Right on. I recall a race at Bristol when Robby's car wouldn't start for qualifying, and had no choice but to withdraw. This was the first year for EFI. Dodge only had 3 or 4 cars in the field by this point, and the McLaren group went running for cover with no comment. There's no way foul play wasn't involved there.

You know, I came into this with an open mind. I remember all this going down with JM and honestly thought he probably did it if Nascar's testing policy says he did. Then, as time went on, I got a little more skeptical. I've got family on my wife's side that has dealt with meth over and over. One thing I will say, the recidivism rate for meth is extremely high, something like 96% meaning only 4% of people ever get off it which is why I think it's our biggest threat as a society in terms of drug use. If JM was really using meth, there would've been other signs and just physical appearance changes that go along with meth use. I'm not talking about meth mouth necessarily, but they just don't look healthy and you can tell there's something off about them. JM never gave that impression off and for all intents and purposes, looks the same today as he did then just a little more years. He doesn't talk like someone who's been on meth and certainly doesn't look the part.
My problem with the whole thing was what he said about having little baggies in his safe for his coins, those are called coin sleeves and completely different than baggies. Overall, the whole Red Dawn on his property just doesn't sit well with me nor his explanation of why it happened.
I guess you could say that I'm no more convinced that he did do it or that he didn't do it than I was. His story is far fetched but believable in a way. I will say he either the most stubborn man to ever walk this earth and admit his guilt or he's 100% telling the truth. Your name and reputation is all you really have on this earth and if I was accused of something I didn't do, I'd probably be just as hard headed as JM is about the whole thing.
The true hero in this story is his wife for sticking by him which also leads me to believe that he just might be telling the truth. If he really was using meth, I can't imagine his wife sitting idly by and letting everything they've accumulated together be taken from her.
Fent is way more of a threat.

Any smart meth user/seller knows keep the drugs buried on the property. Especially if the heat is on.. that’s all I got to say. Also you don’t open a safe for cops if you have contraband In it, you make them find it

I'm a Dale Jr. fan, but I know this show is not allowed to say anything too bad about Nascar. We're probably not going to get his and Mike's honest opinions on air.

Same. I don't even watch or keep up with it anymore. Nascar has become trash. Dirty dickheads get away with slaps on wrist. Good decent drivers get shafted one way or another.

I've known Jeremy since high school, didn't always get along or agree with him, he said a lot of things in his Nascar career that really didn't help his position! But he was a great driver! And I never knew him to be a liar
I’ve suspected for years that NASCAR wanted JM to just go away quietly, and he refused to allow upper management to “screw him without kissing him first.” It’s really sad that they eventually got their way…

Dale Jr has done a phenomenal job with his Podcast. The truth is what matters to Dale. Folks have no idea how much of an impact Dale Jr has in every aspect of the sport!!

Really enjoyed this podcast. Took guts to have him on. Bad choices by Jeremy. Flaws in everybody. But when someone is label a drug addict and he truly is not . Still the question to be answered. My guts telling me he is not to the degree nascar calm. Truly believe he was made a example of what can happen when powerful people decide to take you out . Thanks for having him on . Could tell y'all enjoyed it too. Somethings we may never know for definite.
There are side stories that are coming to a conclusion this year about NC police. It factors into the raid on JM.

I don’t think he was an addict like people claimed. Claritin and Sudafed are 2 different drugs.
Don't forget he tested positive for amphetamines, Sudafed over the counter will give you a positive test result. They fkd over tim Richmond in the 80s the same way. Nascar doesn't get the benefit of doubt in this one for me

I still think that Ray was so pissed in exposing his personal life, his power with Nascar was Jeremy's downfall. Just a opinion.

That whole team blew up because of that affair. Definitely lots of "blame" to throw around and a bunch got thrown back at Jeremy because his frustration with the team's performance caused him to publicly expose something that wasn't "meant" to be
I think Dr Black and Brian France did all the wrong, NASCAR played dumb, Jeremy's not perfect, but nobody is it could have been handled much better. Thanks Dale, good job. 🏁
everyone was in the wrong.. NASCAR knee jerk reacted to the media pressure to implement a drug testing system. instead of spending the time researching into the companies/services available to them they immediately went with the cheapest option. as much as i want to blame Brian, a lot of the blame rests on the people around him that were more worried about getting a promotion or bonus then actually doing the right thing for the drivers, sport, and fans. and no i'm not going to defend Mayfield either, whether or not he had a drug problem doesn't excuse him for the positions he put himself in to get to this point.

Awesome interview! I am a Firm believer that Nascar was out for Jeremy. You have to remember back in that time Nascar actually thought they were god!! Jeremy could have definitely done different but you have to remember Jeremy actually thought he was still a Superstar back then and thought he could get away with anything! I say its just two hardheads going at it..

I've never been a fan of NASCAR, maybe a "casual fan" at best. But I cannot get enough of these podcasts!!!

Really enjoyed the Mayfield podcast. One of my favorites. But we all need to come to grips with the reality that Dale Jr, in his position as a brand ambassador for NBC, can't paint Nascar in a bad way. He has to hedge here concerning his opinion of Mayfield and a possible failed drug test. No way can he say that he believes Nascar went out of their way to bury Mayfield.
I read (too far maybe) into his comment(s). My take is Jr said, “NASCAR screwed up, and had taken such a hard stand in an ugly battle, they felt they couldn’t/can’t back up now”. Like they said JM pissed a lot of people off in the sport. Jeremy very well could’ve tested positive;for the reasons he stated? Possibly. Either way it gave them the ammo they needed to punish him.
Gotta Disagree with ya there.... Actually that's what I like about Dale Jr...He Calls NASCAR out on when they do mess up...They Need That Now More Than Ever 🏁
This interview and similar ones like it that get into controversial and often unprovable things put Dale, Jr. and his podcast into an impossible situation.
I think that we all know how Dale, Jr. really feels about this situation, but he can’t say for multiple, obvious reasons.
Maybe a better play would be to just conclude the interview and upload it without Dale, Jr. and Mike making judgement calls, and let the listeners/viewers come to their own conclusions.

Dale, you're saying you would "Tune in" if he were to get a ride in an SRX car was amazing! I'm guessing that meant more to that man at this stage in his life than almost anything someone could say to him. You may have changed the course of that man's life with that one simple but truthful statement. I believe in second chances, and this man deserves a second chance. I know if I were in a position to help get his career back on track, I'd take the chance on him.
Jeremy Mayfield deserves more than a second chance. He deserves justice/reinstatement at best, and an apology at least.
I never thought Jeremy was as bad as they said. What we know about Brian France now shows that. Brian proved he was the real crook.

I noticed these two Mayfield videos may be Dale's largest viewed on this channel. People want to know why Mayfield took on NASCAR where most who tested positive chose to do the steps then get back to racing (i.e. AJ Almendinger, Spencer Gallagher, etc.). NASCAR made an example out of him fighting back (David vs Golliath). Mike is right, lots of wrongs on both sides.
Sounds like NASCAR wanted Claritin’s money for sponsorships and would be an issue if it was a banned substance. I think Mayfield knew what was going on and wanted to challenge the NASCAR ecosystem. Something smells dangerously fishy all the way around.
NASCAR is a scripted business, much like “Pro”Wrestling. I am baffled that anyone watches NASCAR, especially after corruption like this is found. Sure, no one is innocent here. However NASCAR is a powerful organization that is willing to scalp fans on ticket prices, enforce false morality (drug testing), and hammer anyone who questions the brand. The difference between Mayfield and NASCAR is that NASCAR has power. I have never watched a full NASCAR race and read a lot after stumbling on this interview. I will never watch NASCAR after reading about this and the organization.
He had a damn prescription for Adderall which is Dr confirmed but nascar didn’t give two shits about that. It was a scandal for ratings, simple. That test wouldn’t have stood up in any other industry. NASCAR railroaded mayfield over his comments and their bad ratings

I don't believe Nascar was acting solely on the direct advice of the Doctor. Its certainly possible, that both Nascar and the Doctor, were both working together, to rid, Nascar of Jeremy Mayfield. And also that others were afoot not only planning, but working too do the same.
Jeremy Mayfield was one of my favorite drivers growing up. I used to watch him race every Saturday night at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville and followed him up through the ranks. I hated to see the situation he got himself into, but we’re all human and do dumb things. Glad to see the interview and wish him he best.
Always a great podcast , always liked Mayfield too . You gotta think Dale can't say everything he honestly believes in , especially if it makes nascar look bad , I mean he does have Jr. Motorsports who races within the rules of nascar , and he actually makes money from owning his teams in nascar ( mostly sponsor money for Dale himself, and the invidual sponsors on the teams cars ) . I really believe if Dale didn't have anything at all to do with nascar , he would say whatever he really wanted to say ... There's no way to be 110% sure exactly what happened to Mayfield, or what he did , but I can appreciate him coming on the show and telling his side , and hopefully he can build a career that he enjoyes in life ...
I think that Jeremy Mayfgield and Carl Long are two perfect examples of what happens when NASCAR stops being comfortable with your situation, and they work hard to find a way to "correct" the situation. Carl Long was absolute, utter, and completely screwed over by NASCAR in the engine deal, something that a major "connected" team would have been told quietly to just pull the engine and replace. NASCAR was not happy at all with the situation of back marker teams making a living off the system, and made their minds up. The difference betwen Long and Mayfield in the end is that Mayfield systematically went through and burned every bridge possible, and let himself with no real way back. Carl Long has managed to get back somewhat into NASCARs good book, although it's not written in, more like a post it note attached. NASCAR may play the family friendly card to the public, but you don't have to go far to find a nasty, petty, and morally inbred bunch who will extract pain at every turn.
@MisterMac56 and often the drivers didn't know. It was crew chiefs & builders pushing the envelope. Remember the Michael Waltrip years?? The fuel tampering? His drunken/reckless driving and failure to report an accident? There was plenty of "embarrassing" incidents that went on in the garages in the 6 years I worked there

This is an incredible Podcast. Dale Jrs talents go WELL beyond racing. Hes a really smart guy.

Smart & caring people don't poop where they eat. His father was the same way, willing to call out the powers to be but knew exactly where the line was.

As a retired police officer my department had drug testing but it was random and when you were tested they sent you too three different companies for testing.
If one came back positive they would rely on the other two. If two came back positive you were taken off the road and re-tested the day of the finding and given a polygraph test. You were also given the chance for concealing.
If the new testing showed negative as well as the polygraph you were put back on duty.
They were aware of false positive.
They made it very clear in writing the substances that were not except able.

Great thoughts and discussion guys. I do question NASCAR and their drug testing when considering Dr. Tennant and Tim Richmond who was banned for Advil and Sudafed.
pseudoephedrine is a ingredient in meth but also people have been know to take it to improve respiratory capacity and function there’s all kinds of drugs herbs and natural substances on the list that have beneficial effects for your body while training and competing it’s getting ridiculous in my opinion considering a number of therapeutics that have the same effect long term like hyperbaric training But you have to have conversations like this to challenge the bs before you can make the change
The Tim Richmond deal was just sad. Nascar just couldn't take the fact that he was not on drugs. They just dug for an answer. Man was fighting for his life and nascar just had to push the issue

Jr was the perfect person to have Mayfield tell his story... he's always good at letting the guest speak without interrupting or cutting them off. Took some nuts to even have him on to begin with! Always thought it was fishy what happened to Jeremy Mayfield... gotta respect him for atleast standing his ground and fighting back.

I too, firmly believe Nascar was out to get him. I don't believe Dr. Black or Nascar were basing there findings on total facts. I personally have challenged authority and they don't like it at all. But when you have facts behind you there's no reason to back down and I believe that was the case with Jeremy Mayfield.

@@dondagnall212 a drug test is like a concussion test (it test how much of a substance your body can’t metabolize and uses that to find what you’ve been taking) the way Jermey describes the process he went threw dr black was using a arbitrary number to determine he was abusing his prescription without know if he was just over medicated by his doctor and pharmacist any competent drug policy should have that let alone your doctor should be testing for dosages anyone that’s ever played sports or driven knows real time memory is crap and the film or data is the truth teller all doctors (in my opinion) should be using this testing so as to stop over medicating people but to the subject I don’t see where anything he did in regard the drugs was wrong he had a scrip he took it end of story if they could prove he got the scrip or was intentionally taking more to gain a advantage then he’s wrong if they can’t prove that there nothing to see here
I now believe Jeremy 100% did not use methamphetamines' and here's why:
1: Jeremy declared on his yearly medical he was taking prescribed Adderall.
2: Jeremy has video evidence of him buying Claritin D
3: Adderall is an amphetamine and will cause a positive test.
This was done before any kind of test so this isn't a story he came up with later.
4: Jeremy took dozens of tests from one of the most trusted drug testing labs in the world and came back negative. He did this dozens of times during this entire saga.
5: He and his attorney's specifically asked for the threshold to be set to zero, and he was still negative.
These revelations really side the whole thing with Jeremy.
As for the raid, he gives a self serving statement no doubt. He'd also been unemployed and was trying to make a living and probably hanging our some dirtballs. But when the discovery comes back and it's Nascar providing information and then it's used in the upcoming appeal - that's a lot of evidence this is a set-up. And now consider all those charges ended up going away.
Give Jeremy a poly and a drug test. Jeremy was a mid pack guy with probably one of the most clutch wins of all time and he's been gone for 13 years yet millions of people are tuning in. That's 100x more than even go to races anymore.
Adderall and meth is the same thing. I have abused both. Same effect.

Of course there’s more to it than appearances… Nevertheless, Jeremy Mayfield doesn’t look or act like a meth addict. I’ve never met him either, but I’ve personally dealt with a bunch of tweakers and he just doesn’t show the signs, doesn’t look like they did.

I think the whole deal was with Jeremy Mayfield is that he pissed Ray evernham off because he said it was wrong for Ray to be dating much less marrying that young girl and that started the ball rolling just in my opinion
strangest part is none of the felony charges (excepting the possession of stolen goods) ended in conviction .... why is it that the drug felonies went away if he's a user?
Adderall is medical meth he was always going to fail a drug test the only question is was he abusing that scrip for a competive advantage seeing how nascar made no attempt to prove that only that he used meth in x quantity not weather it was to just function normally or not or get ahead is just wrong

When NASCAR went on Nasdaq the downfall started. I'd love to be a fly on the wall if Big Bill could come back and see the mess that's been made of his dream venture. I listened to my first race on an old RCA radio in the neighbor"s barn when I was 6 yrs old. Tracks have thousands of seats covered with banners that used to be sold with folks in the seats. The first thing they used to tell you when the race started was the paid attendance. When was the last time you heard that? Meanwhile, the announcers try to make us believe that the sport is growing when they can't fill a Bristol night race for crying out loud. Covering thousands of seats and then only selling half of those remaining doesn't look like growth to me. You can really tell the crowd is small when all the cameras make sure they only capture the first few rows of seats.......Here's the fun part.....coming back from a commercial break the blimp shows the overhead view and low and behold it's half full. The other funny one is the in-car cameras that show how many folks are there. Big money has taken the sport I have loved all my life (65 yrs.) and made it barely watchable. I love Dalr Jr. and all he was accomplished in his life and I understand the politics he has to play to appease NASCAR and the sponsors. I just wish things weren't that way... Thanks to Dale and the crew for the enjoyment these pod casts be to me.

The biggest tell is when they remove grandstands. That's hard to hide. Vegas got a 2nd date, those stories claimed the sport was doing just fine...2, maybe 3, days later Vegas announced they were removing seats. Both of those stories can't be true.
I live near Dover and it's the only track I've been too which is sad because it's one of the worst races to watch. When Nascar was actually growing Dover added entire sections of seats above what they already had. Then they got covered in banners. Then they got removed. Back in the day driving near Dover on race weekend was a nightmare. Now i'm not sure it's discernable from any other day.
NASCAR isn't on the Nasdaq...it's a private company not a public one.
NASCAR definitely set Mayfield up, I'm not claiming he was 100% innocent but so many charges and only 2 charges stuck, C'mon

The only sketchy part of Mayfield's story is that " he didn't really know the crackh3ad" that was bringing around stolen sh!t.... Its bull, he knew the dude, he knew the stuff was hot but thought 'well this will never come back on me'.... Other than that, its clear evernham and nascar wanted him gone and used their connections in the police force to do it
I think he meant dude was not a friend, or a buddy. I know like 7 crack heads in my neighborhood by their first names but I still don't really know them. I agree he knew the goods were hot, but also agree he probably didn't know him on a real personal level.

You can't really know someone. I have a feeling the guy Jeremy was talking about was a CI for the police all along and got help with the stolen items to be placed on Jeremy's property

I think it woulda played better if he had just said " ya we had this crackhead come around and i was buying stuff off of him and i probably shouldn't have" because theres still plausible deniability in that statement and you dont look like you're trying to hide something.... And one last thing when the cop was like "who can you get down here to sell you drugs" if mayfield didnt know or care about the crackhead why wouldn't you just call him and set him up.... Not that i condone ratting but if you really want this dude to stay away from your shop just send it.... But i think he couldn't because phone records would prolly show mayfield called him on a pretty consistent basis, just my opinion...

Say what you will about Mayfield but for me entire life I was a Rusty Wallace fan. The race was in town that weekend and Rusty was signing autographs at local dealership. I couldn’t believe it that my hero and favorite driver was in my small town signing autographs. My mother dropped me off and I stood in line for hours to get my hero’s autograph. They cut off the line behind us and there were just 3-4 of us left in line. He then got up, left and flew away in a helicopter leaving the 3-4 of us who were told we’d get to meet him and get an autograph standing there with broken hearts. As an adult, I somewhat get it and his time is money but as a kid who was a few steps from meeting their hero, I was devastated. I left without a driver to support having been blown off by Rusty.
At the fall race that same year, Jeremy Mayfield was in town signing autographs at a small rent to own type of place in my small town. I go up and wait in line and got to meet him. He took a picture with me, signed an autograph and made jokes with me. I left a Jeremy Mayfield fan. He left a great impression on me and seemed happy and honored to have this random kid as a fan.
Thank you for letting Jeremy tell his side. I don't know him personally but I never believed he was guilty and still don't. There never were any signs that showed substance abuse!

That dude used Jeremy to get out of his own trouble. And his medication absolutely can make you fail drug test especially back then I have seen it many times. The dude stood his ground not cause he was flawed but because he didn’t do anything wrong except be to nice to a guy to long before telling him to kick rocks.
I am glad that Dale had Jeremy on a show but I do believe it's still controversial Dale has to be careful what he says about NASCAR and I do believe Jeremy Mayfield was an escape NASCAR had to point the finger at someone and I do believe Jeremy Mayfield was that guy if you look at his life He's still married his wife never left him we all know what addicts look like and Jeremy does not fit that demeanour is he innocent I do believe he was innocent was he guilty of other things I think we're all guilty of something in life but when it comes to down to push come to shove NASCAR's going to win....

I watched the whole part one interview with Jeremy Mayfield, so this is the first I've heard of what happened to him. Very interesting story to say the least.
However I will say this...
After seeing the first interview, and listening to his story. I feel he was being very vague. So much so that I don't believe he's as innocent as he's making out to be, but what the hell do I know.
I'm very interested in seeing part two now.

I believe Mayfield in most of what he has said except the guy he was buying stolen items from. He knew the guy and he knew the stuff was hot he just thought he could junk it before he got caught. Dr. black, NASCAR and Ray Evernham all had a vendetta against him and they did everything they could to take him down.
My only question about that is did he know before or after he bought them if it was after I don’t fault him if he knew before is a problem
Excellent conversation about the beginning of a major issue in American lifestyle and a racer's brush with the infancy stage of drug testing in Nascar. I would like to hear Dale Jr's opinion on if NASCAR did make a mistake by trusting Dr. black would NASCAR admit to it now. Love the show. Thank you for being open and honest about this so maybe a few more of us race fans can have a honest conversation about this with our loved ones and the implications of drugs in the lives of our nearest and dearest loved ones.
I think one needs to ask Nascar what would it take to get him approved to get back on the track. Without hearing the rest of the podcast yet, I think facts are facts, he called Everham out and was true on that front, Brian France is more a problematic person than Jeremy ever was. I think you're light stepping the Nascar thought because you have to with your postion/team ownership. It's true with a lot of people and scenarios that you're willing to try anything to get back to the top, even if it can burn you. What would be the loss, already low as you can go.
Lost a ton of respect for junior
There are several conditions that NASCAR has laid out for him to be able to come back, but there’s one condition which tells everyone that NASCAR has no intention of letting Jeremy come back- They want him to publicly admit that he lied about the whole thing. That tells me all I need to know.

he's doing exactly what he's suppose to be doing. the podcast is a platform for people to get their story out there and nothing more. once you start putting out your own statements defending or opposing guests as a host you lose credibility, just ask Joe Rogan how that went.
I kind of feel like this may be one of the most important UA-cam videos of the Dale Jr. pod cast. I'm more & more impressed in the person that Dale is & how wrong or how much my opinion of who he was before has changed. I just want to see people do well for themselves. I have a better appreciation for Jeremy. His story is very believable. Now it has come out about some state police that were planting drugs on unsuspecting victims. Thanks to Dale Jr for asking tough questions and giving JM a platform to speak. I was a huge NASCAR fan for over 20 years. I’m now casual or maybe even less. Brian France started the ruination of the sport. He never made a right decision on anything. They are struggling mightily right now and not sure they will be able to get back anywhere near where they were.
Started when Mayfield bumped Dale Sr and got around him on the last lap and then mocked Dale Sr and said he just.meant to rattle his cage,What Dale Sr said after he paid Terry Labonte back at Bristol and got around him .Mayfield rattled the wrong cage.

Nascar was out to get Jeremy like they were out to get Tim Richmond. Jeremy was set up to fail. He probably wasn't the best at networking and people were more than likely rubbed the wrong way by him, and it definitely sounded like he was surrounded by some pretty bad people. But the idea that Jeremy was using, buying, or selling drugs is almost comical. Nascar just wanted him gone and they made that happen. The police/FBI or whatever was hired and bought by NASCAR and the France family. Same with Dr. Black all just a big setup
DR Black wasn't even a physician. It was revealed in Congressional hearing into the dozens of WWE deaths under Black's drug policy, that he was nothing but a lab tech married to one of congress' richest reps Diane Black who co-owned Aegis Labs. Notice how quietly he left both Aegis Labs & Nascar stopped using his services? And you're right about Nascar buying Catawba County sheriff's dept including their arrested felon (son of sheriff Coy Reid) Lt Jason Reid who was even barred from giving criminal case testimony, had 59 drug cases dismissed because of false allegation, passing counterfeit bills (well before he got arrested himself) & also questionable Lt BM Kelly & Lt LA Turk & their list of known narcs
Whether Jeremy was doing that or not I still think he got railroaded by nascar they made an example of him 100%
I really thought less of Jr. before these podcasts in terms of who his dad was. I didn't like the way he seemed to "accept losing". I was wrong about him. These podcasts he is doing now has given me insight to the man he is now and wow. I don't know because I'm just a fan but I do live close to RCR and the #3 team has been a part of my community all my life so I feel emotionally invested in the Earnhardt legacy. That being said I think Sr. would be so proud of the man Jr. became and would say Jr. has accomplished even more than Sr. did even though Jr. never won a championship racing. These podcasts are the best NASCAR related media out right now by leaps and bounds. I'm so proud of Dale Jr. and I know his dad is to.

Anyone who thinks Brian France and others didn’t have it out for Mayfield is a damn fool. While Mayfield made plenty of mistakes it’s as obvious as the nose on your face that NASCAR and some owners decided to use him as an example. I also don’t think he used drugs, especially Meth. The best thing to happen to NASCAR in recent history is the downfall of Brian France. His grandfather would beat his sorry arse if he could.

My question is how the first episode fails to mention that Brian France the CEO of Nascar is run out of office for a DUI and oxytocin addiction. My feeling is that Jeremy came on the pod because Jr has enough credibility and internal knowledge to clear his name and Dale sandbagged the episode? What kind of women stands by her man in this case unless he is telling truth? this episode has caused me to question Jr's character...
To summarize: Simply avoid watching NASCAR. There are too many other racing organizations that would love to see your investment in time and money, and these other groups also don't have access to a large paramilitary force to swarm over your property and casually toss you in jail if you do something they don't like.

Awesome podcast. I’ve grown to dislike the sport after being a huge fan for yours. This podcast has made me want to start going to races again and bring back the memories of some races they’ve talked about.

I think people need to come clean here, they raided his property over a piece of metal? Someone is lying about this incident for sure. A piece of metal with no serial number or identifying numbers is not traceable and no judge is signing that search warrant.
If the judge and others are being paid off they sure will sign that warrant.

Keeping in mind NASCAR was then and is now a dictatorship I think it is possible he didn't get a true fair shake when it came to the drug usage issue. Having said that, hearing his interview (Part 1) he reminded me of some of the young people that are in trouble with the law and try their best to tell a story in a way that their wrong doing is minimized and the wrong doing of others is highlighted. In other words you get part of the story but not all of the story. That was just my impression.

For what it’s worth I spent 15 years of my life strung out on meth and various other drugs so I can usually pick out a fellow ex meth addict from a mile away. And I honestly don’t think he said one correct thing when it comes to meth. He doesn’t even know the correct weight of an empty baggie.. I would bet every single thing I own that Jeremy did not do meth.

Some people are just good liars. I remember the TV actress, Dana Plato, on the Howard Stern show in 1999. She claimed she was clean of drugs and sober for 10 years on the radio - the next day she was found dead from a drug overdose....
It would also be interesting to look into the almost forgotten case of Kevin Grubb. I think for fans like me, who follow the racing but don't really get into the off-track personality stuff, Mayfield getting caught up in all this was a big surprise because, just going by looks, he seemed like such a clean cut guy. Also, thinking of him as a Penske driver, Roger Penske, in picking his drivers, always seemed very careful of image, thinking of Rick Mears or Al Unser (senior and junior) or Rusty Wallace, so you figured if he got Penske's approval he had to be all right. (Of course, it turned out Al Unser Jr., had his own substance abuse problems, so you learn you can't go by image.)
In deciding who to believe, I tend to give Mayfield the benefit of the doubt, not so much because of Jeremy, but because I've long looked at NASCAR as being run by a bunch of gangsters and criminals. A southern Mafia. They always make me think of the movie "The Phenix City Story". They used to like to play this up with stories about bootleggers and moonshiners, like it was a cute thing, but outside the cuteness, those were violent people who'd come after you if you messed with them. They weren't characters from a Snuffy Smith cartoon.
Here's my thoughts, It doesn't take the amount of ops that showed up at the Mayfields house to achieve what needed to be looked at and to follow the orders on the search warrant. Have you ever known a cop to lie, well i can tell you part of their training before becoming an officer includes how to LIE. How they treated Jeremy, and his Wife and family was uncalled for in my opinion. These are NOT Dangerous people, NOT now Not before this and Not Now!! Just my 0.02

They wanted me out after 23 years of service and when I gave my two weeks they showed up at my job and escorted me out and would not let me take anything out of my office. Apparently there was a lot about Ray Evernham on other interviews that he didn't mention here. I wonder if he was asked not to.
I used to be a huge NASCAR fan, knew who all the drivers and teams were and watched every race. Till Ted Turner got his grubby hooks into it, when was that 1977? He turned NASCAR from a fun family friendly sport into a corrupt money hungry corporate mess. I have never watched a race since and now have no idea who the drivers or teams are.
Looking back, Jeremy drove for Dodge. At that time, Dodge was dominating NHRA. There was a local speed shop that built the motors for them. Supposedly it got broken into and someone destroyed all the motors. Shortly after, 2 drivers tested positive for cocaine. Their careers are over and so is the speed shop. Coincidence?

Jeremy is his own worst advocate. I think he was setup but it felt like we were not getting the full truth.
HP Brien, it's not possible to dispute the well proven facts. Nobody at NASCAR did the burglaries, put the stolen goods, illegal firearms in his house, nor the meth is his home safe.
He certainly didn't tell everything. And he makes himself to be an innocent bystander that kept getting "set up". No man that doesn't just happen over and over like that.
