    Thanks for the video, I’ll be doing the t top headliner on my car. I have to repair all 4 corners and the middle cracked. The whole thing is pretty soft, so I was going to give it all a pass with fiberglass to strengthen it.

    Do you have any way of basically re-creating the lip/edge of a headliner? Mine was damaged and there is about a 1 inch gap between the headliner and the weather strip at the edge of the cab. Any help would be appreciated.

      Masking Tape a piece of card board cut to the right shape, then fiberglass it.

    The front of the Resin can warns against certain types of materials causing fire when mixed with resin. I take it that it is reffering to when the Resin is still wet, therefore would that be an issue with the brush fibers ? What type of material are the brush bristles you used to brush on the resin? Does it matter? Also, I have a light weight fiberglass cloth from Amazon that was listed as .5 oz woven mesh. Do you think Bondo resin would be compatible with it? There was no specific info on the site. I was trying to find the thinnest material because I needed to cover the whole board as the board is pitted and damaged. I was hoping to sanded as smooth as I could, enough to brush with resin, lay the cloth, brush with resin again. Allow it plenty of time to dry, then spray with Permatex and lay the foam backed headliner material. Will I run into an issue using Permatex headliner adhesive?
    Sorry about all the questions , but I have not found many videos on fiberglass softboard repairs and I'm taking on this project by myself. I have done my own headliners before, but never one this damaged that required repair. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

      I don't think there will be an issue with fire once the resin has cured. The brush I am using is the cheapest 1in brush, I wouldn't use a foam brush, I know that fiberglass resin will eat things like Styrofoam. test out your working matierals, before just coving everything to be sure.

    How long does it take for the smell to go?

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  2 роки тому +1

      If the resin is mixed right with fresh harder smells should be gone in maybe a week probably sooner.

    Is that headliner board just folded cardboard?

      @@GrimRepair ah ok, I ask because I'm working on my first project (65 mercury comet) and where the headliner is supposed to be, its just all metal roof, so I was looking for ways to make the "hard board" in order to do what I needed for a suede headliner. I've seen people use legitimate cardboard glued together but I feel if that were to get any moisture then it would warp. Any advice?

    • @GrimRepair
      @GrimRepair  3 роки тому +1

      @@user-wd3mv9kt7e well it is a just a dense cardboard, and they do warp (I also made a video on fixing a warped headliner) where I steam the board to reshape it. I think you will need to get it wet to shape it. Things like dome lights help hold its shape. I have never made one from scratch, if I did I would put it on top of the roof and steam it, I think that would put you pretty close to the right shape.let us know how it comes out.
