I think the revstar has the perfect balance of looking modern and retro at the same time. I guess it’s a timeless design.
Also thank you Chris for including the Tied up in blue solo to kick off. That song has helped me immeasurably since it’s release. I lost my mother last April and one thing we really bonded over was our love of music ( which she gave to me ) we would regularly show each other “new” music we had found that we thought the other would love. My mother would’ve loved Cardinal Black and Tom’s soulful, perfectly delivered lyrics. I initially felt a real sadness listening to the song that I wouldn’t get to share this with mother, but listening to it knowing she would’ve shared my love for it also gave me a sense of joy. To this day it’s still my favourite on January Came close. ( sorry for the long comment )

Sorry for your loss and the other’s posts and their losses. I’m having a bad day today. I’ve lost my dad and then
my mom. Really missing them today. Very close with my mom. I noticed Tom is the writer of a lot of these great songs. Between Chris’s great playing, Tom’s soulful words and voice including Taye doing background vocals, the best drummer I’ve heard in awhile and a great bass player and keyboards this group will be around a long time. I’m certain of it. Every song’s a hit. And as I said every member is top notch.

Even Epiphone in the same ball park issue guitars with good pots and even with seymour Duncan p90's ( Gold Glory). Yamaha is a love/hate relationship as I have with my RSS20. They also should care more about the setup of teir standards. All these points make the brand having selling issues. Just my 2cents

As an artist with Yamaha's ear, let them know that lefties want a P90 version as well. Also, it would be nice to mention other players want Nitro for the reasons you mentioned. I think it's the thing missing with modern guitars, that we want a guitar that will age with us and change with us and would even be willing to shell out a few extra dollars for it.

I've been a guitarist since shortly after the Plague, and I've played them all. I even wrote copy for various Yamaha product lines back in Tokyo. I came back to the U.S. with a custom-built ESP Craft House superstrat, thinking it was the business. My friend had acquired a Yamaha SBG 1300TS, and he wanted to know what I thought. It-was-INCREDIBLE. I did everything I could to obtain that instrument, and it remains one of my all-time favorites. My brother recently gave me a 1980 SSC 500, and it too is incredible.

When did you do this copy-writing? People who collect catalogs have scanned them and put them online, and I enjoy looking at them, both in Japanese and English. (I live in Japan.) I have the AC6R, which was/is an limited edition acoustic-electric, and it is amazing!

Nice discussion, Chris. I ended up with a Yamaha SA “by accident” when I went looking for a semi-hollowbody and they had a used one - just one! - available. It played so well! It beat all the competition (because I didn’t have Gibson money) and I have been loving it more all the time. Great guitars at fair or better prices.

You speak every bit as well as you play. Your tone and playing stand out as yours alone. As much as I love the character of Les Pauls or Strats, it is refreshing that the blues/rock sound you are best known for stands apart from either of those classic flavors. While a Strat or LP in your hands is easily identifiable as Chris Buck's playing, it is the Revstar's tone that, for me, marks your playing best. For sharing your music, thoughts and experience... Cheers.

    Chris,
As a fellow musician, what amazes me about Yamaha is whatever instrument they make, it’s great!! I’m a brass player, and Yamaha trumpets, French horns, trombones, tubas….anything made by them is great!! Same thing for their strings, woodwinds and percussion..they’re amazing because most companies specialize in one type of instrument..Yamaha makes ‘em all, and they’re all great!! No, I don’t work for them….

I've owned 2 Revstars now. Both being the RS02T from 2016 and now the RSS02T from their revamped and newly released standard range. I absolutely love them. Yes, they don't hold that nostalgic look that a lot of guitarists look for but it is undoubtedly one of nicest guitars you can get under 1k imo. The focus switch, out of phase positions, neck, high end boutique feeling volume and tone knobs and stainless steel frets are just amazing. Can't recommend it enough. But, at the end of the day, it's needs to feel right in your hands, and it won't feel right in everybody's!
