Have you considered, doing a "Side-by-Side" test to see which one had the best thermal properties, say with ice cubes or something? I'd like to know if we're paying for a name or quality workmanship.
Thank you so much for this video. Yours was the only one I could find detailing the new wave of clones. Considering they are nearly identical in looks and performance, my main concern was to make sure my money went towards the engineers who originally designed it and not copycats trying to profit off of the Yeti name. Thanks again.
Well-thank you for confirming the one I recv'd is a FAKE! I've been using it for the last 3 months and it's been excellent but after noticing a strange metallic taste in my water this week, I started poking around for info. I was even considering sending to YETI under their warranty but now I know that would have been a HUGE waste of time. Thanks for this!
MSL5 I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm glad I could help. Hopefully you can contact your bank (if you paid by card) and let them know you were sold a knockoff. Some banks protect against counterfeit items. Good luck!
I apparently got a fake one, but I fill my fake one with cold water at 5am with ice, and I still have cold water with ice at 2pm. So, fake or real, I'm happy with my fake one.
I bought a yeti from their website & it doesn't say Yeti on the cover at all. I just received a yeti that I purchased from ebay and it also doesn't say yeti on the cover. Without weighing them, as I don't have 2 identical cups, this ebay yeti looks like the real yeti as far as the wrap on the cup, no misspellings, no blue tint to the lid, it IS lighter than my other cups I can tell by holding it. But it's a different design also & I wonder if yeti is making them lighter? My son has a yeti that also has a hot cover (no straw) & has a handle like the ebay cup I just got, but his is heavier by feel. The magnet in the cover of the new ebay cup says yeti on it just like my other yeti hot cup without a handle but the magnet on the ebay cup doesn't work on my old cup. It refuses it. Same as the magnet on my old cup refuses the lid of the ebay cup. I got my old yeti from Marlboro so I'm not 100% sure that my old cup is real either. I only have 1 yeti out of the 4 I own that came from the actual yeti website, yet it doesn't have yeti printed on the cover in frosted letters. It's difficult to figure out if it's fake rather than a design change from Yeti. The inside packaging/sticker/brochure... my new yeti came with a sticker that simply says yeti in bold letters. No booklet. Just 1 "yeti rambler care & use rectangular card"...2 square brown "register your yeti" cards & the YETI sticker.
Hi Melissa! Came across your comment, I had the same happen. So I believe we both bought fake yeti cups (the one from eBay). It seems that fakes have come really far since the video was made. You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference by looking at it, the only tell tale signs I see is the magnet on the lid and the serial number on the bottom of cup, the number won’t be legitimate. You can still try and register on the website for the warranty! Would like to know the outcome, let me know!
As long as I have a tumbler that does the work that it needs to do, I'm good. Not here for the brand though. Just wondering if people would still judge others for buying fake ones.
My wife has a REAL YETI and I have a WETI, which is the Walmart brand (can’t remember the REAL Walmart brand name) and it performs quite well when comparing the 2. I was going to buy a YETI but my son told me the Walmart tumbler was all I needed and cost about half or less than a YETI. Let me guess where the knock off was probably made, I am sure the counterfeiters probably copied that too.😊😊
@@nursediva128 this can’t be true that only fakes taste like metal because I order my orange one on the yeti website in January and from the time I’ve received it I washed it 4 times and tasted the metallic taste and some days after washing it multiple times I still taste it and mine is registered on the website
Where is the registration code? Did the SHETI have one in it? Been burnt twice by someone taking them out of my cups and took one out of my bucket. 1 had it 1 didnt.
Replace the top with one from TrekTumblers for three bucks, they don’t leak. 2.99 This Premium Slash Proof Lid has been designed and crafted to perfectly fit any 30oz TREK, RTIC, YETI, SIC or Ozark Trail Stainless Steel Tumbler. There is are small holes on top of lid that will allow airflow for smoother drinking experiences without annoying splashing.
Haha how funny I literally just started calling these fetis today. Never saw your video or heard it from anyone else. Thanks for sharing. Didn't realize they started making similar labels, knew about the lids tho.. Thanks again!
I bought a 30oz Yeti from Amazon and I was wondering the differences between the real and Fake, I wonder if the fake ones come with the QR code on the bottom of the cup to register it on their website
Hi.. What if im living here in Philippines and I'm having a hard time looking for a authentic and legit seller of this brand.. Can you help me on how to buy authentic yeti because there are no legit sellers here in the philippines or I'm not sure if there are authentic yeti in malls here with us. Thanks
This doesn’t mean it’s fake. You got it at a cheaper price because it may have been a bad batch. Explaining the misprint. It happens with designer jeans as well. I’m not saying it is it isn’t but this doesn’t necessarily say that it’s fake. If it was on the tumbler itself I could see but not the printing in the paper.
I was just thinking the same thing! How could another company make and market the same Logo. The company that makes the (real) Yeti would sue the crap out of them!
Look at the Yeti stampings, sometimes they don't line up, fakes have engraving on the bottom saying made in china, designed in Texas. I saw Yetis at whole foods and they didn't have that engraving.. I'm assuming the ones at whole foods were real, they all looked very well made compared to fakes I've seen
How about the vent hole on the top of the lid across from the drinking hole are they two different sizes and which is the real one the larger hole or the smaller hole.. thanks I have two of them 30 Oz one weighs 14 oz that's silver.. And I have a red one 30 ounce that weighs 13.8 Oz are they both real or both fake... God only knows... I still have the label for the red one and it meets all the real criteria you speak of.. But it's .2 oz lighter. They both work great. The red one is ever so slightly taller I think it's the thickness of the paint That's How close it is.. the only thing different is the vent holes on top of the lid. Thanks
ur "Real" one still might be fake since My Yeti came with all that, a different sticker and an official ID code to register my Tumbler on the Yeti website for the guarantee and notifications on new products.
As far as I know it does. I gave it to my dad (yes I like him) and he said it works great. I told him it was a knockoff but he said it keeps his drinks ice cold all day long. He loves it. Lol

People waste a lot of time to purchase two yeti cups to look at it THAT closely to see if it’s fake. It’s just a damn cup for crying out loud. Not to mention ALL the tumbler cups are manufactured in CHINA whether you wanna call it “fake” or “real”. You’re paying FOR THE NAME.
Wanna real Yeti? Stop being cheap, quality costs and source authentication is paramount. Just go to their website. Problem solved. When you buy cheap, you buy twice.
Darn right it matters, you didn't get what you paid for. So you buy some fake silver or a diamond thinking it's real, I'm sure you you would be ok with that to ,give me a break.
There is no such thing as real or fake "YETI", yeti is just a company with a (brand) that purchases 2usd tumblers from china and makes them print their logo on them, selling you for 34usd, you are basically paying for the brand, not the tumbler.

This is ridiculous. Yetis aren't even real!

Ozark Trails is the Wal-Mart brand. A lot of people have tested them and they perform BETTER than Yeti. lol
The border on the label of the fake is wider than the border on label of the authentic Yeti.
But the real question is if the fake cup performs any worse than the real one? On other videos, the fake Yeti actually performed better.
No, the real question is does your water taste like metal?

The real tast like metal to its stainless steel
Someone else did a hot and cold test, and the fake one actually did better than the real one.
Do they direct you to a fake site?
Its also OBVIOUS that the real YETI lable has a barcode and the fake does not.

I was just looking at yetis from Amazon - I seen this and just ordered from the actual yeti website ! Lol
Haha how funny I literally just started calling these fetis today. Never saw your video or heard it from anyone else. Thanks for sharing. Didn't realize they started making similar labels, knew about the lids tho.. Thanks again!
Do you think that the companies who my the fake even know it or they just think they are getting a good deal?
I noticed the fake brochure said bottle not tumbler .... eta I see that you did comment on the bottle vs tumbler
I noticed that too. Blue paperwork on the Feti says "Bottle" while the Yeti says "Tumbler"

The fake one do not come with QR codes or a legit serial number. You wouldn’t be able to register them on yetis web site.
Thank you very much for this video I just bought me the fake one and it is blue for $20 and That came with the fake yeti stickers as well
