Hello! Life long kitchen worker here. The reason your initial temps varied so much is that your vessels were different temps. The coffee was cooled by the cups, themselves.
In terms of my job, this is precisely why we refrigerate or warm plates depending what we're serving. Great video, though. You for sure gave me enough to make an informed decision.

Thanks for checking out the video. Yes it was crazy! But I figured “I guess this is what happens in real-life” so I went with it. I thought about boiling the water to a consistent temp but in some way this was more fun.
Huge thanks for commenting and sharing your experience! I do hope the video helped.

@@fitnessnbeer9835 Yes, your method actually is the most realistic model. The vast majority of folks aren't thinking what a cold mug will do to their coffee.
You established that given the same environment the cups behave differently even when they are empty and that is _brilliant!_

@@fitnessnbeer9835 i think you should have poured a cup twice or so out of the keurig. In the video you start with Yeti, then Arctic and last the no-brand. The last one will have the hottest starting temp, because you already poured 2 servings before. When I make a cup on my Keurig, I always pour a serving of hot water through the machine, to heat (and clean) everything up!

But why not fill each cup with boiling water
then do it again after 2 min.
      All cups same temp
      all water same temp
      -keep your coffee

I had a rtic cup and dropped it, the bottom broke. I have a yeti cup I left accidentally on the back of the truck and it bounced down the highway. Got it back, it had some dents on it but still works fine.

I hear ya. My Yeti also took a pretty bad fall out of my truck. It did get a few scratches but nothing major. It’s definitely more durable.

The true selling point of yeti is the lid, very easy to clean. Also, the quality, I can feel it in the weight and lack of dents in the bottom.

I have the Rtic with the Yeti lid. Yes it fits perfectly. Another bonus with that lid is that the slide mechanisim is actually magnetic. Pull/pry the black peice that slides off and you'll see. Makes it more cleanable. Also, I wash my Rtic in the dishwasher all the time and it has never affected the performance.

Agree, the hot temps were affected by the vessel itself... the Yeti had the lowest hot temp because it has the thickest body that consumed some of the heat energy... anyway, it's like buying luxury and Yeti just screams more luxe than the other brands.

Good info, that makes sense about the temperature variation 🤔. And yes the Yeti Cup is just nicer from build quality to material.

What I have notice when buying the off brands they tend to not hold up. Yeti, Stanley , and Thermos take a licking and keep on ticking. The off brand can not hold up to the abuse that the other brands can take.

I found that my Artic kept ice overnight. The Yeti did not. So I use my Artic more for cold drinks.. Both are good, but Yeti cost more.

I had similar results with my RTIC showing better cold performance. However the cold performance from my Yeti was still satisfactory and I like the Yeti just a tad bit more. But I don’t know if it like so much more that it’s worth the extra cost.

I have a question what are the best gloves for cold weather?

    • @fitnessnbeer9835
      @fitnessnbeer9835  9 місяців тому +1

Trina!! How've you been? How's the fam?
I like Columbia brand of outdoor gear but there's also lot's of good options at REI. I think for most people a nice pair of Columbia, North Face, or whatever fleece gloves you can find in TJ Maxx will get most by just fine unless you're doing some type of outdoor activity.
If you're looking for "REAL" weather gear, then def REI or Columbia store. And the weather sealed mittens are going to be the warmest. Hope this helps!

Bum deal on the 64oz RTIC getting a bad smell. I think Yeti would have an advantage there because dishwashing can work wonders and may be able to get rid of the smell.

The random performed admirably considering it was a cheap no named brand. I think it shows you don’t need a big name brand for performance. But I don’t think it performed the best.
