OK I have to say when I first saw this video I first thought to myself there’s no way I’m doing this. However, I watched it at least five more times and realized it was pretty simple, just had a lot of screws to take out. Then thought about the pros and cons of buying a new TV vs trying to fix mine and it made sense to just spend 50 bucks for new backlights and try to replace them rather than just right away order a new TV. I put the TV on a towel on my bed and followed the video step-by-step and my TV is working perfectly now. Thank you so much for sharing this. You saved me $400!

I diagnosed using the flashlight test and the screen looks to be fine, just needs LED strips.
I received the LED light strips I ordered today then searched for a video on how to install. The install looks a bit tedious but I’ve done worse 😊.
Remarkably you are the one I ordered the strips from (great transaction btw) I received them very quickly and loved the fact I didn’t have to wait for shipping from China. I believe you are the only one on eBay selling and shipping these strips in the USA. Thanks!
I’ll comment again once I’ve completed the repair.

Ok, we're encouraged now. So glad you sell the parts needed. We will have to watch this several times to really understand, but it's doable. Best tutorial. Thank you 😊

So following up on my comment from a few days ago. I replaced the light strips today and TV looks great!
My screws for disassembly/assembly were slightly different but if you pay attention to this video it’s not a big obstacle.
I don’t like how much of the TV is snap together but I managed not to break any locking tabs.
Thanks for the great video! Saved me some cash by having the parts and this video on installing them.

Suction cups are a must, !!! There is type A and Type B strips !!! Use cardboard with drawings to organize the screws. Put double sided tape in between screw holes. Tape filter layers on all 4 corners. When assembling back make sure you have nothing in between filter layers and behind the screen.

I never thought of cutting out the LED strip, but after busting multiple tabs or spending countless hours fiddling around trying to get at the strips, this seems like the most efficient way of repair while still maintaining the integrity of the lighting.
    Great method!

You all know manufacturer could have made this easier to be repair but still they make it so complicated that you have to remove the most delicate part from the TV just to get it fixed all they need to do is put some sort of removable slot that you can unscrew it from the back of the TV and replace the strips

So some guy who doesn't know what they are doing thinks he can poke at it while it is plugged in. These companies put millions of dollars into protecting themselves from lawsuits.

A few of the circle plastic bubbles on the LED strip fell off a few strips. Are they broken or should I just glue them back on?
    Thanks in advance

How did you know which strip was bad. Getting black screen on mine after Toshiba icon screen comes on. Power cycle used to work to bring picture back on.

What I've learned from this excellent video is to not try this myself. Just got a quote for $200, too high for a 10-yr-old set, but hate to throw away an otherwise perfect piece of electronics. Why do Toshiba screens go black after 10 minutes so often?!?

I was fighting with this problem for about a year before someone said that the Toshiba black screen of death was actually the LED backlight issue. So now I'm off on a repair adventure

TCL Roku TV 55S405TDAA Screen has gone dim, but viewable. Flashes Bright at times. Sometimes is normal. Have tried all screen, and brightness adjustments. Reset with remote button sequence, Reset button on back panel, and drained capacitor holding down power button behind standby LED. Naturally system restart, including unplugging. As mentioned, sometimes works normal for hours. Although not so much lately. This all started a month or so ago.

mine does the same thing. apparently when the LED's are dead the computer in the TV doesn't get the right voltage reading and then it turns off the TV into protection mode so it doesn't fry itself. Apparently the way to solve the Toshiba Chomecast TV black screen of death is to replace the LED backlight!. Who knew?!
