@@BisscuteReacts, I always get emotional when I hear this song. But this time, I shed tears for you and your Dad. 😢 God bless you, lovely young lady, and may your relationship be beautifully strengthened through God’s grace! ❤️🌹
My dad passed away in 2016, and growing up he was working all the time. He came outside with me and played basketball a few times but usually he had to work. When he retired we did get to go fishing quite a lot but as he got older I got over there less and less. And when he began struggling with a terminal lung disease, he became a shadow of himself. This song remains timeless because it artfully speaks a truth that is almost inevitable for all children and their fathers.
This song has some of the most powerful lyrics I have ever heard. My Dad took his life when I was 32, he was only 56. This December will be 21 years ago. He loved the movie "The Princess Bride" and the theme song was one of his all time favorites. To this day I can't get through that song without crying, but it's not a bad crying, it's a good crying. My advice to everyone out there, learn everything you can about the people you love because one day you will forget memories. We are guaranteed today, so make the best of each day, love everyone like it is the last time you will see them, and leave no regrets in life. God Bless to all.
Well said. In my 30s-40s every time I would visit my dad we would end up talking about my mom & we would argue to the point of getting in a fight. I would leave before it got bad. It went that way until he passed. Me and my Dad had already understood each other before he passed. It still hurts.
I was on my way home from work at a Hospital in Queens and saw the accident after it had happened. I just thought it was just an accident until I got home and found out it was Harry. I'm 78 years old now. It's nice to know his music lives on. I live in Florida now and a grocery store, Publix, raises money for the Harry Chapin Food Bank.
We live in Jacksonville and my wife works full-time at Publix - 18years now. She never wants to quit, and yes Publix does lots of great things for the community.
I honestly don't know what my thought of this song or if he even knew it. Though it would be in character for him to like it. It always yanks at my heart. Not because of the father's lament, but because of the sons admiration. I could do far worse than to be like father, and I'm happy I got to at least try and put his mind at ease on how he did as my father. This song always reminds me just how much I miss him. That's o.k. though, I welcome the reminder.
Wow! @Bisscute Another genuine reaction that touched my heart. 😢❤ This one hits me hard and close to home. I live near where Harry was killed and in the town where he lived. I remember the day he died. My sister and some friends had gone to a park where he was scheduled to do a free concert that afternoon and they went early to get good seats for the show. Then word started going around the crowd that Harry died in the car crash. Such a sad shock to Long Island community where he lived and gave his time and money to help others.😢 This song still makes me cry every time I hear it! Thanks again for this... and all of your heartfelt reactions ❤
I also am almost 68 and relate to this because of my oldest son. My younger son is still at home but my older son lives in the middle of the country and I live closer to the East Coast. We get together every year but sometimes that’s hard to do. I should he does call me every week!
I always get teary-eyed when I hear this song. And you made me cry even more! Harry Chapin lived five minutes away from my house and I still remember the day that we heard it on the radio that he had been killed on the Long Island Expressway.
I remember telling my dad who was friends with Harry. My dad worked for Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Records. He met Harry who was signed to Elektra records. Remember seeing Harry perform at Roosevelt Field. He performed even while battling Laryngitis
Saw him in concert once. I bought a shirt at the show. It just said on the front in regular type face, Harry Chapin You Can Always Count On The Cheap Seats. Afterward he stayed and held a meet and greet, and stayed for over 2 hours. He autographed it for me. I cherish it today.
Another great singer songwriter & storyteller. I had his "Greatest Stories Live" double album. "Cat's In The Cradle" is his most famous piece. "Taxi" was another big hit for Harry Chapin. Ten years later he followed it up with "Sequel" showing what happened to the 2 people in the story. He had so many great songs such as "W·O·L·D", "Mr. Tanner", "Mail Order Annie", "They Call Her Easy", "I Wanna Learn A Love Song", "30,000 Pounds Of Bananas", "Shooting Star", "Halfway To Heaven", "Six String Orchestra", "Dreams Go By", "Remember When The Music", "Story Of A Life". We lost him too young in a car accident in 1981 at the age of 38. He left a great legacy of music.
Decades ago, my good buddy was in a fairly decent garage band, and they played "Cat's in The Cradle" all the time. That, combined with radio stations playing the song all the time, forced me to "retire" the song (and many others!). I couldn't listen to it anymore! Two billion times is too many! 😁 Great song. I can listen to it now. 😆
So did I up until his final years when he became closer than ever. I look back now and see how much he gave without appreciation. I wish I did more for him back then and I miss him everyday.
Harry was my wife's favorite singer-songwriter, and definitely one of my favorites as well. Got to hear him in concert three times, and meet him in person. What a great guy. He loved his fans, and his fans loved him. And yes, he loved his family, and no one could tell a story any better than Harry. The day he died was a very sad day in our home.
I’ve always had a hard time listening to this song, but especially after my dad passed away. I’m sorry what you’ve going through right now, but I hope & your father can work through it ❤
Your reactions touch all the emotions. I already knew that id be crying but seeing you got me very emotional. This song is a wake up call. So many things i could've learned from my Father who passed in the 90's my Mother passed earlier this year at 92 and I lived with/cared for her for the past 10 plus years. I have a close relationship with my two sons. It took awhile and i could do more on my part. Love you Biscute

Ms. Bisscute, you are such a lovely soul and for those of us that have been hanging with you we figured that out a long, long time ago.....Many blessings always....
Hello my dear biss...beautiful song that reflects and expresses the relationship that may exist between a father and a son....simply beautiful...great reaction as always....I love how you express your feelings biss..I love it....thanks ..😢😢❤❤ see you!!!
Great reaction. I remember when this song came out, I had 2 young sons who said the same thing. But I was chasing the almighty dollar, hearing it now brings tears to my eyes, you can't get the time back. Please call your dad, I had a daughter too but she passed away over 2 years ago, I still think about her every day.
Dad loves their little girls…. You need to do your part to reach out to him, there’s no mistake or fault that couldn’t be forgiven between father & daughter… Good luck Biss. From Texas with ❤!
Hey, Bisscute. As a son who was estranged from my dad most of my life and never seemed able to reconcile before he passed - I now look at my relationship with my kids differently and make every attempt to connect in any way I can and always make every effort to "meet them half way". Beautiful words. Believe them. Live them. Sending you a hug. 🤗
This is the song that made me the father I am to my daughters. I have daughters ranging from the late 30s to the late 20s and I have never missed a significant event in their life. The reason being, my dad missed everything of mine when I was a child. I knew this song as a small child back in the 70s, but never really paid attention to the lyrics or never understood the meaning until I had my first daughter. I knew right then I would sacrifice anything so they didn’t have to go through what I went through. It was all worth it. As adults not only are they my daughters, but they are some of my best friends and I cherish them every day. Every time I hear this song I think about my beautiful daughters. I enjoy your reactions and this was a good one.👏👏👏👏
Great song so true to life the story kind of resinates with me also with the relationship i had with my late father. But truthley Biss your reactions are so touching and honest and nothing false. Sorry its just how i see it and it so nice to see ♥
This is one of the few that everyone can connect with and even if it ain’t your dad or your mom, you still can connect with where this message is coming from and there’s something about the way he sings it that melt your heart. I’m a single parent of my son and it is absolutely amazing how fast time is went. He is 29 and I am getting ready to turn 50. Where the hell did The time go???!! Time truly is our most valued commodity or at least the one that we will all have to contend with sooner or later. It goes so fast.
I really enjoyed your heartfelt reaction. This song I'm sure has helped mend many many broken fences between generations. I don't know the situation between you and your dad but I recommend you reach out and tell him that you love him. No dad on the planet, no matter how angry, can resist that. I have four daughters and was once almost totally estranged from one but swallowed my pride and called her once when she was in trouble. That started the healing process and now we're close again. BTW the studio version of this song is very good.
Bisscute, I'm writing to let you know how much I love your channel. Yes, many UA-cam content creators react to popular music, but you're special. You have such a bubbly personality and a sense of discovery about you. I was particularly touched by your reaction to this song. New sub!
When my dad passed away 10 years ago at he age of 79, we played this song at his funeral. He was your typical 1960's father that worked 12 hours a day and spent what little time he had with his wife and us kids (I have 3 brothers and a sister), but that time was so short. By the time he retired and had the time to spend with us, we were all working 10 to 12 hours a day a whatever job each of us had, and just didn't have the time to spend with him. I did take a week off just before he passed and spent that time getting to know him better and was there at his bedside when he passed away. I can only hope that my daughter will find the time to spend with me now that I am getting close to retiring myself. I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with her when she was growing up and now she lives a couple of thousand miles away on the other side of the country with her own family.
You said a song with meaning and emotion is the best, a reaction with true emotion is also the best thank you Lady Biss for sharing. Your words are so true and meaningful, so again thank you for sharing.
Aww hugs, Biss, This is my favorite song of all time. I guess you can see why. It hits you right in the heart and just rings true on some level for so many of us. Harry is the greatest story teller ever. I would suggest "A Better Place To Be" and "Taxi". Taxi actually has a sequel called "Sequel".
65 years old here and silly me I thought I wasn’t going to cry. But as soon as I saw you cry I lost it. Prayers for you and you papa. Life’s too short.❤
Tragic loss of this wonderful man, heard this song dozens of times and cry every time, which is ok, I think that's the point, love your videos, embrace the emotions ❤
Harry Chapin (CHAY-pin) was one of the best musical storytellers of a generation. "I Wanna Learn A Love Song", "A Better Place To Be", "Taxi" and "Sequel", "Mr. Tanner", and the list goes on.
If this song doesn't get to you, you need to see a cardiologist. Great storytelling! Harry's most iconic song. Taxi is iconic too. He passed away so young. RIP.
Great …. And Touching reaction. As a father of three (and one with severe autism) my life revolves around them. This song always makes me stop and take a deep breath. Your reaction actually made my eyes tear up. I pray you and your Dad “get together” for many good times in the future. Good luck and never lose heart.
This song came out while I was in high school. That being said, it came to a point in my life when I was working 60 to 70 hours a week to give my family things I never had. UNTIL one day when my son called me, Mister I have to work all the time. That was a slap in the face to my memory. I remembered the lesson of this song and changed.
Harry is a great singer songwriter. He has many great songs like Taxi, A Better place to be and I want to learn a love song. His live album is my favorite.
I speak from experience. A man becomes a softie as they age and toward no one more than his daughter. You have no idea how much power you have over your father no matter how much you don't believe it and no matter how thick the wall he built around him. As his beautiful girl you use your power and you bust thru that wall and do not take no for an answer. You yell, you scream, you cry, you beg, you become relentless, you do whatever you have to do to bust through to him. I promise, you will succeed. No father can reject his daughter. You just have to show him the way.
We understand. It means so much to us. It fits into most of our lives also. Tears here also as this taps on our shoulders and says, Don't let your life go by and not connect with our father's. Being too busy, have a fight, disagreeing about something doesn't matter. Meet each other half-way. Family is very precious. Wonderful reaction. Would be cool if your Dad could see your reaction video. You are wonderful. Thank you for being who you are. God Bless You
When I was 29 my Dad passed away, and this was the song I had played after I stood up and gave my speech about what he meant to me...I literally break down and 😢 every time I hear this song!
Right there with you Bisscute, I'm 74 and my Dad passed away at the age of 58, never got to see his grandchildren or great grand children but when their gone is when you wished you would have spent more time with them. I'm crying right along with you!
This song always made me want to call my parents, then I remember Dad died when I was nine, and Mom passed a couple of years ago Make time for things- life is too goddamn short.
Another wonderful reaction, Biss! A young adult's greatest test is being true to one's self and living by one's own rules and values, which may go against "Family tradition". Wishing you great success in finding peace and understanding with your family. 😊
I can’t listen to this song. When it comes on the radio I immediately switch the station. But because you are absolutely one of my favorite reactors, @Bisscute, I had to watch. For me, it’s a painful reminder of how I didn’t spend the quality time I needed and wanted to with my kids. They’re amazing adults now, in spite of me, but I really failed them when they were younger because I was chasing the corporate career. I pray you and your father can fully mend whatever is going on. Much love from Texas ❤
I was a member of a songwriting group that was started by Harry Chapin in Huntington, Long Island, New York. They would meet at a library every month and people would bring songs that they had written or were working on. Harry died way too early but the group he started carried after his death. I joined after he had passed away so I never got to meet him, but the songwriting group was a great help to me in my songwriting, and I met many people who have become lifetime friends. Chapin also left a legacy of charity in the community and raised money to fight hunger. Every year to this day there is a great fundraising event for LI Cares Food Bank, in his name at a public park to raise money to fight hunger. A great Long Islander.
Beautiful reaction, Biss. My father and I fought all the time, luckily we always managed to reconcile our relationship. I hope you and your father repair yours.
What a wonderful reaction. I am almost 63 yrs old. My mom passed when I was 30 and my dad pased when I was 33. Not a day goes by that I do not miss them. Thankfully for the most past, I had a wonderful relationship with both. I only mention this to plead with anyone who reads this, if your relationship with your parents is fractured, and unless they did something truly unforgiveable, you WILL regret it if you do not mend your relationship.
I met him and Orson Wells a few years before he passed away. He was doing the music for a documentary that my then girlfriend's mother had written the screenplay for with Orson Wells narrating. Truly one of the kindest, most humble human beings I have ever met
I got to see Harry twice in concert. It was such a gut punch when I heard he died. He was so nice and so approachable. Famously he would open his concerts not with some flashy opening or a big curtain opening. Nope. Instead he would walk through the audience from the lobby of the venue. Get to the edge of the stage and hop up awkwardly. He preferred to come in with the people and often he would stay after the shows to sign autographs and take donations for causes he cared about.
This one makes me shed a tear too.I lost my dad in November of 2020.He was a great father when I was growing up,and I tried as much as I could to spend time with him as I got older.I never feel like it was enough.Great reaction to such an emotional song.
my dad and I were never very close... but, when I finished college and was officially out on my own, I noticed that he made a point .... just now and then... of sitting down with me when I was visiting, and having a conversation with me. the kind of conversation where you're catching up with the person, getting reacquainted with them. it was really nice, because when I was a kid we never talked like that. these days, I find myself very much appreciating skills that he taught me and advice that he gave me. I often wish that, when he offered me those experiences, I had been more receptive, taken more of an interest. and maybe we would have been closer if I had.
After I heard this song for the first time as a little kid, I ask my dad if he ever heard it. He said, “Oh yeah! It was a huge motivation for me to always be around for you and your brother!” I hope you and your father can heal your relationship. Life is too short!
Any song about a strained relationship between a son and his father always hits me hard because my Dad and I weren't close, but when he died just over 2 years ago, I was absolutely shattered by it and cried for a week solid. I miss that amazing man. R.I.P Dad
I always cry when I hear this song especially when I watch a reaction to it. I usually go back and forth watching the performance and you. This time I stayed on you, looking intently at your face. I knew this would hit you hard. I, too have a troubled relationship with my dad. I don't see us ever reaching common ground. I hope you do with your dad.
Everyone let's send love out to Biss and her family.

I have four daughters and was once almost totally estranged from one but swallowed my pride and called her once when she was in trouble. That started the healing process and now we're close again. BTW the studio version of this song is very good.
Your reaction and vulnerability is genuine and heartfelt. Love the content ❤
I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with her when she was growing up and now she lives a couple of thousand miles away on the other side of the country with her own family.
i live in florida along way from germany but i wish i could give you as hug! , i hope things with your dad get better
You said a song with meaning and emotion is the best, a reaction with true emotion is also the best thank you Lady Biss for sharing. Your words are so true and meaningful, so again thank you for sharing.
When Bisscute cries......we all cry
So true!
Very true.
indeed
Good Luck to you and your Dad. I know the feeling.
Thank you for the suggestions
65 years old here and silly me I thought I wasn’t going to cry. But as soon as I saw you cry I lost it. Prayers for you and you papa. Life’s too short.❤
Tragic loss of this wonderful man, heard this song dozens of times and cry every time, which is ok, I think that's the point, love your videos, embrace the emotions ❤
i've heard this many times and I still cry every time thankyou for her heartwarming reaction
RIP.
many different artists have performed this song, this one is the BEST.
Always a great song. Great reaction God bless you thank you.
God Bless You
I feel your pain, Biss, because I share your pain. Didn't expect to be sobbing on a Saturday morning, but here I am.
Life flies by so fast, show your lovelight while you can.❤
When I was 29 my Dad passed away, and this was the song I had played after I stood up and gave my speech about what he meant to me...I literally break down and 😢 every time I hear this song!
Such an amazing reaction! Thanks for sharing.
Biscute needs a hug and a cup of hot cocoa...😢
Right there with you Bisscute, I'm 74 and my Dad passed away at the age of 58, never got to see his grandchildren or great grand children but when their gone is when you wished you would have spent more time with them. I'm crying right along with you!
This song always made me want to call my parents,
then I remember Dad died when I was nine,
and Mom passed a couple of years ago
Make time for things- life is too goddamn short.
Another wonderful reaction, Biss! A young adult's greatest test is being true to one's self and living by one's own rules and values, which may go against "Family tradition". Wishing you great success in finding peace and understanding with your family. 😊
Thank you so much ! This is very generous
You're so emotional. Sending love and support to you.
Your precious tears join all the tears of other people going through the same familiar experience. 🌺
I will light a candle for you and your family Ms. Bisscute. thanks for a wonderful video.
Beautiful reaction, Biss. My father and I fought all the time, luckily we always managed to reconcile our relationship. I hope you and your father repair yours.
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
Talk about a double whammy. My mind would be blown.
@cripplermaximus As a teenage boy meeting true living legends? Yeah, even that is somewhat of an understatement
Your emotional response to this song was beautiful.
Thank you for the heartfelt reaction. Trust me when I say there is never, ever, enough time.
Biss you are truly a beautiful person with a beautiful heart. I love your channel ♥ Stay safe always
Hard NOT to cry on first hearing this song.
Beautiful #1 song for Harry. Harry was a great songwriter. Gone too soon. "TAXI" by Harry Chapin is another fantastic❤ song!!
The dad is performing it after he had his son. I hope you find the healing you need Bisscute. Peace, Love!!
