- Welcome to our secret and wee bit selfish sewing circle! This week we are designing and sewing the exterior of My Sewspire City Slicker Tote Bag. This particular design is crafted from a medium weight twill and has a laminated cotton base for maximum durability / wipe ability as well as 6 exterior pockets, a zippered top closure, short handles and a removable messenger strap which can be worn cross body or over the shoulder. The bag will be come together in approximately three 30 minute video sessions with the first session being released 3/25/16, the second on 4/1/16 and the third on 4/8/16. Additional photos and discussion of the process will take place over on the Sewspire.com blog, Instagram, Facebook and here on UA-cam. If you enjoy this project you may want to also subscribe to this channel and the blog to ensure you receive notice of our future sewing circle projects. Feel free to post pictures of your work in progress on any of the aforementioned social medium platforms (you can find direct links on the blog) as I love to see your projects come together! XO, Andrea

Thank you Carol!
So easy to follow your tutorial. Your camera work is great. I put my screen to full size to be able to see everything. Will pull up tutorial 2 and 3 right after this. Can't wait to see the rest. Thanks for sharing your method.
Really lovely and convenient.
Thank you sew much, the bag is a great size and very pretty and functional. Love it, Jess

Thank you Andrea for your hard work. I have done many of your projects and they're so much fun. I look forward to every Thursday when your newest project comes outs. Hi Andrea, you really do make sewing look easy and you give some great technique that helps achieve some great looking items.
Cheers Margi.
Thank you for sharing Margi! ❤️
great tutorial. new subscriber.
Hi Andrea, I have just sent you pictures through email of my finished exterior part of this bag. again, thank you so much.
Just got a chance to check my email and I love it! You are doing a really fabulous job and I am so excited to see the finished bag. Thank you for sharing pictures with me. Happy sewing! Andrea
I have no desire to follow a pattern. LOLOLOL. I thought it was just me. I would swear I have horrible attention deficit challenges - directions are my nemesis.
Where do you sew your tags in your bags? I can't decide if I should put them on the inside or the outside.
Sometimes on the outside if they match; but, most of the time on the interior pockets.
what kind of fabric is the black. Maybe duck or some kind of outdoor fabric that would be easy to sew. My sewing does not like thick seams. I use size 16 needles
What kind of machine do you have Janice?
Quilt 4.0 Pfaff Expression
I have not had the pleasure of sewing on a Pfaff. I would suggest you trim the seams as close as possible to reduce the bulk and then use binder clips to compress the seams for a day or two before you stitch. I have also hammered bigger seams before to compress them.
good idea to use a hammer thanks
What kind of that fabric you used? So shiny?
+Sewspire did u made it or you can just buy it at store?
+Mae Zimmerman you can find it at fabric.com
+Sewspire thank you
Your session was very interesting, but I didn't get any sound.
Hmm, sorry Judy, not sure what was happening.
What size needle do you use?
90/14 works great for bag designing
Place scotch tape on the bottom of your pressure foot and it should glide across your vinyl/ oilcloth fabric.
Thank you Kevin! I'm gonna give that a try!
You're welcome!
The sound was not loud enough my speakers were on the highest volume
Yes, in my earlier videos I did not have a microphone attached. So sorry. XO, Andrea
I use my headset
I thought the volume level was great!
