These things are becoming somewhat of a not very well hidden gem... It seems to have taken a couple of years for them to gain traction, but I'm seeing more and more of them around - ever since I got my RS420 I've been completely in love with them - great rock and blues machines! You make it sing too :-).
I ordered a Gibson SG. It arrived with its fretboard separating from the neck at the nut😳. I just wanted a bare bones mahogany humbucker guitar. So I sent it back, listened to you and others (you, Brett Kingman, and John Bolinger really sounded great!)videos, and ordered an RS820CR. Now I’m waiting impatiently 😆
Thanks! Yeah, it's a 720B (same as yours), except it's in that kind of worn sunburst-esque colour. I think it's called "Wall Fade," or something. Best guitar I've played out of the box (set-up wise), and I used to have a PRS CE24... Got the Yammie for only 899AU$ (around 500 quid)... [benefits of knowing the store owner] :) And of course, your playing is mind-blowing as usual! These are the best sounds on this guitar in the entire of UA-cam. I'm 100% sure it's all in those hands! :)
Hi Mike!! I recommend you to check out a young revstar player from Italy named Matteo Mancuso!! He is as young as incredibly talented.. His fusion trio is named Snips!! I think I’ve never seen someone playing that well and so effortlessly
Стас Көваль I don’t exactly recall but it was on Sweetwater I believe and was in like the 700 dollar range maybe. All black with white lining I think, rosewood fretboard and p90’s which was most appealin as I don’t have one. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been thinking about it sometimes since haha
Yamaha have always made great instruments! Some quibble about the pups on the electrics and change them out to their satisfaction but Yamaha never made a less than professional quality instrument whether it be a guitar, piano, synth or motorcycle! And I've owned two Yamaha gats, played yamaha grands, own an AN1x synth and rode an RD350 in the 70s!🤣 Nice playing here, sustained improvised ideas clearly inspired by the tones generated. Suspect, with no disrespect, that this guitar is designed to cut thru a mix rather than be played "solo".... Nice tones. Enjoyed how you moved thru the gain stages to show us what it could do. Loved that you let the gat do the talking even more! 10/10 review.
Dude, that was sick! Sick slick licks! And that smile when you fck around with stuff, like those natural harmonics, it's just love for the music and guitar. I don't have skills of that level, but watching this makes me want to pick up the guitar right now and play around a bit. But first I have to pick up the baby, he's hungry. 😁
Ive got exactly the same model 820b. Mike makes his sound just a bit better than mine however ha ha . Yamaha make great guitars and this one is no exception really is a cool guitar. Picked mine up on Ebay boxed brand new for less than half price couldn't believe my luck. No bids then with a short time left on auction offered about £350 sold, absolute bargain. Having said that the guitar is worth far far more than I actually paid about £700 ish .
Mike it would be realllllllly sick if you could have all the 'It's a ..... thing' videos as actual songs on spotify so I can listen to them on the go and just chill
I've never pulled the trigger on a les paul because everytime I find one I fancy I compare it to my 1977 yamaha SG500 and have never yet found one that is better.
yeah man, I own a LP special (custom shop), a SG 61 reissue, a american strat loaded with BKP pups, a PRS DGT (normal. not private stock) and a Ibanez AKJ for jazz stuff. Love them all, none is better than the other (although price points vary GREATLY), but the revstar might be just my favorite all around, I can easily go from jazz to drop D riffs in it. just love it.
W S Yeah, I had a 1983 SG1000, and it was definitely better than any Les Paul. It even topped the 1990 PRS small factory Custom 24 I had at the same time.

I like so much this video-test and this awsome guitar. What do you think about the versatility of this guitar? can you play hard rock or some metal songs?. The filtertron style pickups are vinculate with rockabilly, jazz or blues, but I listen a big spectre of sounds on video-tests of this guitar. Other question, the "dry switch" really changes considerably the sound?. Thanks for your great work and greetings.
Wow. Great demo! Reckon you have just singlehandedly doubled the 2nd hand price on these guys😏. Seriously though Mike , great playing and tones... awesome. Quick question if you don’t mind, how stable is the tuning with that bigsby? Cheers.

A Beginner Guitarist's View ive played one before. Love them. But im paying off a $700 65 gibson melody maker rn.
I played a Revstar 620 at the Guitar Show in Birmingham and fell flat out in love with it.
Awesome guitar playing
That overdriven Tone was amazing.
Thank you my man! :)

Great to hear buddy, hope you enjoy the guitar :)
Cool guitar + Super clean playing
Perfecto!
Love your videos, man. Great timing, too! I was just heading out to get me a Revstar!
Oooh nice one! Let me know how you get on with it.

Love your playing, dude. So much feel there... Really cool guitar btw
Put in good pick ups and it's a gem
Revstar is very good guitar
Tasty playing as ever Mike..
YOU ARE THE MAN. And I really like that extra camera angle from up close.

Is this an original piece? Regardless was soothing to listen to at the end of the day. Thanks Mike!
Thanks Sam, I literally hit record and went off on one haha.
This whole thing was so sick
Thanks so much buddy, great to hear you enjoyed it!
DUDE. That wah bend at 9:00 was killer! Love your work Mike 👍
Shiiit now I really wanna pull the trigger on one of these... thanks
Do it! They're an awesome range of guitars (I own one of the cheaper models and even that is really good) :-)
which exactly? I have the 520
Стас Көваль 420 😀
I am in the same boat!

Pick up that guitar!! :)
Mike Bradley I did for a couple of hours when the baby fell asleep. Much fun!

Now that is a bargain!! enjoy it my friend!
That’s a sweet guitar and I love that spanky twangy attack!
Amazing playing :D

I share an MP3 on Patreon buddy, be sure to check it out :)
5:15 onwards for about a minute...am i the only person imagining a double delay and Brian May playing Brighton Rock ?
The higher end yamahas are as good as any guitars out there.
owner of an yamaha RSP revstar - its not one milimiter behind my gibsons, fenders or prses. Its possibily my favorite, actualy.
I've never pulled the trigger on a les paul because everytime I find one I fancy I compare it to my 1977 yamaha SG500 and have never yet found one that is better.

Sir Bradders 👍
one word: damn
Funky.
And that´s how a guitar must be shown.

Justen Stoodley I,ve got the same guitar and both the tuning and trem is very stable !
Thanks for the kind words Justen, Tuning seems to be all good, always give the strings a good stretch, and all should be good.
Locking tuners on these.
It sounds really cool man.. is it like a 335 style it doesn’t look semi hollow body but sounds really bluesy. Anyway sounds great
Thank You Bruce :)
hi
Hi Zachary
You're an awsome guitarist but I am not convinced by the guitar. I prefer when you're playing the strat.
Great video but the guitar snob in me would never buy a Yamaha lol. Anyone ever played a guild m120e thinking of getting one
Nice playing. How does the neck feel?
Dan Crowell It has a beatiful neck with a solid feel and perfect fretwork ! I’d call the neck a large C.
I really like it, feels similar to my 345.
Mike just sold some guitars, I think.
hahaha.. Damn, I should get a commission! haha
