I'm Korean and I just moved to Yokosuka, not knowing much about Japanese cuisine. I was so confused the first time I tasted Umeboshi! In Korea we pickle/ferment them too, but in a very very sweet way. So the Japanese salty Ume was a cultural shock! This video is so educational and inspiring, I can't wait to experience with Umeboshi now!

My favorite condiment ever!! I have to get family members send it to me from other countries as its almost impossible to find where i live. I just found another way to eat it and its delicious!: fry an egg and leave the center runny. I spread the umeboshi on whole wheat toasted bread, add the egg on top with some spring onion and a drizzling of sesame oil. Absolutely delicious! Or just eat them like a snack or with some rice and Katsuoboshi😊 i wish i could get it more often, such a treat
