Aww! That's so adorable; you singin' to your parakeet! (I hope you don't mind me saying that. If I had a pet, a dog or cat or parakeet or something, I'd sing to him, too).
It's funny how we always want to hear those ladies' stories about Jimmy Page, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix etc, while they obviously were more inspired to write and sing about Captain Beefheart, Nick St. Nicholas from Steppenwolf and some crazy lady from South Dakota.
Never heard this song before, but I liked it! The singing style works so well with these song types and lyrics. Zappa knew where the uncharted territory was. Props to the gals for helping Alice Cooper and the band develop their signature look.
You're SO right. I love how you said that Zappa "knew where the uncharted territory was." That's a great line; I might have to quote you on it. Well, this song is some uncharted territory, all right. You know, I've always heard it as the ultimate parody of the sort of cutesy-poo silly love songs that "girl-groups" like the Cookies and the Chiffons and the Shangri-Las recorded in the pre-psychedelic early '60's. After all, what TRADITIONAL girl-group singer worth her bouffant and white lipstick would ever be caught DEAD saying "shit", OR putting on a rubber-chicken-suit with a beak? But those harmonies - the bliss in Pamela's voice when she sings "I'm in love, I'm in love..." hearken back to the heart of the girl-group tradition. That's why I love this song.
@@donnasalihu1101 No one wrote or said anything that would by implication say that Frank Zappa wrote the lyrics to this. The closest is "Zappa knew where the uncharted territory was" which seems to be about Frank encouraging them to form the band and producing the record.
