I played this on the original NES back in the day. It was my fist Zelda game even. Played the original around 4 or 5 years later. I got used to the combat for the first 3 palaces by myself and sharing some tips with friends at school, like Saria's town "vampire" people and Bagu's house location. By then, I read some magazine with a how-to for the final levels. Tried to check it only when absolutely necessary and beat the game eventually. It was a blast. A hard one, but not impossible by NES hard standards.
Yeah I think Zelda 2 is a really great game. Just a victim to cryptic features in modern day if you don’t have the manual or Nintendo power. This game can absolutely be destroyed if you get your attack stupid high and master the combat. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Yes we all have the completionist curse haha. I just said screw it I never use it but it could be a fun experiment next time I play the game see if it even damages bosses and certain enemies have to check that out
i love this game, i just 100% completed it a few days ago. and jokes on you, i dont know how to use save states XD also i never once used the fire spell, i just grabbed it for the sake of completion lol
Yeah Zelda 2 is so good but has the stigma with black sheep. I enjoy it more than 1 because of the combat being better and I never grab fire spell like I said in the video lmao
@@Imgoodurbadd its the same way for me,i love this game and despite what everyone says i dont consider this game the black sheep of the franchise. tho for me even if i dont use a certain item or spell i still like to collect it anyways as im a completionist lol
Back in the day I finished this game on that GameCube Zelda compilation. Thing is, I feel weird playing side scrollers with stick, so I played the entire game with the GC dpad. That wojack in the thumbnail? that's me, that's literally me.
@@Imgoodurbadd i think they are apples and oranges and cant really be directly compared. to me, the distance between zelda 1 & 2 is greater than the distance between super mario bros 1 & 2 and its literally doki doki panic 😂
@@MisterN1 yeah it’s a game where if you understand how to play it and know what to do, it’s a fun game to pop in and beat in like a couple hours. I enjoy it way more than Zelda 1. Down stab makes the game so much more fun
Zelda II’s a fun game but genuinely how would anyone ever figure out some of the cryptic stuff necessary to beat it? Like those false walls in the last few palaces!
@@Imgoodurbadd It was terrifying since it was all trial and error, especially against Dark Link. I did not know the corner trick and had to fight him straight up, my dad watched me beat him too, it's a cool childhood memory. My dad and I would bond over games, used to watch him play when I was a kid.
Yeah, it's not a hard game. Let's put it this way. This is one of the first NES games I ever finished, and this was before the advent of the internet as a mainline tool for video game information. And anyone who knows me knows I don't have the greatest reflexes. If you want more of a challenge, try Zelda II Link is Adventuresome. Full disclosure though, I did get the extra spells because I'm a completionist. But I don't recall ever actually using the Fire spell on anything in the game. Plus, it's really funny getting it. 1:25 - Also, Lizalfos are great for gaining the last few levels for the endgame.
Yeah you can grind the lizalfos near the hidden town and refill health and magic in the town. I’ve had a couple people tell me the grab the fire spell because of completionist so that’s interesting. I don’t bother anymore lol
@@NightSprinter I didn’t know there was a randomizer. If it’s worth checking out could be a livestream thing in the future. Could I end up in great palace with like level 1 stats or something? That would be hilarious
@@Imgoodurbadd You could well end up there with low stats. I'll say this: you think the original game is easy? This will beat you into the ground. The harder options even force you to go through caves without the candle (as sometimes it could be found as late as Three-Eye Palace), or put the Magos (orange fire mages) or Wizzrobes (white robes) in as early as Desert Palace. I DID get a few seeds where Magos have a staggering 500 experience per kill.
Hi thanks so much for checking this out. Honestly the only other Zelda game I could see myself covering at this moment in time would be link to the past(as it’s my favorite game in the series) I have other ideas for future projects
Thank you. I really appreciate the kind words. Love these games and wanna share that in a humorous way.(LTTP holds a special place in my heart. Such a fantastic game. I hope you enjoy that game)
Ive beat this game a few times over the years and i never understood where it gets its reputation. Ive come to the conclusion that people are just babies
Yeah it’s only “hard” in cryptic sense and yes the combat at first is hard but once you master it and level up attack first( I literally had level 8 attack after palace 3) you’re basically set. Don’t level up how the game expects you to and you’ll destroy this game. I love it dearly

Just got a Zelda II cartridge for my birthday and I can’t wait to play
That’s awesome! I have Zelda 2 complete in box because I like the game that much. Good luck to you it’s a great game
Ocarina of Time: "Hold my first dungeon, which is a tutorial, not a threat." 😂
Yeah parapa palace is pretty tricky first time around. Your only healing is one fairy otherwise back to town
Zelda II: The Casual Stroll of Link
Pretty much. Especially if you max out attack level early on
Hint 1! Fairy glitch in palaces may sometimes save life and time. U can go trough Doors using using fairy spell. You dont need find most keys.
Yeah I just don’t use it because fairy consumes so much magic and you skip out on potential xp
I can't not get the Fire spell, though I never use it. Curse of the Completionist. I have to get it all, even if I don't use it.

I dont think it's really a glitch but maybe AI manipulation. I'm just lazy lol.
One of the hardest games on the nes right beside castlevania 2
Zelda 2 is a fantastic game if you know how to navigate it. Castlevania 2 I would say is more boring to me but that’s just me
They made both games about the same way now that I'm 33 and 3000 games later I think it's time to put the sword and shield in hand
The remake that was recently made for this game is awesome. They added a lot to it.
I love the Wonder Boy/Monster World games on SEGA systems, is Zelda 2 similar?🤔

I wish I owned the Zelda GameCube collection. Too expensive. I hear you dpad is an absolute must for these games
the difficulty of this game is so overblown 😂
True. Hot take I think this game is better then the first Zelda or at least I enjoyed it way more than Zelda 1
