Great video, John! I don't understand how so many people can get away with shaving at night or multiple days. Now that my beard grows in gray & white, I look like I've been drinking out of a paper bag if I don't shave. If I had to skip, I'd still do my neck to make it look like an intentional stubble beard. I do skip days on my head though. I often only do that once a week, so it's not necessarily efficiency that I look for, but blade gap so I can rinse easier. That's where a GEM 1912 really shines. SEs are nice in general for head shaving because you don't have to worry about the back side of the blade getting your ears.
@leenunes 🤣🤣 2-3 days growth I look homeless too. I can get away with shaving at night by the end of the next work day starting to get the 5 o’clock shadow. If I don’t shave that next day ppl ask if I’m growing my beard back out. I get many want to know if a razor is capable of mowing down grown but for me it is not my main criteria for a razor. Efficiency with low irritation is what I’m after.
Johnny-boy!! You HAVE to do a review of the High Proof for us. It’s milder than what you like but the efficiency is shocking. I’ve literally TRIED to irritate my skin using it and I can’t.
Although many people use cartridge razors for shaving due to heavy advertising, nothing can surpass the quality and effectiveness of a safety razor. Single-edge safety razors, in particular, offer even greater savings on razor blades. By the way, that was an excellent video.
Lol I think we have a good overlap on our razor collections. I also have a Tachi but have yet to shave with it. I've been ordering razors faster than my frequency of shaving 😂 I only shave face/head like once or twice a week, just due to time and i guess growth speed. I also enjoy shaving at night/evening, more time to enjoy. I go for BBS like you so it lasts for awhile. I also have a DScosmetic Mars SE razor. From what I read it's a milder/less blade feel than the Tachi but I have yet to confirm it myself.
@jaytekkenX I haven’t found a SE razor I love. The tachi, thorn, Parker are pretty good but I don’t love any of them. So far the AC bladed razors seem better than SE ones.
@@Stubblemeetssteel yea I have a Supply SE I'm still working on learning. Just wanted a modern day injector for the collection. If I enjoy the Supply planning on getting the Razorock Hawk V3. I also plan on getting a Feather kamisori down the line so the blades would work for both.
@@JayTekkenXI’ve wanted to try the supply razors. I see them used sometimes. How do you like it? I had the hawk v2. I like the shield or yaqi Romulus OC better. I also have a feather kamisori. When I want to cut the shit out of my face I use it 🤣🤣🤣
@@boostedbliss07MK5I've only had one shave with it, but I enjoyed the rigidness of the blade compared to DE razors. I prefer mild razors so it had a little bit more blade feel to me than like say the Leaf Thorn but was pretty efficient (had quite a few weepers at the end of 3 passes tho). I have a Goodfellas' Smile Kamisori waiting in the wings. Gonna probably get some more practice with the SE razors to get used to the blade feel before I try it 😂 plenty of styptic pencils on standby as well 👌
@avishekchakrabarty2560 my Gem friend what would you like to see next? I am going to compare the Parker solo edge to shield Gem head next. Being honest I think only think the micromatic open comb is efficient enough to take on the solo edge. Not sure a featherweight would win the efficiency contest.
Great review. I appreciate your reviews. You never seem to have a dog in the race and keep it well-balanced! Can you suggest any well priced heavy knurled stainless handle options that would work well to increase efficiency of many different razor heads?
@christopheratkinson635 I really like razorrocks handles. They are a great value! If you are not in a hurry get on their mailing list or check for sales. They often run sales on the handles. The knurling is fantastic & 316l stainless. I have the ufo, barber pole, bulldog, HD. I enjoy them all. The ufo & barber pole look great & the barber pole has some of the best grip of any handle I’ve ever held. They are the common 5MM thread. Some razors like Yates use 10/32 but it’s not nearly as common as 5mm is.
@@Stubblemeetssteel funny you should say that. I was just looking at the Italian Barber site last night. I couldn't believe how inexpensive those razors were with 316s handle. RazoRock had one heck of a vendor on that. I think I might order the SLOC with heavy knurling. You are on a content roll! 💪💪
@guluala4351 those are obviously both sensitive areas. If you have never tried a double edge razor I would suggest a cheap one to start. The Bali 176 or 178 is a good smooth & forgiving razor that’s $10 on Amazon. I would also suggest a blade sampler pack off Amazon to try. Blades are not all the same & some are much smoother and less irritating than others. Yet what blade I like you make get different results so try a sampler pack.
@mrwantsy I feel they already have enough SE options as they have several zamac se heads for under $10. SE is always less sales than DE so they probably focus more on DE.

@theodorepapadopoulous810 I honestly forgot about that razor until you mentioned it. I would like to try that one!
Another great comparison shave John. Many thanks!
Nice shave John, thanks for posting this comparison.
@okiedokie_cool my pleasure hope you liked it.

@greenerick couldn’t agree more. Love shaving so much more since I went single blade. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.

@jaytekkenx definitely have styptic pencils on hand!
I get too much irritation if I shave everyday, but every other day works and keeps me looking clean shaven.
@drytool that’s what counts is you have found what works best for you. Thanks for watching.
If I go backpacking for a week or so, I'll do a pass with a straight razor first. That way it cuts the same, no matter how long my growth is.
People’s hair grows at different rates. My beard grows very fast and so have to shave every day.
Not seeing anymore Gem razor shaves?

How many ounces are in the soap you used? Another nice comparison. Thanks
@alspemcer2794 the tubs do not say how much they are filled up with. Easily 4oz for sure.
Bro what razor is best to choose for underarms and pubic hair?any u know of?

i think in a short time yaqi will offer something similar in price and design to the parker
