Updating my 2007 Prius Map DVD

- Welcome to my first video of the decade and the year 2020! In this video, we take a break from computers (kind of) and update the navigation software in my 2007 Toyota Prius. At first glance, I thought the disk I bought off of eBay for $70 was a bootleg, but it turns out that the disk was official and actually worked for me! I forgot to show in the video that I updated the map version from 6.1 (2006) up to 10.1 (2010).
There’s a 2017/18 Western Europe E1G DVD now available for the 2nd Generation (iconic) Prius on eBay for under £20…!!! Bought one, installed it easily, it works!!!
Last one I bought was a 2013/14 DVD Set - from Toyota - £144 or something, so I’m pleased with this cheap DVD for an arguably obsolete Prius model.
Yes, I use a more modern Smartphone (with Waze) for those 21st century functions the inbuilt bespoke Satellite Navigation on the 2nd Gen Prius cannot do - but….it’s nice to use that ancient technology sometimes - especially if you have a 2nd Gen Prius with Navigation.
It’s a bit like programming the navigation computer on the Millennium Falcon - and about as much nostalgic fun punching your destination in.
I like that I can fire up the Navigation System and use voice commands like “Go Home” - or “Gas Station” - there’s two A4 pages of voice commands just for Navigation alone!!!
Learn some and astound those who think lowly of your unique 2nd Gen Prius Hybrid.
It’s classic tech and I love it 🥰
Where did u get the CD. I’m looking for an update for 2012 Prius
I found it on eBay. Most listings tell you which models the disc is compatible with.
Hi I need some help. I want to upgrade the dvd for my 2007 Prius navigation system. But the dvds are like 14.95 to 109.00 on eBay. Can I use one that costs lower? help plz
Make sure you get the one for a hybrid car. The ones for non-hybrid cars will not work. Usually the eBay listings will tell you what make and models are compatible with the DVD.

@@Thehungryprepper007 I believe 2004 is Generation 2, so that would be the 2016 map system.

Do you have a video tutorial how to operate the nav, I feel it is very confusing. Maybe I just don't understand the mental model.
I have since sold this car, but I have a 2018 Prius Prime now, which uses a very similar navigation system.
Hello. Is there any way I can download the nav. Map for middle East region. I can't find any DVD disc from online shop or even from Toyota website. Thanks

Did you mean year 2010 maps or maps designed for a 2010 Prius. Confused...thanks.
The map system software is from 2010. My former Prius was a 2007.
@@benkleinberg97 Thank you. I see you got rid of your Prius and it looks like they stopped providing updates. I thought you meant that you were able to get newer gen3 Prius maps to work on a gen2 if there is such a thing.
Why doesn’t my 2007 Prius have the black box for the dvd? Idk where it is
You probably don't have the navigation model. You can tell by the buttons around the main screen in the front of the car. If you don't see a button that says "map/voice," then you don't have the nav system model.

I wish my 07 Prius had map lol
I tried it with a cpl gen 2 priuses and ended up with one that doesnt have the nav. It's awfully slow system and terribly aged UI. I couldnt find my home address either which is a really old house in the DMV area. You might be better off without it
@@thomast774 Jeez you’re probably right. I didn’t consider that there may not be an update, or a way to update the maps.

Where do you get the DVD
I got mine on eBay for about $80 with shipping. Just make sure your car year is listed as compatible with the DVD you buy.
