A GREAT rainy day read is Every Heart a Doorway AND the sequel/prequel Down Among the Sticks and Bones!! Such incredible beautiful books, very short reads, and dark, dark, daaaark stories.
I just finished reading Our Dark Duet last night (couldn't stop reading until I finished it around 3am) and I AM NOT OKAY. HOW COULD SHE DO THAT?!!?! (On the other hand, I LOVE when books make me feel that many feels!)
Going to recommend The Raven Boys and Murder on the Orient Express for rainy days. They are in completely different, genres but both are adventures with spectacular atmosphere!
I love rainy days too! Some books that come to mind I'd recommend is Lord of the Rings, The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley, The Midnight Queen by Sylvia Izzo Hunter, Hunter by Mercedes Lackey, The Iron King by Julie Kagawa, A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn, The Falconer by Elizabeth May and The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski
LOVED Strange the Dreamer. Literally one of my favorites of this year 💙 You were spot on with all your comments. Releasing our own review on the book soon to spread the love.
It was raining SO HARD in my neighborhood this week that there was a flash flood advisory. But besides the potential for property damage, I love reading when it rains! Thanks for the great recs!
the miniaturist is one of the next books on my tbr list!! it's been a must for some time and the moment i finished the muse i knew i HAD to read it soon 😍 and now because of this video, an enchantment of ravens and the last magician are definitely ones i'm planning to... it's on the precipice of raining now so hoping dearly it does! lovely video idea regan :)
Loved the video! My rainy day recommendation is The Queen of the Tearling trilogy. Immersive, engaging, and freaking amazing. I loved being in that world.
I love atmospheric books! Strange the Dreamer and Uprooted are my all time favourites, I ugly cried so much with Monster Calls and I have Savage Song next in my tbr! I'm also super excited to get my hands on the Last Magician!
Oh my god as soon as you said "this is a book you can read in one sitting... And probably cry" I'll immediately thought of A Monster Calls haha. So perfect
It's actually sunny here today, but this video makes me wish for rain, haha! Great recommendations, I have yet to pick up Strange The Dreamer. I see it everywhere!
I added all of these books to my TBR! They sound amazing. I was just about to film a haul and say I needed to calm down with the haul videossssss but then I watched this video and now I want them all!!!!!!
I was woken up at 6:30 this morning by that HUGE thunderclap. Crazy! I’m planning on finishing And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie on this rainy day
I strongly recommend The Arcanum by Thomas Wheeler for rainy day and also Halloween reads. Non stop action, witty repartee and the religious aspect was not at all heavy handed. Love love love this book
I seriously miss Chicago rainy days so much. I don't know why it's so different now that I'm at college, but it is. I really enjoyed Victoria Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic series, but I haven't been sure if This Savage Song is something that I'll enjoy. You (and a few other booktubers) talk about it so much, and with such certainty that I'm really considering it. I have Vicious, but I haven't gotten around to reading past the first chapter yet.
I think A Tale For The Time Being (Ruth Ozeki) is also a really good rainy day read! It's got a nice bit of magical realism in it and it can also be read as a metafiction kinda thing :D
I just read Daughter of the Pirate King - on a rainy day! And in someways it does fit the raining outside well although it has more of a lighter tone. You should definitely check this book out. I really enjoyed it and was surprised how original the story line was :)
Let's see, Marina (my go-to recommendation), The Scorpio Races, Unwind, We Have Always Lived in the Castle, Night Film, The Butterfly Garden, In the Woods, and Wolf Winter (though perhaps Wolf Winter would be better suited for a snow day).
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson is super dark and atmospheric! But as we're currently awaiting a storm called Ophelia where I live, I'm considering reading Hamlet when it hits on Monday!
still haven’t gotten to strange the reader I need to bump it up my tbr because Laini Taylor is great! Also this savage song is the bestttt and I totally agree that it’s a good rainy day read
Great selection! Have you ever read A Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic? That's another funny and absorbing fictional fae story; a chunky book, but so worth it.
There is this one book called “stork” written by Wendy Delsol it’s very strange but it keeps you wanting to read more and it includes fantasy and it’s great I think you would enjoy
I'd recommend The Cahill Witch Chronicles by Jessica Spotswood, the In the Company of Killers series by J.A. Redmerski, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea doulogy by April Genevieve Tucholke and You by Caroline Kepnes.
Laura Wachter I've read the cemetery of forgotten books series and the Prince of Mist and I loved the Prince of mist! Obviously the cemetery books are amazing. But I don't get how any of his books have below five stars... his writing is flawless and he is the best character builder I have ever heard of. I just bought the watcher in the shadows, then I'll read marina!
Is the last magician a stand alone? I also loved a monster calls. I got it on Christmas Day and finished it ........ on Christmas Day I cried and absolutely loved it.
Caraval is a really good book for a rainy day. You can finish it super fast and it is really captivating and mysterious
I am so in love with that edition of Uprooted 😍
A Bookish Balance saaameee
isn't it lovely?? 😍
I think it is sold out unfortunately
A GREAT rainy day read is Every Heart a Doorway AND the sequel/prequel Down Among the Sticks and Bones!! Such incredible beautiful books, very short reads, and dark, dark, daaaark stories.
wanderingstar Can't agree with you enough!!!
Aren't rainy days the best

I read "a monster calls" like a week ago for my friend and yes some tears were shed but I didn't ugly cry like I was expecting
I need rain in California. I love rain. And it's soooo sunny and hot in California right now.
svera ahmed I couldn't agree more!! it sucks 😩
It's the same here in Portugal. I love rainy days but the weather isn't agreeing with me😫😫😫 it's always super hot and wayyy too sunny
Oh my gosh, I know right!! Even in October, it's so bad lol

the miniaturist seems really cool!! I might go buy it now
Yaaasss! Uprooted is one of my favourite fantasy books ever! It is amazing! THANK YOU!
It's raining here every day and this video has filled a void in my life I didn't know existed. Thanks a lot, Regan! ❤
I just finished reading Our Dark Duet last night (couldn't stop reading until I finished it around 3am) and I AM NOT OKAY. HOW COULD SHE DO THAT?!!?! (On the other hand, I LOVE when books make me feel that many feels!)
addictivegamer102 IKR. I think I put the iPad down and bawled for ten mins straight
Same... It's been months since I finished it and I still feel the pain. I bawled for the rest of the afternoon
addictivegamer102 OH MY GOD, SAAAMEEE I ACTUALLY CRIED AND FELT NUMB AND BROKEN 😭😭😭
Going to recommend The Raven Boys and Murder on the Orient Express for rainy days. They are in completely different, genres but both are adventures with spectacular atmosphere!

I love to read Bartimaeus by Jonathan Stroud on rainy days - the London setting fits the mood of those days and the humour never fails to cheer me up
It's been raining so much in the past few days, so I'm definitely going to pick these up!
LOVED Strange the Dreamer. Literally one of my favorites of this year 💙 You were spot on with all your comments. Releasing our own review on the book soon to spread the love.

Yes! I totally needed this list today! It's pouring where I am today too :(
I added all of these books to my TBR! They sound amazing. I was just about to film a haul and say I needed to calm down with the haul videossssss but then I watched this video and now I want them all!!!!!!

I was woken up at 6:30 this morning by that HUGE thunderclap. Crazy! I’m planning on finishing And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie on this rainy day
Micah Lee per-fect rainy October read.
Micah Lee I just started that book! What do you think of it?
I LOVE THAT BOOK!
I looove Uprooted so much, one of my fav books! Also Strange the Dreamer was amazing, cannot wait for the next book to come out :)
Rainy days have come and passed in my country like a month ago and now its scorching hot and it was 42 degrees on Friday ... aaah !!

Ugh theres so many good books, i wish i could just curl up and read them all!
These recs were super helpful, thanks😊😊😊
I wish it would rain in California. It's fall and 80 degrees, tf nature😭
Nilana River Allergies are killing me this year . . . .
I feel you, it's 94 today in Arizona!
Tf humans. We destroy our environment which causes the climate change which causes the high temperatures which causes the not so autumn vibes... 😰
Nilana River And also, someone needs to tell Florida its fall!!!
Same! Plus the awful air quality up north where I am cuz of the fires :( it's not a fun time.
Great video! I really hope it rains here in California soon! We need it.
I recommend any of Tucholke's books. Dark atmosphere, dark humor, dark, dark, dark. I belive it's definitely great for rainy days.
i love ur shirt omg!
still haven’t gotten to strange the reader I need to bump it up my tbr because Laini Taylor is great! Also this savage song is the bestttt and I totally agree that it’s a good rainy day read
*drops everything to watch this*
Read A Monster Calls when it was up for Carnigee and loved from then! Still not seen the film.
*whispers/screams* the raven cycle and miss peregrine's home for peculiar children
I think your rain has migrated down to us, here in Oklahoma! It's 1 AM, and POURING!
These are such excellent recommendations!!
uprooted! I agree it's great 😍
I actually love reading dark academia books in rainy season
Great selection! Have you ever read A Thinking Woman's Guide to Real Magic? That's another funny and absorbing fictional fae story; a chunky book, but so worth it.

(not a emo! Just hate sunlight and hate people 🕵)
BlahBlah Blah Jr SAME
I love rainy days! I'm going to save Strange the Dreamer for the next time it rains. :) I also really want to read The Last Magician!
Does anyone know where you can buy that Uprooted edition?
Its raining so bad in Illinois
Isabela Rodriguez true
I live in Chicago and can so relate. Also homecoming is in a few hours so trekking through the storm in heels and a dress will be fun
Isabela Rodriguez it’s pouring right now :((
Madison Soich omg that sucks, mine was a few weeks back, how was yours?
Isabela Rodriguez it was really fun. You??
Haha when I saw the video, I was like what a coincidence! It's been raining all day here too! And then I remembered that you're also I chicago now :)
I'm going to read This Savage Song next!! Seems good for Halloween too especially since I'm a chicken and don't want anything too too scary
I recommend any book written by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
stoola Marina is one of my favorite books ever. Loved every second of that book.
Laura Wachter I've read the cemetery of forgotten books series and the Prince of Mist and I loved the Prince of mist! Obviously the cemetery books are amazing. But I don't get how any of his books have below five stars... his writing is flawless and he is the best character builder I have ever heard of. I could immediately tell you were going to recommend this savage song by the gap in your bookshelf 😅
I NEED TO READ THE LAST MAGICIAN LIKE ASAP
This Savage Song ❤️
It is raining ridiculously by me as well. Sadly had to work instead of curling up with a book.
It rarely ever rains in Dubai, and when it does it LITERALLY rains for 10 minutes and then it stops :/
Now I can't wait for it to rain again 😅
i love your necklace! where is it from?
It just started raining here while I was watching this video😂 good timing
Is the last magician a stand alone? I also loved a monster calls. I got it on Christmas Day and finished it ........ on Christmas Day I cried and absolutely loved it.
Kodi Hollingsworth No I the last magician is not a standalone 😊
Any recommendations for bookstores in Chicago?
Yay thank you for the list...
I want to read This Savage Song so badly but I hear the second book is devastating so I keep putting it off cause I'm scared :(
Rebeca I'll pick it up when I'm in the mood for a good cry then:)
Ellie Ellie its worth it, trust me
It is very much worth it.
Ellie Ellie OMG READ IT!!! IT'S WORTH THE PAIN! 😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gah! I haven’t read any of these!
The Miniaturist sounds like a darker version of A Doll's House by Ibsen, is it?
The hardcover edition of Uprooted that you have is going for insane prices on Amazon and Ebay x_x $250+
Strange the Dreamer 😍
Chicago rains
Is an enchantment of ravens a stand alone or a series?
Great books
Great thanks!!
Raining all day in Charlotte NC today...ugh!! the frogs will definitely come out🤢
I wish it was raining where I live.
