7 UP POUND CAKE
Use your brand preferences on ingredients
Start in a cold oven (dont preheat oven) @ 325 for 1 1/2 hours or according to your oven.
CAKE INGREDIENTS
3 cups of cake flour
1/2 of vegetable shortening crisco...or your preference
5 eggs
2 sticks of butter
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon coconut extract
• (sometimes she adds a little more of extract about a teaspoon more)
• 7 oz or 3/4 cups of 7 UP
• 3 cups white sugar
LEMON GLAZE - optional
• 1 cup or 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice or fresh lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon 7 UP
MIXING CAKE -- mix well after adding each ingredient
• Cream butter and shortening together
• Add sugar slowly
Do a bowl scrape down after each ingredient
• Add eggs one at a time
Do a bowl scrape down after each ingredient
• Add flavoring extracts
• Add mix flour & salt before adding to cake batter.
• Then add flour mixture together into batter with 7UP (a little at a time)
Do a bowl scrape down after each ingredient pour into pan.
Racks should be middle ways in oven. Place in center of oven in a greased and floured tube pan.
Once cake is done...cool in pan about 10-15 mins. Then turn out on rack and let cake cool rest of way
GLAZE OPTIONAL
1 1/2 cup of powdered sugar
Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice a little at a time
Spread on to a cool cake

I just found you on UA-cam and I have enjoyed watching you and listening to you. I started cooking when I was young
I started with pancakes, my Mother would make up the pancake batter in the mornings before she went to work in the summer when we were out school I would make myself something for breakfast, My Mother worked days and my Father worked nights.
They had their own business and they both worked in it.
But we were taught things when we were young, I was the youngest of 3 girls and when both of my older sisters were in school my Mother didn’t go back to work until I was about 8 years old, I was her assistant in the kitchen
So I pick up a lot of things by just watching.
But I remember my Mother baking a ham very large blue roasting pans for Turkeys in but the hams were very large and it was wrapped up in a wax butcher
Paper and I think I remember but I am not sure it was a dry ham , she put water around the ham.
It was nothing like you get out of the
Grocery Stores now days these were so good you could smell them cooking down the street and then when we were through with ham the ham bone went in a big pot of pinto beans, Lima or navy beans.
But most of the time it was pinto beans but I was wondering if you knew how to cook a ham like that I described to you I would really appreciate your help with anything that you can help me with
It was a dry, wrapped in paper I think it was a shank ham, it’s nothing like what is sold in stores now.

We only had the ones my dad had in his smokehouse. But I do remember she using the bone for seasoning beans, cabbages etc. sorry I couldn't help, but Thanks for your support 😊

And i never forget my beloved late mom showed me how to make this cake and Thanksgiving day is her birthday and i been keeping up her tradition ever since. And yes 7up cake is her favorite and she call me up to come over one day and i did and she say Julia since you aint got nothing to do i has five people requested a order for her 7up cake.. she gave me the ingredients and her two pans and i had mine pan and nd i took the stuff home and mafe all five cakes in one day. That one experience that I will never ever firget how to make 7up cake🤣😂👍🏽 mama definitely taught me right on that. And the next day the i took them to her and she called the clunts to come and get there cake .and they pay her i believe it was $25 per cake. And they went home and called her with sooooooo many BEAUTIFUL comments about her 7up cake. She want to pay me i say no mama.. you keep the money you just made me one proud daughter of yours you taught me the best way you know how. ..this story bring tears to my eyes. And she been gone 13 yrs now and i still jeep her fond memories with me. I miss my mom and i carry her spirit in my ❤+ 🙏🏽 forever ....

What size measuring cup do you use for the sugar. Some are using the WRONG size, should be flat cup , some use a glass measuring cup ??? Thank you

Today is October 2021..Saturday night..I really enjoy watching you make delicious food. I like how you make me feel like I'm in your family. I'm 47 years old. My grandma had 8girls and 6 boys. She was married to my grandad for 53 years. I sure do miss them both. Watching your channel takes me back to good memories of them both. She was a great cook too.making tea cakes and stuff..

I've never seen a cake batter beat for Soooooo long, but it still came out tall and good looking 👍🏾So is it or is it not true, that if you beat the batter after adding the eggs, for too long the cake will be Flat, hard, dry and dense?🤔 this cake surly isn't that. Sooo I watched this video as I made the cake. And unfortunately, I didn't watch it all the way through first. I was disheartened when I get to the end and you said "oh by the way I forgot to tell ya'll I added a 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the cake flour 😡 I don't know what my cake gonna turn out like 🤷🏽♀️ for the most part though I love your videos and I love to hear you talk. I really enjoy watching you bake. I am a baker myself but I always use all purpose flour then I knooooow to put in salt but I've never made a cake with swans cake flour so I didn't know. Keep doing what you do. I love your character how you talk about your family and such. Hopefully my cake won't be too bad🤦🏽♀️ I'm a cancer patient and I really don't feel like making it over. Hello Mrs. Mae mae I just love yr videos I'm not able to Subscribe yet ,but I feel like my mother & grandmother has came back to earth to mentor me on in my baking I bake cakes as people order from me from time to time I'm having knee problems & hands but God is still good to me I hv folks who complain to but I get my fee & I apologize for my mistakes somethings aren't my fault but after that, I want my fee for baking & carrying it so many miles to them. CAKE BATTER
3 Cups (Swans Down) brand cake flour *with 1/4 teaspoon salt mixed in with the flour
1/2 vegetable shortening
5 eggs
2 sticks butter (salted or unsalted)
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon coconut extract (plus a little more maybe)
7 oz (3/4 cup) of 7 UP soda
3 cups white sugar
GLAZE
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh or bottled)
1 teaspoon 7UP)
Grease and flour a tube pan or pound cake pan

I watched this twice - I didn't see any 7-Up added to the batter? Does any 7-Up go into the batter, or does it only go in the glaze? Other recipes have the 7-Up in both the cake batter and the glaze.
