If you are thinking to step into the process of finding your spouse, we are sure your heart and mind must be undergoing a brainstorming session of infinite questions. Considering someone for Nikah brings with it a list of questions that you need to ask to know about that person and family. Family background cannot say much about the nitty-gritty of the person’s nature, aspirations, habits, and Deen. This requires that the Muslim families who are involved in the Nikah of their children should allow them to interact under their guidance. Let’s look at 10 must have conversations you must have with your potential spouse.

These points of this video are for a conversation, rather than a list of questions.
1. The past (relevant to marriage: e.g. criminal record, not relevant to marriage: your past sins, its between you and Allah)
2. The future (goals and ambitions, e.g. move to another country?, finishing uni degree?)
3. The Deen/religious values (whats your understanding? Which books you read) --> marry someone for there realistic potential!
4. Interaction with Family (living situations, living with in-laws, Eid-day)
5. Finances (career plans, money circumstances, working of the wife, savings, investments)
6. Kids (Do you want to have kids? Career or children? Education of the children)
7. Friends (Who are your friends? What annoys you? What bothers you?)
8. Expectations of one another
9. Spending of time (you are how you spend your money)
10. Health (Illness and Deseases, cancer history has to be brought up, no secrets)

*Everything you said are facts but you forgot to mention to the youth's who are desperate of getting married. In marriage the most thing to be practiced is patience. You can ask your opposite spouse all the questions you mentioned, but many things change after marriage. The only thing that makes marriage to survive is patience. Many people lost their jobs during covid and it caused alot of divorce. But those who survived with their marriage are the one's who had patience with one another. May Allah make it easy for every single one of us who are looking to get married, those who are already into marriage and those who are divorced.* 💞

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Rabbanaa hab lanaa min azwaajinaa wathurriyyaatinaa qurrata a’yunin waj’alnaa lilmuttaqeena imaamaa.
Surah Al-Furqān, verse 74
This dua can be recited for
Piety and taqwa
To invoke Allah for a pious spouse
To ask Allah for righteous children
Narrated Abdullah bin Amr:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it is a single sentence."

Ask a question as it is & reply honestly. If there is no honesty, no point in being with such a person.

The husband must provide the standard of living. The wife can contribute to luxuries , savings. This conversation should happen beforehand.

Prophet Muhammad SAW said:
"I recited four words three times after I had left you. If these are to be weighed against all you have recited since morning, these will be heavier."
These are:
Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, 'adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinatah 'arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi.
Translation:
Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with His praise, as many times as the number of His creatures, in accordance with His Good Pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne
and equal to the ink that may be used in recording the words (for His Praise).

The statement of marrying for there potential is really insightful a lot of people including myself wanna reach that potential and then marry but the inner ego doesn’t wanna admit that to get there you do need marriage and it’s a on what shall I do and Allah knows best

What if a man sees no problem of zina and promises to repent before nikkah? But keeps doing zina...is there potential here?
Why not quit doing zina now
Why will he repent if he sees no problem with what he is doing? Those are empty words of someone who cannot be trusted. There isn't potential, and his repentance will only last as long as he is occupied. The minute he is bored, his eyes will wander again UNTIL he genuinely believes that the sin is wrong.
Can someone Translate to arabic
Can it be possible for a man to never get married cause they have something like mental health issue and enjoys video games and what if that person doesn't understand themselves. And what if these things don't change for that person.
Marriage is a contract where you promise to look after wife, if man has mental issues or bad habits that will not change he cannot look after wife properly & in islamic way so better to not get married. Marriage is a sunnah and not a fard for this reason.

If one, longing for sensual pleasure, achieves it, yes, he's enraptured at heart. The mortal gets what he wants. But if for that person - longing, desiring - the pleasures diminish, he's shattered, as if shot with an arrowSo one, always mindful, should avoid sensual desires. The one who is not fulfilling the hukook of Allah and not able to lower his gaze then how can he fulfill the hukook of his wife...

Do not take such a guy!!! I am in a Situation rn where I am getting to know a guy for marriage. And he met my father and brothers and when there were female family members of mine in the same room for some seconds ( meeting was segregated) he lowered his gaze immediately. And at some point my mum was in the room too and he lowered his gaze non stop. He doesn’t follow any females on social media. And he doesn’t have much contact to non mahram women in his family let alone random women. I really admire this about him :) allahumma barik. As a women its a lot easier to lower the gaze but for men it’s difficult but not impossible. If you are a girl that lowers her gaze do NOT take a man that does not lower his gaze. May Allah grant to a righteous husband with whom you can increase ur imaan and live a happy life in this dunya and Akhirah. Amin❤️
