The morning is the best time, unless I struggle to wake up, then my entire day is ruined and no matter what I do, I cannot dive into it.

Don’t get too reliant on the morning. If you can’t get up every now and then, have a routine specifically made for when you wake up too late, that gets you down the work. E.g. when you wake up too late, you take a cold shower right after to get that boost of discipline, then you instantly start working.
This has worked wonders for me.

Truth is, there are morning people, there are night people, and there are people that get random bursts of energy throughout the day. I'm a n evening/night person myself, even if I sleep early, and I have energy to get up in the morning, my synapses just don't fire fast enough in the mornings but they're hauling at night, so the lesson is, know thyself, just like every car is different, so are people. I'm not a racing car but I'm a truck, I get going later, but when I do, nothing stops me from my work and I can work in sessions of 8 hours and more.

@@John_Allingtonwhat if when you have to go to sleep at 11:30 pm and Wake up at 5 am to go and cycle 4 kms ?
Those two times is out of my hand
Although some days i could came back and sleep from 5:30 am but then i couldn't with all my might wake up before 10 am
And if i don't go to sleep I feel tired from 9 am .
I tried polymorphic sleep that also doesn't work .
Also for some unknown reason I need 9 hours of sleep to feel fully energised which is for a student like me is unrealistic to achieve and unacceptable for others

To me it doesn't matter if I wake up early or not. It's how I start my morning.
The start of the day affects the rest of the day.
Remind yourself of your daily, short-term, or long-term goals everyday in the morning.
It helps you focus on what's really important.
I've wasted a lot of time by not doing that.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:40 📚 *Deep Work, as described in the book by Cal Newport, is performing professional activities in a distraction-free state of concentration, pushing cognitive capabilities to their limits, and creating new value.*
02:17 ⏰ *One hour of deep work is more valuable than four hours of shallow work (low-effort tasks in a distracted state).*
03:00 🚫 *Eliminate distractions during deep work hours, including checking your phone, texts, or social media, as they can put your brain in a distracted state for up to 30 minutes.*
04:52 🎯 *Identify the one task of utmost importance, eliminate shallow tasks, and execute that task with focus and precision to make a significant impact.*
06:44 🗓️ *To implement deep work, set clear goals, define the task for each session, choose a distraction-free environment, and schedule specific time blocks, preferably in the morning.*
08:49 🔄 *Take regular breaks after deep work sessions to recharge and maintain focus. The breaks should be easy and not too stimulating.*
10:55 🚀 *Cut out instant gratification sources temporarily to increase your ability to focus on harder tasks and boost overall productivity.*

I am 61 and I have JUST started to panic about my lack of abilities. My dad's view was, 'you're a girl, you don't need an education'. I was lazy so I didn't see the need to work hard. I was in an abusive marriage for 30 years and I have only just got myself into the right place to accept and gorge myself on habits to learn and improve my life. Thank you for you concise and clear information. I will get there before it is too late.

Even though I've already heard it thousands of times, the challenge of setting sharper goals still opens up new thoughts for me every time. It's the one thing that can't be overestimated - especially because it sounds so simple and common sense that it's easy to dismiss. Thank you for sharing. I hope this video continues to pick up speed for you!

Absolutely agree with this method John. As soon as I started using a productivity app like forest to track my time and focus on a single task, have seen many results even in 2-3 hours of deep focused Learning/Work/Any Activity. This consistency of doing work for a fixed time daily compounds in achieving a desired result in a shorter time.

I've been on this journey of finding the work that means a lot to me and get me to enter the "flow state" for 2 years, and here's what I learned:
1- If the work is meaningful you won't need discipline
2- You don't have to spend all day "working" so that you can get result
3- 2 hours of deep work is worth a week of shallow work
4- The peak human expierence is where you work on something that brings meaning to your life

  • @lorensims4846

I think it was Bjork who said, "Forgetting is the most important part of learning." Those breaks are critically important to get whatever it is you are doing out of the front of your consciousness. Do something completely different for a while completely unrelated to your work. Then you can come back to your work with fresh thinking, having given your brain an opportunity to stew over the material in your subconscious, undistracted by anything else.
    Daylight is so important.

Got a few really nice nuggets of info that I don't always hear (or maybe even never heard) self-help industry talk about. Thanks! Btw, with offering a completely free first session on UA-cam you might get potentially 1000s of "what do I lose, let me just setup this free 1 session" uncommitted people, who never plan to get the 2nd session from the get go, regardless how the first session goes. So for them, yes, you might help them out somewhat, but they might not get as much benefit from it as someone who would go through the trouble of paying even $1 or $5 to get a session, and taking it more seriously.

I consider myself fortunate enough to get paid well enough to work 4 hours a day, several times a week. I am so, soooooo much more productive during that 4 hours than when I was doing 8 hour days. My boss is amazed that I crank out projects for him in a third of the time it took his former employees to do. Less in my book is most certainly more.

Its exactly what every one will tell you. And for students with homework not help full at all. Step one is do your homework (kind of obvios) . Step 2 is also only helpful for long and complex homework, but even the teacher will tell you to make a plan before you start. Step 3, is basically "put your smartphone away and go in the library". (You didn't even give tips like use a study lamp if you have abetter place to study). Step 4 is for most students useless if they have school in the morning. And the special Morning routine is just get sun in the morning and drink coffee after 1,5h. (Eat breakfast would be a better tip). And 5. take breaks is something everyone would do after work. (No tips on, Howe long should be the break, what you shouldn't do in a break etc.). And for students, who cant even learn for 5 min thats not useful at all and everyone else know these things. Also Deep work and flow state are 2 different things. And you forgot to mention how important learning methods are. Every teacher could give you better advice for studding or "OUTWORKING" everyone.

Wake up super early and do what you need to get done before school. After school you are probably tired and won't feel like exercising or working on something important. With that being said, you can also have a strict after school routine which could contain studying or exercising for example. Be strict with your time because you don't have a lot of it during your day and make sure you make each hour count. Hold yourself accountable to your daily habits and tasks you need to get done. I would recommend making a habit tracker and journaling. Apply the concepts I explained in the video and you should be good to go :)

This is certainly a petty, generally non-important thing, but from a aesthetic perspective, look at yourself wearing white shit on white background compared to black shirt on white background. Certainly, there is no need to make anything perfect, but when you shifted, it was pretty jarring how much better it looked. -- Just food for thought.
Otherwise, fantastic content. Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll see growth.
