another life she played this for me on the beach, in Ibiza.
We were naked, and I sipped sangria.
❤
Wow I remember watching when I was a kid , I’m 58 now I wonder what happened to this beautiful,talented lady? 😮🙌🏼🎸
I always remembered her from the Surreal Life (sorry I was like 13 when that aired) but I was amazed to see how talented she really is.
¡UNA SALVAJE!
Epic
Good call. I only ever knew Charo as the "Coochie-coochie girl" when I was a kid (I was born the year before this performance). I was absolutely floored the first time I heard her guitar. Still am. Gracias, amigo!
Charo was 15 when this was recorded!
WOW 😮 ❗ I've always had a soft spot for Charo, but her flamenco skills are another level! Bless her "Cuchi Cuchi" 💋💕
So wonderful!
Great video! Thanks for posting. She was a real pro.
I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, at the time she was a tv star and very funny as well
When I watched the Watchmojo list on the 20 top female guitarist’s and here she was, I was completely blown away
Never even knew she was so talented at Flamenco on guitar
Thank you Watchmojo for expanding my knowledge
On Charo
Now she is a musician 1st , actress 2nd in my mind
Wow wow wow.
Coochee coochee Charo? She was on a lot of variety shows in the 70's maybe 80's. Didn't know how she garnered that celebrity. Now I know.
I’m today-years-old when I learned that “HOOCHIE-COOCHIE-COOCHIE” could play a mean fuckin flamenco 😂 Holy shit. I grew up with my parents playing 70s reruns on TV and seeing her prance around all crazy-like. This is insanely awesome to me ❤️ What a legend.
Beautiful!
'Malagueña' ! Magnifico! Gracias!
Bravo 👏
Bellissimo ❤
Apparently, from 1970 to 1979 were the best years in the whole world. The years of prosperity and love and art and the peak of world classic cinema. And Hollywood of course❤❤❤
Wow!
