Hi Mae Mae, I was just lookin’ at different recipes, and I came across your collard greens video, and you so much remind me of my Dear Gramma. I was listenin’ to you talkin’ about your kids sayin’ how funny you are and not even realizin’ it. Well...That’s the way Gramma was. When she’d make a mistake or spill somethin’, her favorite expression was “Oh..Shoot..Gramma did it now”. Lol.. It was SO cute with her southern accent and all. I just luv the way you talk and explain things. And I know exactly what you mean when you said,” Hold on let me get my thoughts. Because it’s hard to cook and talk at the same time”. You sure ain’t lyin’ there. Because you have so many recipes and tricks to cookin’ in your head that you don’t even realize. You are one of the finest cooks there is. Your Mama must have been a GREAT cook, and that’s where you got a lot of your recipes. I’m sure you have definately learned a few of your own too. What is sad about the kids now a days, is they have no idea how precious and valuable a person like you is with your knowledge of food and cookin’. And I’m talkin’ some GOOD EATIN’. God Bless You Mae Mae, and keep those videos a comin’. Love every one of them. :-)
mama2cool55 Thank you so much for this awesome comment you really blessed me with your comment, and I thank God for it. Thank you Mrs Mae Mae you are truly a blessing♥️

Good morning Mrs. Mae Mae, I am a teacher and I have been watching your channel from the very beginning and I just love how you make your audience feel like family. I love your personality and non-scripted cooking demonstrations. Your language is simple and easy to understand for the beginner cook to the most experience cook. The elders in my family grew up in Sheffield and Tuscumbia, Alabama, so during the summer months my siblings and I grew up in Alabama. The girls were taught to cook at a very early age. I can remember getting up at the crack of dawn to help prepare breakfast and set the table with real plates, drinking glasses and real silverware for family breakfast. Everyone ate breakfast together at the dining room table and nothing was served from pots and pans on the stove. We were taught to put food in serving dishes that were placed on the table and passed around to each other after the food was blessed. The only time we could get more food from a pot or pan in the kitchen is if we were refilling an empty dish on the table. At dinner time, the process was the same! I learned about hospitality, etiquette and proper table setting at a young age. We were taught how to bake from scratch, make jelly and preserves, jar pickles, jar fruit and vegetables. I am appreciative of my up bringing. You remind me of my grandmother and great aunts who are no longer living. I thank God for you and your family and for inspiring you to start this channel. I'm always anxious to see your new videos. Sending you nothing but LOVE from Tennessee!
Hello Romona, thanks for reaching out and blessing my spirit with this wonderful comment. You just don’t know how much it lifted my spirits. It took me down memory lane if yester years in a beautiful way. I thank you so much for being obedient to Lord by sending me this. Everything you said about meal time I can absolutely relate to as it was the same way at our house. I thank God for my upbringing. I wouldn’t change it for anything. God laid it on my heart to share these recipes and I don’t question him. I thank you so much my dear sister in Christ for blessing me with this loving comment. Thanks for watching!
@@MaeMaesHappyTable Yes Ma'am. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my message. God's people have kindred hearts and nothing happens by chance, especially when it's God's will. I am thoroughly enjoying your recipes. Everytime you record a video, you invite guests from all around the world to Mrs. Mae Mae's table. I can tell that you are passionate about what you are demonstrating for us and that you have a heart for people. May God bless you and keep you!
Your joyful, honest and hilarious spirit reminds me saw much of my grandmothers. Thank you for doing these videos and I pray that God continues to bless you and your family.
I always come to your page when I’m need to know the right way to cook something I don’t know how to cook so I’m about to try this cornbread. I also did my fried chicken the way you did on the video and it really was the best I’ve ever made. I didn’t have any grandparents when I was growing up so I have you to go to when I need a little help in the kitchen. Thank you so much, you have been such a blessing!
Ms. Mae Mae, you have really done my heart some good. I ran across your channel. You remind me so much of my grandmother. She passed back in 1990. The way you cook she did the same. She raised me and I use to watch her cook. I am almost in tears over here. I miss her soooo much. You remind me of her. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
😊HI Mae Mae, today's my first time to watch your video. I love learning new recipes, I love the way you talk with me. I am blessed to find you on this show. Bless you for all your work and time. Virginia Sue Davis (Ginnie) Little Rock, Arkansas USA
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My momma passed October 18.You are help healing my heart from sorrow by watching you cook remembering my childhood!!! God bless you. New subscriber.
Dear Mae Mae, I'm so happy that I discovered your channel!! You are such a blessing to me. You remind me so much of the precious lady, Mom Mable, who helped to raise us 4 kids. Even though we were little white children, she called us her children. We loved her so very much!! She loved us, fed us, and taught us about Jesus! She was so patient and kind. You are so much like her. Many days, she made us this cornbread along with all those greens, peas, corn, etc .. I'm just so happy that you are here for us along with your wonderful southern cooking!! I pray that God continues to bless you and prospers your channel!!! I'll be watching!!♥️
I love you, Ms Mae Mae! You are everything good and decent that’s left in this world. Thank you for being you. We’ve lost the times when we can get together and witness a recipe come to life. It breaks my heart when you can’t even look at another person without getting shot. Stay who you are; you will be blessed.
I just love me some her!! She is so sweet, patient & always give safety advice as well. Thanks for helping me cook some fabulous hot water c'bread. 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
Hey Mrs. Mae Mae I thank God for you. My mother has gone on to glory. So I can't ask her about different meals. So I go to UA-cam and look for you . Thank you for being there for us who have lost their mother's cause I know she would make it just like you do, with love. May God continue to bless you and your family ❤
Thank you for all these Southern recipes! I lived in Louisiana for 11 years and I'm ashamed to say that I could never get it right!...my biscuits either! But I'm going to practice BEFORE I try to say, "I made this myself!" I promise to tell them who taught me. Since this pandemic is keeping me closer to home my favorite spot is in the kitchen and I'll be watching. I think I'll try your potato salad next since summer's coming. I'll let you know. Thanks again!
I’m getting ready to DO IT right now!❤ I love that you show the entire process so I can understand everything involved. This is one recipe I do not want to get wrong! Thanks so much!🎉
I always cook hot water corn bread, but I've never put butter in mines. I'm glad I saw your recipe. I will be making my hot water cb using your recipe. I've made several of your recipes and omg. These recipes are the truth! Thank you Ma' Mae.💖💖💖 I love old fashion cooking. I just love to eat good food period! Lol😊
When I was little person I always enjoyed watching my grandma prepare dinner for her grands, watching you made me think about those good times, now I gotta cook for myself so I'm gaining some more knowledge with the Hot Water Corn Bread recipe. Thank you for sharing this with us I myself am very grateful lots love in that kitchen!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Miss. Mae Mae, I so appreciate your sincerity. I love how you are choosing to past down not only recipe’s and stories but caring for those that will come behind you. When I hear and see you on your channel I think of me in the kitchen with my Big Momma. Continue to past it on! You and husband are encouraging to us who think we can’t try new things like FB, and UTube! I normally watch you via TV so u don’t see all of my LIKES! But I had to get in tonight and write you a note Ps, I love your dresses! Yes it does matter!
Hi Mae Mae, You sound so like my Aunt Ruth. She lived in Louisiana and her Southern accent was wonderful. She, too, was a wonderful cook. I am so pleased you are doing Hot water Cornbread. My mother made the best. I've only found two other places that made it as good as mother. Mother just used cornmeal and salt and boiling water and was it ever good with greens and just about everything she cooked. I miss my mother's cooking and I am so thankful to have You Tube and all of you good Southern cooks to revive the recipes that she made. She passed away before I realized how important some of the things she made would be to me. Thank you so much for your spin on the fried cornbread. I hope your holidays are laced with wonder and happiness.
Oh my goodness listening to you is like sitting in my mommy's kitchen listening to her. I love your recipes as much as I love listening to you. MY mommy is longer with us so your videos really bless me. I can hear the love in your voice. Thank you.
I am enjoying these recipes it is such a help on recipes I forgot can you do a video on how to fix a old fashion fruit cake enjoying watching North Carolina
This is such a blessing. I stumbled upon your channel an made me smile. You brought back so many memories of when l was a child in the kitchen with my grandmother. I haven't had hot water cornbread in so many years. I'm going to have to get myself back into the kitchen and cook up my special friend a good meal. I definitely will be following you and using your recipes. You cook like my grandmother. Blessings to you for sharing your heart with the word.
I am so glad I found this channel. Oh my Lord you be tearing the kitchen up! You made day with that recipe for fried pigs feet and I have been watching you every since. May God continue to bless and keep you, your family and loved ones. We both have the same motto which makes us kindred spirits and sisters in Christ. Please know without doubt that your living is NOT in vain. Don't let anyone tell you any different.
May May I saw a man who did your fried pig feet for the first time. His enjoymentt was obvious. I hope to make them plus this cornbread this weekend. God Bless you and Tuck.
Beautiful Mrs. Mae Mae.....you remind me of those darlin' southern Mommas from my home town, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. May your channel continue to grow as you teach us these old downhome recipes. Much Love.
Fun to watch and make all the good things you show us! I just heard about hot water corn bread/pancakes this past week. Tell you the truth I am so excited to make these! Thank you so very much. They will be for a very special occasion, so keep your fingers crossed for me that turn out as great as yours! Love you❤ and God bless you!
Hi Mrs. Mae Mae, ma'am u cook like my grandma and talk like her too. When I first say u I was mesmerized and became hungry, lol. Granny. Made sure I ate good food bc my moma can't boil water. I'm making Thanksgiving dinner and I'm making this and the collards you and ur hubby made. Never thought about wiping them down like u did,I would wash them with salt, boil them and pour off the first water. Then I would cook them with smoked hocks. Then they created Gliry greens in the bag already cleaned. Well I would wash them over but they dont taste like the fresh greens in bushes that need to be properly cleaned. Anyway thank you ma'am I live in South Holland, Illinois. My family gone be happy I watched Ms. MAE MAE cooking. Girl u are awesome in that kitchen stop worrying bout how u talk it MAKING mistakes u r doing fine.

I love, love, love your cooking show. So nice to experience the good old old school soul food. Also love your UA-cam personality. Be encouraged and keep on keeping on 👩🏾🍳👩🏾🍳👩🏾🍳❤!
Have you ever tried putting leftover grits from breakfast into your hot water cornbread? My mother used do that instead of throwing the grits out when we had some left. They were simply delicious. I’ve never tried the self rising meal before, but yours look good so I’m going to try your way instead of regular corn meal. God bless and keep going on with your fantastic job cooking . Prayers to you and family 🙏🙏
Hey Ms. Jewell thanks for sharing that tip with me….. and I had never did that before nor had I ever heard of it before, but my common sense make me guess it would be good 😊 I have a question though; did your mother add the leftover grits after or before she mix up the meal and hot water, since the grits are already done? The reason I’m asking is because I enjoy 😉 trying old landmark style cooking and this sounds like a good 👍🏽 one and I might try it. Again thanks for sharing 🥰🙏🏾😇
I love you Mrs. Mae Mae, you're the closest I can get to my mama and my Aunt Margaret and grandma Lela. All of your recipes are awesome. I can't pick up the phone and call my mama, auntie, or grandma anymore, they've gone on to Glory...so whenever I need to know how to make something I go straight to your channel. God bless you 🙏cause I'm making this hot water cornbread tonight for my cabbage and collards 😋
Oh , it's such a blessing to be through of I'm such an endearing way Thanks for taking the time to send me such a endearing kind comment, you have really blessed me with your comment Thanks and God bless you and your family 💞😍🙏🏿
Grandma Mae Mae, wow I love ❤️ watching your show. I pray that the good Lord blesses with with a special portion of his anointing to give you a long great and prosperous life. I’m learning so much from your videos. I own a soul food restaurant in Wilmington, NC. The food is amazing. My mother cooked out of her house 🏠 for 40 years. This is how my mother took care of her kids, even after daddy died when I was 11. I admire you older women that cook 👩🍳 because they know how to work that kitchen. Please add a video for me: some candies yams 🍠 and some homemade oyster stuffing. Thank you 🙏🏾 so so much. We love ❤️ you a bunch and may God continue yo bless you and your family abundantly.
Ramona Ragin Ramoma the first thing I want to say is thank you so much for this kind wonderfully soul blessing comment. If you only knew how much it means to me you would totally understand why I know your comment blesses me so. I really enjoyed reading your comment, you have a inspiring story of how your mother cooked meal from her house to help the family after your father passed. And now you're a restaurant owner ( God Grace) this the kind of story that needs to be put in books and movies made about. These are the positive memories Of our community I can relate to and I'm sure so many other in my generation and before me. I have a candid sweet potato video already, please check it out. Now with the oyster stuffing I only had that a few times my grandmother use to make it, my never did . But I will do some research on it to see if I can find a recipe similar to my memory of hers. Once again thanks so much for watching my video and your encouraging comment. May God continue to bless you and your family 🙏🏿👼🏿😍
My daughter is impressed with your simple style of cooking, I was surprised. She's been searching for a cornbread dressing recipe and yours caught caught her attention. She's the family cook now, so we both appreciate you, welcome aboard. Your name is so easy to remember, I like it. I'm collecting your recipes on my email save list and share and also share with others. Keep up the good work. You are for real. !! 😍
May may I'm a northern girl but I have Southern roots I appreciate the Southern style foods that you prepare and share , All of my elders from the South have gone on to glory.I enjoyed watching grandma make hot water cornbread fried cabbage the list is EndlessPerhaps one day if I visited the South I would enjoy sitting my feet under your table, take care and continue the videos

But I had to get in tonight and write you a note
Ps, I love your dresses! Yes it does matter!
Love your hotwater cornbread❤
This was my Sunday favorite. I'm now 61 and still crave my aunt's hot water cornbread. I would sneak as much as possible when dinner was over. 😋 yummy
❤ thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness listening to you is like sitting in my mommy's kitchen listening to her. I love your recipes as much as I love listening to you.

Haha I just love you and I sure love your heart! Thank you for living it out loud! ❤

Wow I wish I was raised around you. You love to talk and believe me I love to listen. I am inspired. Thank you so much!
Good day Ms. Mae Mae,
My name is Una.

Love your cooking methods
We use the plain cornmeal, too. Will try the self rising kind. Looks good!
Yes I have not that much though
I love hot water cornbread with fish and spaghetti...
Oh , it's such a blessing to be through of I'm such an endearing way
Thanks for taking the time to send me such a endearing kind comment, you have really blessed me with your comment
Thanks and God bless you and your family 💞😍🙏🏿
Hello Mea Mea's Happy Table I enjoyed your video. You did a great job on the hot water cornbread. Please have a blessed day.
Mae mae I grew up on hot water cornbread with butter milk... I love it... thank you for sharing this video god bless you.
This recipe really makes me nostalgic for my childhood. My mom and most cooks in my family used to make this delicious corn bread on top of the stove. Thanks for the memories. I will be making this soon.
