No she wasn't. She was bland and underdeveloped. And most of the time she never really did anything. She was just there. And she got her ass kicked all the time. She was like Worf, but with no character development.

She was awesome what do you mean, Suki is one of the cooler characters in the show and pretty much got all the screen time her character warranted(which is really quite a lot for a character that wasn’t a main protagonist or antagonist) even though she was awesome she didn’t have much arc sadly.
Elementer If she wasn’t there they wouldn’t have stopped the 100 year war. Azula would have captured Appa. Toph wouldnt be there to help them take down the fire nation fleet. She would’ve drowned a long time ago. She wouldn’t be there to take the fleet down either, and sokka wouldn’t be able to do it himself. She helped get them through the Serpents Pass. She was a little less developed because she was at the boiling rock. It was part of the plot to have her in prison, so they didn’t have much of a chance to give her development in the show. But she has more development in the books, and forms a bond with Zuko and some of the other members of the gaang.

Suki is by far my favorite female character in Avatar. I love the whole warrior woman trope. I fell in love with her the moment she humiliated Sokka in a sparring session for being a sexist jerk, something Katara was never really able to do despite being a strong girl on her own.

Toph was like 10, i think Suki trusted Sokka was not going to do anything. Or see her as more then a child.
Toph had a big crush on Sokka because he was the first person to treat her like a part of a real family, because he treated her like a sister. He treated her very much like he treated Katara. He wanted to protect her, but he also allowed her to protect herself and grow.
Toph fell for him over this. But she never had a chance. Suki knew this. And she trusted him. I think if your worried your 17/18 year old boyfriend will make moves on a 10/12 year old blind girl you probably need to evaluate your relationship.

Considering that Mai's relationship with Zuko is still unfolding in the comic, and is still the center of their plot, i sincerely doubt that Suki would ever be a logical choice over Mai. I Also doubt that the creators of the comics would set out to tear down the couples that their fans fell in love with, such as Suki and Sokka. Incidentally, Suki and Sokka do continue romantically in the comics.
Also, if there is something that can be taken from the message the creators of Avatar have tried to convey with Suki, right from the start, is that a female character does not need to be attracted or attached to a man to have significance to the world.

I just finished the Imbalance comics and Suki and Sokka are still going strong there (which I'm really happy about). And I'm really pleased to know that the creators gave her more spotlight this time.
I want Zuko to date Jin shes way nicer then Mai when Zuko and Iroh went to Bay Sing Se they worked in this old Tea shop and their was girl that Zuko thought that was a spy and when she was done her tea she asked Zuko if you want to go on a date, Zuko didnt want to go but Iroh walked in and said je woukd love to go! When Jin saw Zuko she rubbed his head and Zuko said my uncle took ten minutes to do my hair. Thye went to a restaurant it was awkward at first and then Jin asked where he was from snd he said we travel a lot and she asked why and he said uh were a traveling circus.Jin asked Zuko to juggle but when he tried everything fell. He said i haven't juggled in a while.When they were done Jin let him to this place she loved! When they got their the lanterns weren't lit so Zuko said close your eyes and when she did Zuko lit hpthem with his fire bending Jin asked how did you do thiz?!? Zuko didnt say how.Then Jin said close your eyes i have a surprise for you! When he did she held his cheek and kissed him and Zuko kissed her back. Then he leaned away and Jin asked whats the matter and he said it complicated. >:( Jin was the perfect girl! Unlike Mai when she got upset she literally just brakes up with Zuko! Oh and this was episode uhhhh ill say it later

The show’s creators said (and it’s been years so you’d have to google this) that Sokka holding a flower lei the next day at camp was a joke that he had “got laid” and Suki had been “de-flowered”.

Moon is indeed tsuki in japanese represented as 月 (つき), it is also month but that is besides the point. However, Suki = 好き (すき) is to like or to be fond of.
Having said that, your point still stands. It could be an easter egg, a play on words or a pun refering to both like and that it only needs a t to mean moon, or complete accident. Either way, you were right.
Out of all the nonbenders in this show, and that includes legend of korra, Suki is hands down the best fighter

She was gutsy enough to take on a chi-blocker, an expert knife thrower, and a fire bending prodigy by herself. Yes, she lost, but damn, that took some serious courage.
I really hope that it will be revealed as a surprise that Sokka's a dad and they've been living together somewhere we've just not seen yet. However it's also sadly possible that Suki was killed in action, as she's not the type to run.

I generally love how ATLA has so many strong female characters, but everyone of them has their own flaws and their own package to deal with. Suki however doesn't have that emotional of a character or backstory, yet she stays one of the best. She kinda is like Toph, not really her own outstanding character, but a character to bring out the best of the others. Suki is that kind of friend who has your back when everything else fails, that's why she is so great. ^-^

-Suki didn't tell others that she was a strong independent lady. She showed them that she was strong by demonstrating her martial arts and also stunts.
-The after series comic books are kinda ok to me.
-I agree that LoK is shit. Fuck LoK for shunning away most of the aftermath life of team Aang such as not telling more about the life of Sokka and Suki, Zuko's family and others.
-Having Ty Lee and Suki with Sokka is kinda wrong imo. Suki is just fine. I wager that Ty Lee went for Zuko after he broke up with Mai but that didn't happen because the writer for the script of the comics mentioned that both Mai and Zuko reunited 3 years after Smoke and Shadow. And also Zuko's daughter was named after Izumi which means fountain in Japanese. Remember the place where Zuko saved Mai from getting her hair burnt off?
She and Toph have what’s called a “flat character arc”. There’s nothing wrong with this kind of approach. It’s actually one of the many known ways you can write a character, even a main character. Instead of having a substantial amount of character development and noticeable change in their arc,( their beliefs and morals being challenged or being affected by their surroundings and others they encounter), they instead serve as the opposite and stay steady with their morals, and by putting them into an encounter with another character, instead of change themselves, they instead help other characters to change and grow.

@Hydra Sokka met Korra when she was only a young girl. In TLOK, it was said that Zuko and Sokka helped in protecting Korra when The Red Lotus tried to kidnap her the first time.
In my first rewatch since Korra was airing I never realized how good and important of a character Suki was! Her kidnapping the warden has to be one of the best non bending sequences in all of the show

I thought that Kioshi Island was created by Avatar Kioshi?
I am referencing the episode where Aang is accused of murder on the Avatar Day Episode.
It was originally a peninsula with a very small part of it touching land which is where Kyoshi was born on. She later separated it from that small part of land to make the peninsula an island. So she was born there, but it wasn't Kyoshi island yet

A theory I have taking away her bending may completely destroy her mentally making sure she would never recover mentally. The more likely reason is Azula would be far less threatening without any bending. She was a such a good villain nerfing would hurt her threat levels in other comics

Reading through the comments I’m so bloody tired of people spreading the misinformation of Suki having a crush on Zuko. There’s literally nothing to suggest it. I’ve read the comics the and the things people often point to for this theory are so far fetched. Like oh wow Suki says she’s “worried about him”. *sarcastically* Oh my god there’s clear ROMANTIC UNDERTONES. Only she’s lovingly reuniting with and kissing Sokka a few pages later. Or how about Zuko blushing at Suki? Except no, he’s blushing at the thought of Mai. Anyway enough of my mini-rant.

She was protecting her city/village from Chin the conqueror. It was also revealed to be her birthplace in that episode.
it was originally called Yokoya (before she created the island) and Kyoshi was abandoned by her parents in that village when she was 7, so she practically grew up there
No no she was born in that small village and raised there when chin threatened to destroy it she did what she can to protect it and thus getting the name “Kyoshi Island”

Yeah Sokka and Korra characters would be really cool, but I don't think there is enough comic material yet for a lot of the Korra characters for there stories after the show. We will just have to wait for Ruins of the Empire and other comics for more.

LOK was fine and I liked it. The reason Suki and Sokka aren’t mentioned much is because the comics and side stories are still developing their relationship- as well as a lot of other ones. LOK didn’t want to juggle too many characters either. It takes place over 60 years later, so stop complaining it doesn’t have any content with the atla characters and just read the comics.
Luna Pyrope you don’t need to juggle the characters to tell the viewer their fates, and if you rely on comic books to help your tv show that much, you’re doing something wrong

@@jeroenboth167 they say its gonna be a live action reboot which im not too fond of the idea i mean if they doubled the length of each episode to 40 mins vs the series 20 they can add more to the story and go beyond the ending we got but its supposedly 3 books split into 5 to 7 seasons but again im not too fond of the idea unless it adds to the narrative theyre really just better off making 3 more seasons to the cartoon eventually we might get to the setup for korra i mean season 4 could be what this guys showing us in the immediate aftermath.
Season 5 could be the gang settling into their adult life and the kids having an adventure of their own bleeing into season 6 with setting up the 1st season for korra and there we go wed have 10 whole seasons of avatar with korra now being an extension of the last airbender we might be looking at korra in a whole new context 😉

The thing that i liked most in this video is suki's relationship with zuko altogether. they first encountered each other on bad terms, but afterwards suki literally pledged loyalty to zuko altogether. as a reader, i feel assured to see a flawed character like zuko to have someone this loyal looking after him.

I like how they both switch between the damsel and the knight up until the end of season three when Sokka finally grew a pair and finally did something useful in battle and didn’t have to get saved by everyone. A good part of his development was probably his relationship with Suki, because as soon as that started he actually had something to fight furiously for, rather than just occasionally helping the Avatar and the other benders. And it put even more pressure on him because he had no bending, and in order to get protect his girl he had to get really good at sword fighting, because of his lack of bending, so the pressure was really on for him and it’s nice to see that he pushed through

I honestly think the fandom itself ruined a lot of ships including SukixSokka. I remember either reading or hearing interviews with the creators talking about the crazy fan theories they'd read or the earbeatings they'd get about romantic couples in Avatar.

I read the comics built a close friendship between Zuko and Suki because they didn’t interact much in the show. Also Zuko eventually got back together with Mai cause it was confirmed that Mai is the mother of Izumi, Zuko’s daughter.
I always thought Suki was cool but as a kid I wanted to be Katara but now that I’m older I want to be Suki because she’s so tough yet still girly
