As someone who was insane enough to do Trevor only Alucard route, don't ever do it. In waiting several minutes for blocks to fall I kept questioning my life choices.
Well my friend unfortunately I have done Trevor only whip only both paths and on the 2nd quest as well. (Level 7 skull heads flip platform whip only is the most cynical game design I’ve ever seen)

I have completed trevor/ralph solo on the alucard path on cv3 and the jp version. It's one of the most grueling tasks in any game but feels so satisfying to finally reach the top of that final autoscroller on stage 7.
Trust me I know that pain as well. How many hits does the Jap version allow you to take? I think American it's 5 but luckily stage 7 has two wall meats
Oh yeah the skull heads are easily the worst thing in the game. Level 7 Alucard is bad enough but that section with the flippy platforms is insane. Trevor only whip only on both paths my big achievement haha

I did it on my UA-cam channel, Dracula X that is, and Rondo of Blood. Although I didn’t finish uploading Rondo of Blood to my UA-cam channel yet at a full 100% with the Undead Shaft boss battle and Dracula final battle, but I did manage to no hit some of the bosses in Rondo of Blood. My Dracula X upload is 2 parts and is the entire good ending run without dying. It’s one of my very first uploads on my UA-cam channel.
You can easily cheese the doppleganger with Grant by just stabbing it to death while kneeling in front of it. It will toss knives and keep missing. Sypha can wipe the full with it using the lightning orb spell from the top left platform if you immediately hop up there before the fight starts. Trevor can smash it quickly with Cross or Holy water, while whipping it to death. I have yet find a good method with Alucard to defeat it.
Alucard prob gonna have to use the pause strat. The grant strat I think is AI manipuation(could be wrong) I know how to beat him whip only so I have that in case I lose holy water
@@Imgoodurbadd There's a cross in the last area before the boss, so you can take it down with that. There's a shot multipler in the blocks right before the boss on the ground. Trevor always a reliable boss killer so long as you can pick up a good subweapon and a few hearts, every boss is manageable. I try come up with a way beat bosses as anyone if I can incase I were solo run as a character. Alucard using the switch trick is a path to victory, but it violates the solo character run since you're switching to do it.
I love the AVGN video and yet I cannot understand how he sucks so much at the Dracula Fight. It´s super easy even withouth the axe just like you showed. Great video.

@@Imgoodurbadd he's also fast enough to run past some of the skeleton dragon heads and helps you maneuver around some of the others. He also helps with the gauntlet of mermen jumping out of the water. Plus being able to carry both the axe and the holy water is huge just by itself
This is the ONLY Castlevania game I was ever able to beat on the NES back when it came out. I eventually beat the first one on GameBoy Advance due to that level saves. Was kool both times, just more relieving on this one. The first one was excitement at beating it. Watched pt.2 online to see the playthrough just to watch the ending and the castle behind the wall.

This is easily my 2nd favorite game of all time and I’ll die on the hill it’s the best castlevania due to multiple paths, characters, music, the replay ability is through the roof in this game! There’s a reason I’ve played it so much and of course I’m extra so I stick with the US version
Can't say I like the US version of CV 3 all that much, despite me getting into Castlevania a couple of years ago, just because of all the changes that made it enraging (and needlessly) difficult. And once I found a translated ROM of the japanese version, I'm never going back to the US release. That being said, very informative video and I'll definitely hold on to these tips, so thank you.
Yeah I’m probably the only weirdo that prefers the American version.(famicom sound track and grant though) i guess it’s cause I’ve played this game so much the Japanese version is too easy for me. (Good luck to you if you ever attempt the American version again!)

Aw hell yeah, I just watched the first video and then this one drops. Hot off the presses! You didn't even go show the sunken city path? I think it's a shame that one is buried so deep in the game because it's a very interesting level with the boss noping out of fighting you, causing a flood that you have to escape and then finish off the boss. Great content, man!

@@Imgoodurbadd Konami is spelled and pronounced almost like the Polish word "konamy" meaning "we are dying (in agony)". Which is pretty much they did after they let Kojima go, and ruined Silent Hill.
The levels are definitely interesting and unique. I love the vibe of creepy caverns and mines. Alucard’s bat ability also is really fun(of course Japanese alucard’s hearts were consumed slower then American)

Yeah easily my ranking best to worst:(3,1,2) I played simon’s quest it’s not my cup of tea but the hate it gets is a bit unwarranted. Try out some of the strats maybe they’ll make the game easy haha

I don't know if you were serious at the very end with the SOTN reference, but I can't imagine there remains anyone who genuinely still believes vanilla SOTN (PS1 or any version after) is actually difficult. It gets tedious at times if you find yourself in a situation where you're grinding for some unfortunate reason, sure, and the input reading on some of the magic commands is a bit questionable at times, but unless doing a low-level or similar challenge run even without exploiting the myriad of glitches it's among the easier 'Vanias.

Yeah I think most people use sypha because of her broken spells but I honestly enjoy Grant’s mobility and he can hold axes for me. I usually have holy water the whole game plus that
@Imgoodurbadd when SOTN was made 2 disc psx games werent a thing yet. The inverted castle was their trick to make a fairly long « non linear « game fit onto a single disc by reussing assets.

The Hard Mode of this game is worth mentioning for how they upgrade Medusa Heads. They become the most enraging enemy you'll see in any game.

If you get hit you can turn into a bat again. He also gets s for like a second so definitely stay on the left while flying up

By far THE BEST out of the 3 nes games.
I remember going through the NES trilogy... I got a soft spot for 2 but 3 was deffo great... Didn't use half these strats, it was hard but fun hard

Yeah if you’re ballsy enough to use anyone but Alucard for this level, 2 minutes of doing that and you can still die here. (Cries doing Trevor only, grant, and sypha on 2nd quest runs)

@@GoldieTamamoyeah normal game the stream room in level 9 with the birds without grant is Alucard is the hardest part of the game. 2nd quest that room in level 7 is sadistic with the skull heads on top of the fact you can only afford 4 hits

I beat lvl 9 as Sypha (fire) and it was a goddamn shit show. After I started using her I just stubbornly stuck with her for the rest of the game lol.
Yeah I think most people use sypha because of her broken spells but I honestly enjoy Grant’s mobility and he can hold axes for me. I usually have holy water the whole game plus that
SOTN is super easy I beat that game 32 times
damn. I played it like twice. I enjoy it but inverted castle kinda meh. Also Classicvania is my preference.
part of what makes SOTN so easy is due to how OP Alucard is lore wise.
@Imgoodurbadd when SOTN was made 2 disc psx games werent a thing yet. The inverted castle was their trick to make a fairly long « non linear « game fit onto a single disc by reussing assets.
